its green compared with any manufacturing or transport industry

an interesting comment is that shipping fumes are one of the biggest polluters for transport but you never hear about it. we could all crush our cars and ride bikes and a it would equate the the amount of ship pollution released in one day. (or something like that, it gross, and they burn the dirtiest shit cheap ass fuel making it worse)
182  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Optimizing ATI performance, 6950 in particular on: July 02, 2011, 09:52:32 PM
technically you can flash in windows, but dont, there's just way more chance of it not working or you locking up / bricking your card. its happened regularly to someone i know. but the dos way is trouble free

repeat, if you arent willing to do it in dos dont do it
technically it prob will void your warranty, but whether it eventually stops you getting a replacement or money back is in the hands of the gods

did you work out if its a non-reference board or not ?
183  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Optimizing ATI performance, 6950 in particular on: July 02, 2011, 09:25:35 PM
What flags can I use in GUIminer that can :
a.boost my performance (as I only get 290MHash/s stock speeds as Im afraid of burning out my card by OC'ing,or flashing HD6970 BIO which I don't wanna do)
sorry but there aint much gain to be had with just miner parameters, your pretty safe oc'ing just your core mhz to something stable. voltage and heat are the real killers so watch out for them. under 90c is ok but around 70 is better.

b.Allow me to use other apps without freezing my PC

-f60 for example will affect miner priority and will help with sluggishness , but lockups while using other programs that access the gpu wont be stopped by this. that is a bug that is being fixed in next ati release apparently. though you can try a different miner in the mean time.

c.Keep temperatures and noice under control as that fan is very load at 60% and above.

this is  a paradox, as lower temperatures = more noise , and vise versa. you can try finding a happy medium by manually fixing the fan speed to meet your likes, or trying to increase case airflow.

It's a Sapphire board,(has AMD logo on PCI-E connector and bought it on 29/06/2011 so I don't know if it's even unlockable but was on sale)

has it got all the crazy black plastic shroud ? does it have dual bios switch ?with fan in half way along board ? or is it like most stock cards with fan at rear of board ?
stock reference = better for flashing but you should be ok either way to try unlocking shaders

Also I need clear steps on how to just unlock shaders without moding into HD 6970.

backup bios with gpuz
open bios in rbe (radeon bios editor) in extras? enable 6970 shaders option, save as
create boot usb/floppy/cd/whatever
flash with atiflash command line tool off boot dos (not windows)

atiflash -p 0 card.rom
(assuming you have 1 card installed)

if shader count has gone up in gpuz it worked.

ive the GA 6950 OC

i used to get 330 with it just OC'd @ 895mhz

but i just got it unlocked simply though this may not work in all cases.

getting 360Mhs now.

backup bios with gpuz

mod with rbe to unlock shaders

reflash off boot disk (not windows important) with atiflash

congratulations and major props to the guys who got the ftp access, you deserve a medal or some of the coins for acting so quick !

no matter what all you guys say about it being funny and detailed, he's still just a scum bag thief con artists who would be stealing your dear grand mothers money and net virginity given the chance...   Angry

yes same but for now atleast not oc so much helps.
193  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: poclbm mining problems with 6950 on: June 29, 2011, 05:13:37 AM
it seems ok now im running 870 instead of 895mhz
194  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: poclbm mining problems with 6950 on: June 29, 2011, 03:58:31 AM
i already run -f60 but do oc but under 900 , i may try at a lower rate to test that though. for me there is no other option, watch video or mine which is annoying, especially when forget to stop mining when clicking a youtube video in facebook and it locks the pc up.
195  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 6950 causing lockup when viewing YouTube on: June 29, 2011, 03:19:39 AM

funny

I'm sorry but I call BS...  It's easy enough to prove us wrong...  post the town and state he lives in...  or if it's rural, the county and state...  That search warrant is public record, so it will be easy enough for one of us to call and confirm there was a DEA raid there.

dude its totally plausible, you dont need to be a rocket scientist to see that
198  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Anyone else get busted by the cops for "suspicious" energy consumption! on: June 28, 2011, 12:50:34 PM
Not that I don't believe you, but can anybody definitively confirm at least one instance of this happening?

man they totally monitor the power usage like that, if you didnt know that you know nothing...
199  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Anyone else get busted by the cops for "suspicious" energy consumption! on: June 28, 2011, 12:44:47 PM
awesome story man, totally classic ! maybe miners should start putting notices on their front door explaining the situation to the DEA b4 they break your door down...  Tongue

I don't see what Steam has to gain from this arrangement.
A fuck-load of people buying keys. Valve probably couldn't be happier.

Don't get me wrong. It has potential. However, it seems like begging for conflict with Valve.

agreed
