isnt $2.50 too small amount and the system not geared for buying & trading the needed 100's or 1000's of keys to be moving a decent amount of wealth ??

203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wallet Security Dos and Don'ts (for the average Windows user) on: June 27, 2011, 01:00:39 PM
firewalls and antivirus on a personal computer dont do much good and make people rely on them, which is a major mistake. see allinvain.

Uhhhhh, have you SEEN Comodo's software firewall???  Shit is amazing.

i prefer ESET Smart Security, but i used comodo firewall for ages before this. In both i have them set and recommend people use 'manual mode' so you must allow or block anything trying to send or recieve data via your computer.

great for stopping those pesky apps from checking online for updates / key's
204  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: FREE BITCOINS -- Environmentally conscious mining! on: June 27, 2011, 12:52:47 PM
sounds great and all but i think you'd be better of investing all that infrastructure capital in more mining equipment and using a spare room.

then offsetting your pollution through your electricity company if it has that option, or just planting a food garden/trees on your land instead.

Isn't it better for ideas to temporarily benefit their creators than for them to not exist at all (remember, I'm assuming the IP laws would be reasonable, not like they are now).

im not hardcore left,as you request, and i think we all agree that short term is fine. as also said by prev post its just gotten a little out of hand.

212  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hardcore libertarians: explain your anti-IP-rights position to me. on: June 24, 2011, 12:04:14 AM
there is no such thing as a totally unique idea, all ideas are formed from other ones that exist in the public space, IP laws prevent ideas from getting into the public space and thus restrict new ideas and innovation.

the original founding fathers were against it, but disney stretched it out from about 20 years originally to a lifetime to now almost indefinite...
213  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will a FIRE SALE start when mt gox opens back up? on: June 23, 2011, 11:59:39 PM
personally i don't think they'll drop much at all (but you never know) why would any one too low fo them when they could just withdraw them and put them into Trade Hill for free ? And sure you mich think that TH will drop too, but you just have to have some confidence in bitcoin and keep them safe on your computer. If you dont you dont deserve to get much for your coins and all the better for those that get to buy up cheap !  Grin (i will be one of them, i have USD in my account not BTC)

Helo Bitcoin Firend,

A few hours ago the Bitcoin trading website Mt Gox has been hacked. Malicious individuals have been able to obtain a database containing usernames, email address and encrypted passwords. This information has been posted publicly on the internet.

As a Bitcoin supporter I'm now sending a message to every email address contained in the hacked database. This is to warn you that your username, email address and password have been leaked. I therefore strongly advice you to change your passwords. If you have used the same password on different websites it's highly recommended to change your password on all of your accounts!

For a more secure alternative to Mt Gox, the community appears to be moving to TradeHill. So this is no reason to lose faith in Bitcoin itself. It must be seen as a warning that not every website can be trusted with your data however! Their link is http://www.tradehill.com/?r=TH-R15977.

Sincerely,
A Bitcoin supporter
