Holly Mama Pink! Guess I'll have to buy more PINK to send tip also to boxxa! But there ain't no address..

Just a question out of curiosity, is there a technical way how to avoid the necessity of entering the complicated wallet address, apart from QR code? Say something like giving your address a nick and be able to use that instead. Of course, QR is the best - no mistype and that stuff, but being able to nick your address would give it more human feel for non techies when it comes to the use of masses, where PINK is heading.
I don't do this for tips but appreciate the love. If you want to tip, I only take lotto tickets since part of it goes to charity and anything on there I use to spend more on tickets for other people in kinda that pay-it-forward mentality that the community has embraced.

The demo didn't show it but there is a way to save your wallet address via the web. This was the easiest method as I agree, it sucked typing it and I actually emailed my wallet address and then copied it to my text message. Yea it worked but in the real world, if you are using SMS you typically don't have email on your phone which results to using the web to set your wallet and then just text WD or using a third method which I am still trying to figure out how to make it user friendly =)

Srry, didn't want to make you look/feel like you are after tips, just felt like this thread needs more Pink/love/generosity and wanted to show some Pinksolid appreciation to you and other guys working hard and making this great vision come true. Of course it is not necessary, but that is the best about it and what you do with your PINK is completely upon you and your style is very Pink in particular. Like it a lot.Wink

Also thanks for the comment on the addresses. Not easy to solve these small things - consuming too much time instead of some other again bigger cooler and pinker project. I guess decentralized is a no go anyway with SMS gate and everything, so wouldn't work just store a list of "addresses - nicks" couples somewhere and have it translated once the SMS goes through? Or something like that? Could have a statement that would set a nick (would have to enter the address once). But I don't see really deep into the mechanism, so don't even bother explaining in detail if it is a total nonsense. And the web saved address is probably very cool anyway, just can't imagine right now.Smiley

Thanks for the hard work and keep it Pink, man!

No worries. I just like to see people getting excited about it.

The complicated part is people have limited tech if they are using SMS so QR and all that is obsolete. The only option is using a web interface to hook the address in. Web interface will open more security holes which is why its probably going to be on a phase 2 of a release since the audit of the code will take time.

Holy crap. What time did they write that article?

Kind of a misleading donate link to be honest. It mentions the cost problem of this but also has a really positioned donate link that doesn't let people know its for the article and not for the project. I have not added any donation link for the work I do until the release and any donations will help cover SMS costs for having multiple numbers.

Thank you for updating it to reflect the notice.

Well since there hasn't been any SMS updates from a particular coins, I guess I will post some working screen shots of the sms gateway I have been working on in parallel with wallet.PINK.

Sorry for the last minute screen shots. I had to remove a lot of debug code in the messages and I will have more details this week but since people want to see developments, here is a development.

Initiator cell phone with a loaded balance on their address:
Tweet with image: https://twitter.com/boxxa/status/481668525342617600

The person receiving gets a SMS from the gateway notifying them they have a balance. They can send and treat it as a wallet or just cash it out to their local wallet.
Tweet with image: https://twitter.com/boxxa/status/481669529383481344

Oh and this was a working transaction. Here is the tx on the block chain for the cash out.
http://chainz.cryptoid.info/pc/tx.dws?9e6a2979e855a5c87b78ee1d61daa2ab154c25bfb1530163f19d66968aa1a258.htm

Roadmap and untested features:
-Clean up the code - This is still beta but wanted to show that this is a WORKING SMS gateway.
-Passcodes - Don't want to leave wallets only out there with phone number auth. (not in this demo but day 1 feature)
-Cost mitigation - SMS does cost money so there will be the challenge to run this without going broke while not deterring people from using it due to fees.
-Fully encrypted database - remove any element of trust on the host. Keys used in messages decrypt phone numbers preventing anyone from watching the DB for users numbers. In beta but planned for initial release.
-Burner wallets - Wallet IDs are tied to numbers. After a TX confirms outbound, wallets can be set to delete to prevent any trace of cell phone -> wallet
-QR Codes - ADDQR sends QR code of wallet. This allows someone to send you PC by scanning your phone. Probably phase 2 as there is no native client for PINK yet.
-Integration with anon.PINK - Probably phase 2 but fully possible with this current code.

PINK is different, it will remain different, and we will prove that real world adoption is not about hype. Instead it is about having solid features and tools that make it easy for anyone and everyone to use.

We have anon (http://anon.pink) and no one uses it, so why would we spend more time and dedicate hours to implementing and adding to the anon feature. It works, and it works well. All the anon feature has done for me is, prove that people just want the bandwagon hype, no one actually uses anon, in fact 90% of people don't even understand what it is.

We are going to continue to focus on building smiles through donations to charities and adding features that will improve our real world adoption.

As for Rebranding, this is PINK, and will likely forever remain PINK. As many people have stated, 90% of the crypto world is males, and they don't care for the color. That's perfect, it means we are "different" and whether or not crypto people want to admit it, what this industry needs right now is something different. Having a coin that appeals to women, and can benefit women on its own is a huge benefit.

It has been less than 48 hours since we chose to change our stance on announcements about "hype" and already this thread is turning into every other coin thread.

Live with no regret, and continue to push forward, we will continue to focus on PINK bombs, not copythecointhatiscurrentlypumping bombs. I will admit, all the latest posts had me tempted to drop some screenshots about the current real world adoption systems being implemented. And though it would appease many, it would also invite the whales to take most of your money.

Want the effects of hype on the market? Start trading some coins, hold 80% and swing trade 20%. Volume attracts the crypto world better than hype.

Someone(s) spent a lot of time & thought developing the PinkEE backend and frontend for ANON purposes so I will bang the heck out of it tonite and send all PINK Tuesday payouts from the giveaway thread to the MOON.  Let's see if anyone complains about getting old, dusty Earth PINK.

This is what the community needs.
265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Revamped PinkCoin (PC / PINK) PoS | Multipool | Fundraiser | Anonymous on: June 24, 2014, 01:36:27 PM
My god this thread is everything that is wrong with crypto. You see a early post of the devs releasing stuff without hype and showing they are capable yet you continually see posts like:

"HOW CAN I GET RICH OFF THIS COIN?!"
"I JUST BOUGHT THIS COIN, WHY AM I NOT RICH?"!"
"WHY IS THIS COIN NOT WORTH 1 BTC YET!?"
"MAKE THIS COIN LIKE OTHER COINS!!!"
"GUYS CLONE _____ AND ADD IT TO THIS COIN!"
"ITS BEEN 2 DAYS, WHERE IS THE NEXT FEATURE AND ANNOUNCEMENT?!"

The crypto world is a dark scene now. The newbie traders buying on hype and getting mad when they realize their clone coin with nothing innovative fails decide to spew news and other false rumors in other threads because they can't accept the fact they suck at trading and were scammed. Also, suddenly every trader is now a dev. They think they know how coins work, how software is built, and the inner workings of crypto when the fact is, you don't. Stop trying to be a dev. Stop pretending that competent devs are a dime a dozen. There is very few coins out there with any devs who have built a reputation and also have actually done something else than clone a coin. Anyone with basic CS knowledge can compile a github repo but when you see a stuck block chain or random forks, you see the true devs come out and who actually can fix problems.

Yes, there is some devs that implement features and they should be shared across coins as that is the benefit of open source. The mass contribution to make software but lately, any thread it seems to be people flooding this thread seem to all have the same MO.

*No one cares about a solid dev team and what they are actually capable of. Pink release features. No hype.  No bullshit. Just came out and said, "yea we have this working now". Other coins hype features with no reputation and somehow people buy in blindly.

*No one cares of price stability. People want to see 1000% gains which in the grand scheme of a crypto is horrible for real world adoption. Your bottle of water one day can be 10 Shitcoins and then the next day can be 10000 Shitcoins.

*No one cares of user experience. People want to clone coins and features without any real sense of what is actually used. Anon was a huge hyped feature yet real world people sending donations and buying things just do not use it. Just as I said about en/decrypted email. People say they want it but adoption is a moot point.

*No one cares about anything other than ultra hype that surges a coin 1000% with no real benefit to the crypto world. Someone posts some ideas, says it will come in the next release and people eat that shit up.

This herd mentality is destroying values of coins that really provide something to this world. If Pink fails, then I really lose faith in altchains as a whole.

first priority should be updating the wallet gui. Too basic.

Of course.... default is not something we tolerate at pink. The interface is getting thrown out the window and the new wallet is being built that will be pink enough to handle all the new features. The GUI design will be at par with all other design element at pink. We're targeting non crypto users, so rest assured, it will "feel" like you are using a regular software than a basic qt wallet. It's going to be noob friendly enough for grandma to send some pink Smiley

Sounds sexy

The price of PINK Will never Rise if PINK dev does not announce what is coming up, note that I dont want any date isnt necessary when announcing what Will he coming.
Take My advice guys...

It would be nice to see a little more hype around this coin. The team has proven there is capable developers that can get stuff done, now its time to market it better and boost the value which will boost the price of the coin and value of coins donated to charity. Only problem is if you ever hype anything, the crypto world goes nuts and wants updates and releases ASAP or else "ITS A SCAM!" so while it can help build excitement and community, it can also be your worst enemy. It seems CryptoCayce seems to have a good handle on their PR.

I agree that most users are not concerned with Anon and fully agree with TOR. It is slow.

The wallet implementation is a bonus but I feel it would be similar to emails clients that have the "send encrypted" emails that some users love and others don't really care for. A send anonymously and send normal method would be ideal.

Oh yeah, it's just an option that'll be available to people that want it. Interface wise it's just going to be a tickbox next to where you put in how much you're sending. Nothing fancy.

That will be perfect. When I'm bribing my local congressman with PINK, I'll be able to just tick a box and the transaction never happened!

If you live in the US, you don't need anon transactions. That is what super PACs are for.

That is perfect I think. Kind of like an "advanced" user feature.

So guys, if I understand correctly, the best thing about PINK whitepaper is its design and colors?

Has there been any serious review of the idea?

The best thing about it is of course that the idea behind it works. For quite a while by now. The whitepaper "just" sums things up and adds background, therefore making useful and coherent source of information for the public. The fact that many people find the design pleasing is just a bonus.Wink

I believe that jyap was about to public some kind of review on the anon (?). So that might come.

I am still hoping for some kind of competition for breaking the anon, which (unless broken Smiley) is easily understandable by the public as a proof of a working concept. Understand that you just can't implement everything on demand though.

Anyway, the whitepaper is freaking pinksome. Respect for you guys, will have to send you at least some tip for that.

Think Pink fellas, think Pink.

So what do you guys think about this FUD:

http://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/28hqu3/warning_to_all_anonymous_coins_promoters_and/

I suppose it can be taken as FUD if your only goal is to make money on pumped coins. If its true what they say about Crypt then it should be published and investors should be made aware. This way they can make a more educated decision on investing or not. Lets face it, the crypto scene is full of scams. The more glitter and shine a coin has the more likely it is a scam. I can understand why PINK team doesn't want to go that route.

This is part of the problem with Altcoins. People put money into most active coins with the most hype and want to see results instantly. There isn't many altcoin investors who hold money in believe in something.

You guys are too big on the merged mining element. It's helpful to trust but the rollout of it will be slow. NOMP doesn't support upstream pools so you won't see much purpose or migration right away.

I did say it would be slow above. I also said fixing the difficulty targeting seems most important to complete right away.

Yes. Shorter block times too. The original post said fast moving block chains which is not the case. Need to drop it down to about 1 minute or 30 seconds.

Phase 1 should be:
-New website design
-New modern logo/branding

Phase 2 should be:
-Implement DGW3 in clients
-Finish Android client
-Polish up clients with new images and logos
-30 sec or 1 min block rewards still increasing the supply as planned originally

Could always add auxpow and dgw in first fork. Stabilize the block chain and then setup a fund that large holders can "destroy" coins to to be used to stabilize the price in the future or have them send coins to the genesis block address knowing those cant be spent by anyone.

Changing rewards is dangerous and think that may be a last resort if you have reason. You have 10,000 coins getting created every 4 min essentially. If you move it to 30 sec blocks, you can cut rewards to 1250 per block and still keep the base economics of the coin in place initially. Cutting supply by block reward may do more damage than good cut keeping the creation of coins in check and speeding up the block chain will fix a lot.
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MZC][SHA-256] MAZACOIN *First Sovereign Currency* ANDROID WALLET AVAIL.!! on: June 12, 2014, 06:38:02 PM
I just wanted to come back to say congratulations to MZC for the wonderful news that AP has finally left the team.

Is this official?

Yes there was a statement from him and tweet by @mazacoin

Here is some suggestions to get this coin back on track. They need to create a new sign of life in the project. Someone needs to come on board, round up everyone together who contributes and figure out the base path of what everyone can do and what needs to be done including Payu. This whole lead developer title and "Master Coin Maker" if stupid.

1) Establish a new image. The website has to go. It is awful and looks like a joke. There was community submitted designs and translations I was emailed and pushed to get in place after I spoke to the MZC community in the IRC chat answering questions and getting some take aways from the people. I am sure we can round up some ideas and get something up quicker with more information, interactive pages with content and merge it with MazaTalk to land a unified coin site and community around. This is also a time to update the coins logo while keeping the traditional element in it, but there was also some coin icons that provided a more modern look and now is a time to rebrand the coin while keeping tradition.

2) As I said, regroup with who is on the team. Figure out what people are capable of and come up with a list of tasks to accomplish. There is some major client fixes required, a testing team needed to run the testnet and make sure the forked chain will be accepted and run right and a laundry list of about 100 things that need to be addressed. Figure out what those items are, assign priorities, and determine what can be done and when. Pretty much SCRUM the dev's and contributors.

3) Setup a community again. The IRC chats were rocking in the past but limited with info and updates. There is devs but it is time to expand outside of that and provide a unified team that meets the goals above. Running a coin is like running a startup or any project. There is all tasks and should not be in the face of just one person making all the calls and wearing all the hats. There will never be daily updates but there needs to be community leaders and devs.

4) Do not hype changes and bullshit. Get together and form the plan of above and launch the new website, roadmap, and project face in full steam. The trust is gone. Some people think Payu is full of it and the novelty died off. There needs to be something new and while yes, there was a lot that Payu did, he needs to meet with the whole team and stay in touch to also be part of the roadmap from the dev side but also the work he does. He is the one fighting the battle in the public, he needs to also understand that people are going to ask questions. Again, not daily updates but a communication release and a state of the coin and how much of the road map is progressing is huge.

5) Follow the roadmap. Be transparent. Admit when something isn't going right and stay ahead of the FUDers. There will always be trolls but feeding them questionable posts and information, they will rip it apart. Stay consistent on changes, make corrections when needed, and rebrand the project to what it should be and keep the mission of Payu going forward.

Just my 2 cents. Take it as you wish.
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MZC][SHA-256] MAZACOIN *First Sovereign Currency* ANDROID WALLET AVAIL.!! on: June 12, 2014, 06:08:21 PM

Is merge mining mazacoin even working?
To this day I haven't seen any realworld example of a pool merge-mining mazacoin, so I am not even sure if this was just another promise without real development?

It was an empty promise - it is not, and never was, in the code. IIRC boxxa said that he'd put the auxpow code in, but AP never pulled it into the main tree.

I had the code staged and was working on a pool for Mazacoin that also would contribute to a Bitcoin pool. I was told by AP there will be no fork and to stop working on the Linux client as that is not going to be updated this year and we will never touch the block chain to enable any new features.
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MZC][SHA-256] MAZACOIN *First Sovereign Currency* ANDROID WALLET AVAIL.!! on: June 11, 2014, 10:03:25 PM
While I never did see eye to eye with AP, he did get the coin off the ground and I do respect him but the project needs to rebuild. They gotta structure the team, provide a road map and get a lot of shit together. Will def be a tough climb and they need someone to step in and work with Payu and watch the devs to get the shit squared away and come up with some vision.
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MZC][SHA-256] MAZACOIN *First Sovereign Currency* ANDROID WALLET AVAIL.!! on: June 11, 2014, 06:40:27 PM
So there was no kgw (with fix) implementation or digishield  to try and deter mining pools from switching on off for this coin?

If not probably this is the first thing that should be done before talking about reviving the coin.

Yes, a Kimoto Gravity Well implementation will be included in the fork.

Why KGW? It is one of the slowest diff calcs out there and kills resources on Android.

What the hell does KGW which is a difficulty algorithm to do with Android?

This probably was the weirdest thing I saw since the newbie invasion

-Clients run diff calcs to accept blocks.
-Diff calcs that run averages are continually doing math to accept blocks with the correct diff.
-MZC has always wanted to be mostly android based due to their basis as defined out previously which is why the client never was updated and Android was paying bounties
-Coins that have Andoid/Java clients using KGW complain that the floating point used by the diff causes a lot of issues on their devices such as battery drain due to its higher processing need with problems in floating point math in Java

DGW used fixed point math which ran much better in java thus reducing the complaints by Android users for battery drain.

Bigger picture here that needs to be considered and not look at things like this in a narrow view but the larger goal of a project.

Make sense? There was a thread on here a while back when the diff calcs were coming out that also had some info on Android users having issues.

wtf , coins go to moon?
again like "just believe us"

Looking at your post history, you seem to have no understanding of technical aspect of crypto and any detailed explanation of this wouldn't help your "hang out and bitch" attitude in multiple threads.
