141  Economy / Gambling / Re: Heads or Tails [Win 400% your initial bet!] on: July 16, 2011, 11:50:02 AM
I don't get it, if it's heads or tails then the possible win is 200% of your initial bet at max, right? Where's the other 200% coming from, do you flip two coins?
142  Economy / Gambling / Re: [JACKPOT 4.87 BTC] Bitcatch round #4. Now with jackpot. on: July 16, 2011, 11:47:29 AM
This looks like a pyramid scheme but..How can someone lose?

EDIT: Wow didn't realize that it only pays out after no1 has entered for 24 hours. Now I'm pissed I entered.
Um. It pays out instantly, it ends when no one's entered for 24 hours.

And how do you think people can lose? Same way they do in any pyramid scheme. The longer it goes on, the further the gap between new entries and paid entries. I would say that people entering now are probably not going to end up getting a payout, the gap is getting too wide.
143  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ROUND #3] BitCat.ch - automated bitcoin game on: July 15, 2011, 05:33:06 PM
I've noticed delays, maybe it's because of bitcoin transactions?

Don't forget to factor in the 5% jackpot fee and the 0.03 fee that goes to the owner.

Edit: I think we're meant to be discussing here now though.

Differences with Bitcoin:

Blabla.

1. Invest in me, I am BTC, or any other commodity, currency, or investment, I only gain in value. However, nobody actually creates a justifyable increase in value outside of speculation/being told so(150% gainz!!111). It is thus "empty". There is no reason a BTC, or any other commodity, currency, or investment, should be worth something other than people who "believe the story".

2. Get told: Oh sure, cash out anytime you want with the profits made! It's a currency!

3. If all BTC, or any other commodity, currency, or investment, holders were to attempt to cash out RIGHT NOW, there would be a huge percentage that would not be able to find any takers.

4. Different to ponzi in 0 ways.

5. Huh

6. Profit!

So, what you're basically saying is that bitcoins, USD, gold, silver, wheat, salt, rice, beef, pork, etc, are all Ponzi schemes.

looks like round4 is gonna end lol i needed 2 more bets to get a pay out lol probly.
Dude, every time someone makes a bet the time is extended to 24 hours remaining. If you only need 2 more bets, there's no way you're going to miss out, I wouldn't be surprised if people entering now eventually got paid out.

Yea true i should get paid out but you notice how long it takes to pay people now its getting very hard when the game is this long to get paid.

...well, yeah, that is generally how pyramid games work.

That person later went on to steal some money from me, so I now distrust all UFO evangelists by extension, so I wouldn't place a bet with you holding the money (you might be him, for all I know), but I would definitely place a bet against that event if someone I trusted was holding the money.
No offense, but that's like saying a black guy stole your money so you distrust all black people.
Not exactly, you're born black and don't have any control over it, whereas ideology and beliefs are something you adopt.

So, do a chargeback. I guess that's a benefit to Paypal chargebacks, if the scammer's on the other end he can be foiled...

Google will kick Paypal's ass by endorsing bitcoins.
Except, they won't. Tongue

Plenty of people, especially those who pay attention to economic and tech/geek news, have heard of Bitcoin. Whether or not these people are Bitcoiners is another story, but plenty of people have heard of it. Just look at articles on it by impartial journalists that don't take part in Bitcoin, they're often talking to their audience in terms of "You know Bitcoin, that cryptocurrency that's been making the rounds lately?", "The latest xyz on Bitcoin" and etc. They're operating under the assumption that the readers have some knowledge of the thing.
156  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ROUND #3] BitCat.ch - automated bitcoin game on: July 13, 2011, 08:45:31 PM
Disregard, looks like the order of payout for payments that got through on Jul 13 02:42:11 got shuffled around for some reason. Some payouts stayed at the same place before and after a refresh, thus the confusion.

Is there a problem with payouts?

Payments underneath the red line were made after payouts reached the level they are currently at (the 545c pay hash). Considering that that is 4.82 bitcoins, shouldn't payouts have progressed?

157  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Is Dwolla calling other people? on: July 13, 2011, 02:04:02 PM
If they call you, just check if the callback number is the same as on their website
That could easily be faked, you can get the ability to spoof caller ids for chump change. Regardless, I'm pretty sure these calls are legit.

Everything is fine, I am still mailing the coins, and I hope to send the last shipments tomorrow. I've been sanding them for a while.

It is starting to seem weird. As someone else asked, has anyone actually received their resin coins?
