Both of these teams were a mere afterthought preseason, as each was predicted to have a mediocre to average year, at best, with virtually all predictions having them finish in the bottom half overall. When it comes to record, both teams are still around average, but each one has shone signs of life that they could end up the season with playoffs potential. The Raiders have had nice wins against solid Colts and Bears teams and nearly had another upset against the Texans last week. The 3-3-1 Lions could easily have 5 or 6 wins under their belt, if it weren't for several 4th quarter collapses. Oakland has shown a definite spark offensively, behind quarterback Derek Carr and RB1, Josh Jacobs, who is averaging an impressive 5 yards per carry. On the other side of things, Detroit's Matt Stafford is having a career year, making fewer mistakes and easily finding targets, such as Kenny Golladay and Rookie Tight End, TJ Hockenson. This game is close to call, with the Raiders currently favored by just 2.5, and if the Lions were at home, that number could easily be flipped to the other side. But home field advantage does matter and Oakland should find a way to cover today, though closely.
