Rule 1 . Do some research
Rule 2.  Don't let your self get tucked up
Rule 3.  If it looks to good to be true, it probably is.
Rule 4.  If you have any doubts, don't do it.
Rule 5.  I should have followed my own rules hahahahaha

What are these rules?

Btw, Rule 5 was funny.

These are the rules I set myself when I look into a new coin. Do you think a guide for newbies is a good idea?
I think so. Do you have anything in mind to start?

Well, it's going to be hard because it's trying to get your point across to newbies without making them think they're planks!

I'll have a think and see what I can come up with, with the new POD in place it means that people will be able to trust certain developers a bit more so that will help

Very nice work.

Once the market place is ready for physical good, I'll get some Toners/cartridges, all different types of light bulbs if there is a ll for these types of things

while i understand that a lot of us are very excited about this coin.

please, let's all pause and take a moment before posting.

first, if you have a disagreement with someone, please pm them. the open forum is not the correct venue for settling petty squabbles.

second, please consider your post volume on this particular thread. if your name appears on a post more than once per page, you are over posting. this is important because it can discourage new members from participating when a thread becomes dominated by just a few users.

third, constant post about the price of the coin going up or down does absolutely nothing to help the coin. it only makes you appear to be a noob because, that's what noobs  do.

with all the possibilities this coin has, i'd really like to hear how everyone plans on running their mantis web node. what kind of hardware do you have planned? what's your internet connection? firewall options?

nothing but love for you guys.

So I have never run a node before but I would happily look into this? What hardware do you suggest for this? my internet connection I would hope can carry anything you throw at it ( 75mb down and 19mb up )

i'm gonna try to run it dedicated on an old dual core laptop with 4 gigs of ram. that way i have built in battery back up and low power consumption.

i've got the 300/20 time warner cable, so i don't think bandwidth will be an issue.

i don't care for consumer firewall/routers, so i just run smoothwall on an old dell optiplex 740 small form factor. these were used a lot in corporate environments, so you can find them refurbed on ebay for about $50. all you need to add is another network card and bam, kickass firewall/router with plenty of throughput.

i also have battery backup for all the network gear and switches to guarantee maximum uptime.

here's a nice article regarding the latest defcon router hack http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9250322/15_new_vulnerabilities_reported_during_router_hacking_contest?taxonomyId=85&pageNumber=1

I might try running one on a old laptop too, although if I need to buy some more hardware the fiancé might go mental haha!

I did have an old ups until about 6 months ago, never really used it as I never had any issues with power! Bet I will now though lol

I was worried about the price, damned fudsters evrywhere. Hopefully the price will recover once the webpage is up and running. 4 more days to go!

No worries here so far , miners also will be dumping still for about 2 more days until POW is finished

No worries about the price here either, It's not something I look at everyday mind you.

Yes but many people unfortunetaly don`t look at potential of the coins but when they see price jumping from 1k to 2 ,3k they sell at once they don`t even think the price can go to thousands or hundreds of k. The crypto world used them to do it.

But there are many great devs around ,when MantisWeb promises will be fullfilled and anyone can become a node and gain very nice profit by holding big amounts of coins for longer time, also getting bonuses for transaction fees we will see hundred k for sure.

I am believer in crypto world and there are devs and coins who bring life to this world , i hope Mantis will join them

Looking at this coin on paper, it has the potential to go a long way.

I have no interest in stopping scams - humans (Lego people) only learn things when there is a cost.

I however will point humorous scams like "NXT" out and help educate people.

if they don't listen, i also don't care, and find it amusing when they lose wealth.

They live, they learn, right?

And they don't come back. That can't be good for business.

And the intention of this thread is to reduce the amount of people's lost. Some people just don't listen to others, it's like they want to be scammed. On some coin ann threads when I ask the dev to use his\her original username, other people don't back me up, instead they support the dev, Actually, the bagholder situation happens, which is mentioned on the OP.

I agree with what you're trying to do here, but in my experience, people don't listen at all!

I was over in the Mantiscoin thread yesterday and even though the dev has so far lived up to promises someone decided to spread fud and started a panic.

It's not just the scam coins we have an issue with here, it's muppets that start spreading crap because they want cheap coins.

Apparently most of the coins have at least one permanent fudder. Democracy doesn't work all time. A self moderated thread is the solution. What do you think?

I am all for letting people say what they think, but they should back it up and actual facts. I can ignore fud, it's easy to spot.

I'm sure it will, but a lot of coins are down at the moment, take it steady and keep watching the market Smiley

Sadly I can't offer any buy support yet as I went pretty much all in at 600 sats!

I do have some other funds but they are tied up as I would be taking a loss as things stand.

The contest looks good by the way!
