681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BANKSYCOIN OFFICIAL LAUNCH # NEW CRYPTO COIN on: January 18, 2015, 02:49:41 AM
here's another problem i'm getting Smiley

when i start my daemon i get this.
dbenv.open LogDir=/root/.Banksycoin/database ErrorFile=/root/.Banksycoin/db.log

it then takes a minute or so to become accessible.

i tried deleting my wallet.dat but still get the same error with a new wallet

maybe i'll try deleting everything !!! and see what happens Cheesy

===
edit : nope. didnt work. i cant think of anything else to try apart from rebuilding the whole thing.
682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BANKSYCOIN OFFICIAL LAUNCH # NEW CRYPTO COIN on: January 18, 2015, 01:32:45 AM

For Linux:

Code:
$ cd ~/.banksycoin && rm -f debug.log && ln -s /dev/null debug.log

Ref: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=46709.0

this needs to be Banksycoin not banksycoin

Code:
$ cd ~/.Banksycoin && rm -f debug.log && ln -s /dev/null debug.log

683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BANKSYCOIN OFFICIAL LAUNCH # NEW CRYPTO COIN on: January 17, 2015, 09:18:55 AM
strangely i just had a 14gb debug.log

i didnt even look at it Smiley just deleted it.
my daemon is maybe a month old. so that's how long it took. lol

--
hmm. thought to check my other daemon .. only a 9 gb log Cheesy

now to work out how to turn that fucker off.

I had this problem in the early days.

Here is the link to my post about it and the solution.

Hope it helps you out.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=684008.msg7889832#msg7889832

oh ace. i'll give that a burl.

Quote
I found a workaround by adding this line to the banksycoin.conf file
printtoconsole=1

edit . zomg it's totally terrible iwht a daemon .. it's just taking up the whole terminal with its incessant spewing.. no wonder it got so big. lol

going to try another solution i found here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=46709.0

// hmm brings to mind that's there a way you can run stuff under linux comand line in different "windows" that might be another solution.

this actually seems something which needs to be fixed.

i had a look, and the addresses i've received payments from seem to be all zeroed at about the same date i received tx.

so i guess they used new addresses pretty regularly..

////

site now has a russian info. google says lol.

Disbursed. Begin active pest control!

Payments are made as promised control of the site, but now all users with a significant amount of capacity will not receive payment until such time has not yet provided information about all users that are active in order to destroy the organizational structure of the service. If you know of such persons, please inform their contact details to the E-mail hpanswer@gmail.com and they will be banned forever. Also in the case of confirmation of data with these people will work. For providing reliable data about the actions of users and organizing work to discredit the service, you will be paid a fee of 0.05 to 0,5 BTC and resumed regular payments a high priority and profitability.

All users who show patience and prudence will be rewarded.

The team working on a new service permitted in the territory of the Russian Federation project using profits accumulated over the past few years, and there are already good results.

Set the following priorities and limitations of payment:

The first priority of payments get users residing in the territory of the Russian Federation.
Payments will be carried out at least 1 time in 14 days, and if there are good opportunities - every 7 days.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Angry ???PLEASE can someone refer me to a guide to build 1124 for ubuntu 14? Huh Angry

For now i just need to earn vpncoin on a system with enough hd space. my windows pc's have no space and i've lost coin and had system failures due to this. Cry there is now 2.6gb i am unable to recover or use, ever. its just gone. i've never had this happen in linux.

ive spent days googleing and searching the hundreds - millions of threads here, its hard to find threads. sometimes google blocks it.

i know of threads that had guides and step by step. I just can't get back to them after i had found them. way too many off threads. it's easy to get lost and waste time reading all the thank yous and suggestions and chatter and interesting stuff people put here.... instead of a specific, clearly titled, organized and relevent thread. Most time has been wasted going to threads of the same title as the dev's original post.  Undecided

vpncoind, is not the full wallet? with all the stuff that earns money? and is useful? not sure how to use it. I do desire the full familiar gui.

Have you tried a low level format for your HD ?
I have fixed often bad sectors like that.

vpncoind lacks the earning faculties.
you need the full qt . only available on windows i believe.

if i try to send BSY the amount gets restricted and successfully sent transactions don't come through.
at the moment there are more than 2 hours waiting time between blocks.
anyone having similar issues?

ther'es an odd thing i've come across with a few different coin daemons.

sometimes you can only send roughly speaking slightly less than 50% of total balance. which is quite annoying when you want to send the entire contents cos the amount you can send always decreases.. until at some point you can send a constant amount.

i have no idea what causes it. but it seems to be a generic crypto issue and not specifically banksycoind

cool thanks Smiley even knowing they were there it took me a minute to realise those big icons were what you're talking about. lol

it may be beneficial to consider how to preserve those coins that are distributed to crypto newbs. it is very easy to lose yr coins.
hardrive fail, phone falls in toilet etc .

one thing that comes to mind is a brain wallet type idea.
where a unique address is generated from a passphrase, which means you can jump on any appropriate wallet and generate the same address from the same phrase - catch being it needs to be a sufficiently secure passphrase because *badpeople* will attempt to bruteforce those phrases.
for example 12 unrelated words should be more than sufficient. - these are easier to keep a copy of than a standard address.
eg.  finally swept octopus blackboard clouds ballet hammer gravel cigarette giraffe cheese toenail
when entered into the brain wallet will generate an address and QR etc.
see https://brainwallet.github.io/ for an example

another option is to have a centralised online wallet, where distributed coins are stored until user gets a private wallet <-- but they do seem to get hacked at times Smiley

a third would be to distribute in mind without distributing.  ie set up a system where someone can log in 6 months later and claim their distributed coins - the coins would be held in the central fund til that point.
this would also help in that after some cut off date, those who were never going to claim their coins lose them, and they revert to the distributors.

hey this is great , i was talking with the guys at bittrex and they have systems that work pretty good for signing up newbs, i know owner of QuadrigaCX and we are in some talks about some security ease of use , the one thing is Canada is a bit behind on blockchain innovation but the people are open to using it, so we are hoping to bridge this gap , brain wallet looks rad im gonna have to bring this up at the next meet up this week , i guess so everyone knows i meet up once a week to a bitcoin meet up where everyone opensources our ideas so we are all working toward a goal Smiley have you heard of trust index with coinsource ? should i do it or is it a waste of money ?

is it like POD ? it seems really only to keep a small percentage of bitcointalk heads happy.
if you're distributing widely outside of this small cultural backwater it probably isnt necessary if you're open as to who you are.

I will make the time line a bit better , upon launch as per timeline i will send a link. i've made myself fairly transparent on this forum you can find me on linked in or twitter i am a very reputable person in the film industry(links at the bottom of the page , look at my twitter i have tweets from @E_L_James (writer of 50 shades of grey) I filmed 50 shades of grey and will be starting the new star trek next month, im not worried about 100 billion coins being to great of a number. If you can fill me in with why 100 billion is to many?, our goal is to give 1,000,000 fans and followers of famous people i am Friends with to give out 10,000 each, https://twitter.com/Spicylilpepper will be giving 10,000 shares out to every one of her 800,000 followers, so mass users are not a problem at this moment it will come down to the marketing and how fast we can build jumpshares APIs I just got back from CES in Vegas so i'm pretty tired, i will try and answer questions on here as often as i can i will also update the grammar and spelling lol and keep adding to the time line, Feel free to ask questions and give pointers I am only human and make mistakes and am always open to help and constructive criticism i look forward to the launch and sending everyone there wallets !

Ildiko aka spicylilpeper has about 800g including twitter facebook and instagram Smiley + her network is a million plus:)

Thanks for the info in the prior comment, there is a few  main objectives to prevent the pump and dump and it will start with people that arnt used to crypto as they typically dont even know what a bitcoin is rather then how to trade it off, our attention will be in how they can use them rather then get rid of them as long as there worth is in there use they will maintain there worth. using businesses and famous people  as faucits is one way we are trying, giving game companies a distributor title also maintains a constant use effect. I will also be using my media connections at some point to bring awareness to jumpshares and bitcoin. i dont want to be one of those people who puts down all this crazy stuff we want to achieve. But i am talking with a few of the bigger movie companies involving the sony hack so the new user reach has a major potential and time will tell Smiley. i can say this i am looking forward to passing it out to the cast of star trek.........

696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Jump Shares Distribution 2015 on: January 13, 2015, 04:00:26 AM
the major issue with 100 billion coins. is that even at the lowest price against btc (1 sat) is a market cap of >1000 btc
any larger price would be impossible unless large quantities of coins were held by users for future use.

unless this coin actually gets some real world usage/cred fairly quickly. a huge percentage of early giveaways may be dumped.
then if the coin then gets any price traction. there will be some large stake holders from buying huge quantities of JSD at very cheap prices.

the coin price will then be easily manipulateable. and will suffer many inglorious price pump/dumps reduceing investor/owner confidence. and possibly the coin will be destroyed.

possible solutions will be to create a reason for owners to hold. or a higher price (through demand).
but mainly to create a steady trickle of coins into the marketplace rather than a huge influx/dump onto eager recipients.

if you are a long time follower of crypto's you will notice how many coins get pumped/dumped to oblivion. yours could be one of those perhaps unless you handle distribution carefully.

plausibly, you could generate a huge database of user addresses for giveaways, and pay out regularly to those addresses over time.
eg 1000 in the first week, then 100 /week . this would create limited supply increasing over time.
however there will always be some users who will just dump all their coins, and there will be some who will manipulate the market for their own profits.

in my opinion. the trickle over time into user addresses seems a good way to go.
VPNCoin have been doing something similar with huge premine being givenaway, they have a current total coin count of 400 million, have an awesome idea (VPN network through the coin network), with constant working devs, integration into a larger crypto network (superNET) and were maintaining aprice just over 100 sats for a month (just dropped with BTC plummet).

here's a spreadsheet showing somewhat of VPN distributions
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1z9oxfEcy69IxDuhGAwl70xfon_Knr_0OgVqBjwtUYPc/edit#gid=0

//
a trickle effect would also be created by giving away coins to non crypto people.
how many of those targeted recipients are currently trading cryptos? and how many might never even claim their coins?

trickling coins in to user addresses over time would not effect these people at all. as they may only get their coins one day when they realise they own some useful/valuable currency

what would be initially useful, is the ability to trade digital images on the website.
being cheap and forever, could create a bit of a movement in the coin.

good stuff Cheesy
i'm currently looking at creating digital art and look forward to a good platform for distribution of such.

i think a useful option would be to be able to mine to a constant address.
that way one could only worry about keeping one key.

there are obvious benefits to both a constant/different address. so having both available may be beneficial. and would not require a fork so would be easy to introduce.

We're resuming work of service in a protected mode today.

Despite all the warnings from service's administration many users have succumbed panic moods and have taken a number of actions which discredited and abused standard and full work of service.

Also attackers have succeeded in getting part of information about service's users and also, in small portions, their authorisation data.

All these deeds have led to big mining effectiveness reduction and many other negative effects.

Despite all that had happened, we're resuming all payments from today (2015-01-05) taking into account information and technical harm that our infrastructure suffered.

We've set a new mode and limitations of payments:

The first priority will get all the users who live in Russian Federation.
Payouts will take place once in a 14 days or more often, and if we'll have a good opportunity - once in 7 days.
Users who take some actions for project discrediting or any other doings that can potentially harm our service will get low priority of payments - up to the full payments restriction.
Our team has always understood all the risks about this project and by the process of growing it we've launched another number of similar services. In the most successful of them that we've launched 3.5 months ago we've taken into account all the experience we had while HP service grows. It's much more perfect and attractive for these points:

It's oriented to Eastern audience, because they generally more advanced and creditworthy.
Mechanism of payment using VISA and MasterСard realized.
There are web-cameras showing data centers work in real time.
More than 10 languages interface translations.
Modern, technical and light design of the site.
Hundreds of other features.
And this is only the most perfectly developed service, we have launched and we're testing more than 20 other types of services. All users showed their discretion and support from the start of our services will have their reward in the end.

Thanks for your support and understanding.
