241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] microCoin MRC - Scrypt-Jane - nFactor - Relaunch January 10th 17:00 (GMT) on: January 08, 2014, 08:17:55 PM
Relaunch moved back to January 10th 17:00 (GMT) due to all the Coinye West hype.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad some thought is going into this coin. What will I need to do to mine this again at launch? I already downloaded the wallet last time. Will it need to be re-downloaded, or can I delete the blockchain and just wait until launch?
You'll need to download the new wallet and miner (or change the startT value in the .bat file for the old miner). You probably won't need a wallet or miner, since a pool will be set up so that you can start mining there from the start. I suggest using the pools from the start. It will be more secure for the entire network and you'll probably even get more from there than from solo mining.

Added pools to the OP and updated block rewards. Everything should be set for relaunch tomorrow. Website should be ready soon, too.

Bounty for website claimed and relaunch is confirmed to have a website from launch. Thank you for all your offers.

Now all is well, the blocks are confirmed.
mining closed?
Yes. Even though the network seems to be working now, we can't allow one or two people to own such a big share of microCoins. There are other modifications that need to be done as well.
add pos
We're looking into adding POS but it is not completely certain if we'll add it in the relaunch. We will add it at some point, though.

everything seems to be running smooth now

The coin is getting relaunched; all the coins you have now are worthless.

I do want to be part of this coin, as I like Script Jane coins because they don't produce as much heat as Script coins do. Please keep us up to date. It would be great if there is a (WORKING) pool online as soon as the coin is launched.
We are aiming at getting a pool completely working and setup for the relaunch so that everyone can mine there from the start. The block rewards will also be changed to be more fair and have less extreme changes. And most importantly the starting difficulty will be changed to higher so the same that happened today can't happen again. We are also looking at bringing POS but this is not certain. We are however going to implement POS later on. I'm certain that the relaunch will turn out much better, even more so since there is a week of time to make changes.
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] microCoin MRC - Scrypt-Jane - nFactor - Bounties - Released! on: January 04, 2014, 05:54:46 PM
Well. I admit this went horribly. And I can guarantee that I am not the one getting all the blocks. Not that it matters. I'll have to restart the coin, because I don't want one or two people owning such a big chunk. As far as I am concerned, the current blockchain is not official anymore. microCoin will be relaunched with a higher difficulty and possibly changed block rewards and POS.
We deeply apologize for wasting your time. Hopefully you will still be interested when the coin is relaunched.

I don't get it why new coins always start with so low diff. Higher the diff up for fuck sake...

Because dev is low-ping / low diff mining the first 10,000 blocks, that's 4,000,000,000 MRC before we get in...
All of my blocks have been orphans too so far. If someone big is mining here then it is not me.
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] microCoin MRC - Scrypt-Jane - nFactor - Bounties - Released! on: January 04, 2014, 05:19:27 PM
Wait for the difficulty to adjust. The difficulty is extremely low at the moment.
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] microCoin MRC - Scrypt-Jane - nFactor - Bounties - Released! on: January 04, 2014, 05:09:36 PM
There should be no viruses or trojans in the miner/wallet. I'm sure these are the same "viruses" they would claim cgminer to have, too.
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] microCoin MRC - Scrypt-Jane - nFactor - Bounties - Released! on: January 04, 2014, 05:01:33 PM
The qt wallet+miner and source are now available for download.

Do i need to install a new miner program besides cgminer?  And if so i cant find any links to the program scrypt-jane?

TIA
The microCoin miner comes in a download link with the wallet and is used almost exactly like cgminer.

So we should be able to also use commands like --thread-concurrency 11200 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-engine 1020 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-powertune -20 --gpu-fan 85 -w 64   ?

Yes.

1 1/2 hours to launch, right?

Yes, that's correct.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] microCoin MRC - Scrypt-Jane - nFactor - launching Jan 4th 2014! on: January 04, 2014, 03:28:10 PM
am i understanding correctly that you can not use cgminer?
Other alternatives is not an option for me. Find this coin kinda intriguing, so would be a shame if cgminer doesn't work Sad
The miner is used almost exactly like cgminer so it shouldn't be hard to use if you know how to use cgminer.
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] microCoin MRC - Scrypt-Jane - nFactor - launching Jan 4th 2014! on: January 04, 2014, 01:47:13 PM
Looks like  a Quick quick coin clone or velocity coin clone..... but this time no POS to keep the chain healthy after the big rewards vanish.

So really nothing new and an inferior coin to the ones just launched a couple of days ago.

= no point coin again.

Actually, microCoin originates from TIX, which comes from Copperbars. I'm not sure if VelocityCoin uses the changed nfactor, either. And POS can be implemented later on, but at the moment it's not relevant.

Yes, we know all of that. So your coin has NO pos which is the only thing that keeps these kind of coins running after the easy high value blocks are done with going. So let's look at it like this

Yac was the first to use the Nfactor to push down gpu after a few weeks

then came copper bars - with scrypt-jane
then

tix

then

apple coin

then

quick quick coin

then

velocity coin

now your one

so now you are going to clone this idea after we already have all of these coins, but now you are leaving out POS which makes it even more substandard??

Yeah we need this coin now....can't wait.

Please don't realease a clone of a clone of a clone of clone of a clone of a clone of a clone of a clone

what is the point really???

Don't take it personally i will be trying to point out on every single new release the truth that new coins with no new innovation are totally pointless.

I understand. And it's good that you tell people the truth. However you can see my stance on the matter a few posts above as I made a long reply to another person. microCoin doesn't really aim to be innovative, nor does it aim to be a quick buck. And as I said, POS can be implemented later when it is more relevant.
259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] microCoin MRC - Scrypt-Jane - nFactor - launching Jan 4th 2014! on: January 04, 2014, 12:45:55 PM
Whats the purpose of this?
Or is it an coin without an purpose and mainly to earn a quick buck?
I like scrypt-jane, but every coin need a purpose, idea otherwise I am
afraid the coin wont last long...

And I haved read the first page, but arent all the popping coins saying the same?

Well, my view is a bit different. First of all, no, the coin isn't meant for earning a quick buck. It can make quick money during the nfactor period for investors and miners but that's not all it's meant for. The way I see it there needs to be more cryptocurrencies that actually aim at what cryptocurrencies are good at and that is being a currency and trading instrument. I think it's not acceptable when cryptocurrencies are made with an idea that really is pointless, such as a currency that's meant for buying or trading specific things or to be used in a specific way. All of those can be done with something that just aims to be a currency in general. There is only a handful of cryptocurrencies that actually have their innovation within the coin (a new hashing algorithm with no point isn't useful innovation, either). And that's good. They aim to be something different than a virtual currency. This isn't what microCoin aims to be, though. microCoin aims to be what virtual currencies in general should be. And that is being a long-term investment than is inherently deflationary and a convenient way of storing and transferring wealth. We will create or have others create services that further help microCoin have real value and some of those services could even have innovation, even if microCoin itself isn't inherently innovative. Anyone can and has the right to choose if they leave microCoin to be a "quick buck" for them, but we will still keep developing services and helping microCoin grow.
