81  Economy / Economics / Re: MassMutual Fined in GameStop Fallout on: September 19, 2021, 09:29:26 AM
I'm not sure why they should be the scapegoat?

It seems like that the hedgies and their friends just need someone to blame for the mass liquidation of their positions.

If anything, Robinhood should be liable for their pausing of trading activities for quite a while following the GME short squeeze. That was completely uncalled for and definitely warrants some legal action imho.
82  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: G A M B L E R S ❗❗ What are your thoughts on this? on: September 18, 2021, 10:19:39 PM
I think that Casino B is more attractive to me due to the community engagement aspect.

However, I can see why most people would still default to Casino A.

People like consistency and knowing that they're always going to get a provably fair outcome despite the lower odds of winning that they may have. You have to understand that when you do your R&D in this space. Perhaps include a play against house option alongside your option B?
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: OpenSea admits insider trading on: September 18, 2021, 09:53:36 PM
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-58585342

This does not bode well for NFTs.

Exactly the same things banks do.

Why am I not suprised?

The whole NFT space is a mess.

It makes absolutely no sense that people would be willing to buy & sell JPEGs for millions without some sort of fishy insider trading.

They claim that this is 'art' but at the end of the day anyone can make these things with Photoshop/Illustrator or even an AI bot. Heck, there was one project that took off which just had a bunch of text on the screen...

Regulators will probably jump onboard soon to track this activity.
84  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Will crypto exchanges like Crypto.com automatically report tax information? on: September 18, 2021, 09:16:43 PM
When trading on a centralized exchange like Binance, Crypto.com, and all the others, will they automatically report tax statements to the CRS in Europe or will I have to do that myself?

In my country they don't automatically prefill that info to your tax return.

Generally, I think that capital gains is not automatically reported and you're much better off just use a third party crypto tax service that allows you to import trades into a portal and get out a detailed tax statement.

Never assume that something will be automatically filled for you when it comes to taxes. Even pre-filled info should be checked.
85  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Uk most deprived areas have the Highest number of gambling outlets. on: September 17, 2021, 11:52:05 AM
This is quite an unfair comparison I think.

There are simply so many variables that could have gone into this conclusion. Remember that correlation is definitely not equal to causation.

It could be possible that there is some other variable that has had a causative effect on this relationship. It could be that rent is cheapest in these areas and that is why physical casinos are setting up shop here... Nobody knows.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: End of bull run so we sell everything? on: September 17, 2021, 01:13:39 AM
This has been something I have found difficult to decide on . When this bill run ends in a couple of months time should I sell all my VET and XRP then buy back in when the market turns bearish until the next bullrun?

Or do I only sell a portion of what I have and hold the rest for another 4 years. Reason I am asking is could XRP and VET continue to rise once the bull run ends ? I obviously don’t want to sell all my tokens to find they are continuing to rise in a bear market

What are your thoughts ?

How do you plan on timing the market exactly?

I don't think that it's a good idea at all. You should have more time in the market if you want to actually make money in the long run, not try to time every bull and bear cycle.

A simple logical exercise: If there was indeed a way to time these bull/bear markets, then why isn't there way more billionaires? Timing 1 market cycle can probably give you 100%+ returns.
87  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you think about youtube/twitch marketing? Is it ethical? on: September 17, 2021, 12:13:21 AM
We all have seen dozen videos of streamers on twitch/youtube who play with huge amount of money and sometimes win a lot. Overall, the main idea behind these streams is that if you have huge bankroll, then you have a higher chance of win greater amounts of money. This is done in order to attract people with higher bankroll instead of low ones. While I was always saying that adult person is independent in his/her choice and if he/she does anything, it's only his fault, I still look at this marketing like a dirt trick to attract people with bankroll more than they are afford to lose.

Most of the times I have seen youtubers who were using high quality equipment, tech support, etc and had different casino themes on their video but were acting like an actors and were swearing that they were playing with their own money.

So, what do you guys think, is this kind of marketing ethical?

I think that it is unethical only if the streamers does not declare the affiliation.

But unfortunately, most people don't declare this affiliation.

There is nothing wrong with people streaming even as affiliates as long as they have made this clear to the audience from the get-go. And there is definitely nothing wrong with casinos themselves operating twitch streams.
88  Economy / Gambling / Re: ProvablyFair.me | Bet Verifiers | Fair gambling 🎲 🏆🍀 on: September 16, 2021, 11:50:32 PM
I really like this site.

I think that it is important for anyone that is gambling with a decent amount of money to verify each and every bet that they do as soon as they make the bet. A lot of the times people don't take advantage of this.

There are actually sites such as 999dice that have dubious claims re: provably fair. So it's definitely not something that is just theoretical.
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Time to buy some low cap coins on: September 16, 2021, 11:31:27 PM
I think that most low cap coins are going to be a money pit for the years ahead.

A lot of institutional investors are currently joining the cryptospace and they are not going to be able to bear the risk of these low cap coins. They will likely instead flood to blue chip cryptos such as ETH, BTC, ADA etc.

If you are investing in low caps, diversify strongly.
90  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I think I have a gambling problem on: September 16, 2021, 11:15:08 PM
Hey guys! I just wanted to make this post to see whether or not you think that what I do for fun has turned into a problem, let me set the scene.

I started online gambling a while ago, at first CSGO skins gambling, then crypto gambling. I havnt lost a lot yet, but I honestly think its a problem. My idea of fun nowadays is booting up NordVPN, going to Stake, depositing crypto into the website, and gambling. I spend hours gambling, I dont lose much, but I also dont win much, I split even almost every night. But its all I can think about sometimes, when Im at school I think about gambling im gonna do when I get home. But I think my gambling might get me in trouble, im not even 18 (4 years away from it) yet and its almost all I think about sometimes. Do you guys think I should make an effort to quit?

100%.

You shouldn't let gambling engulf your life especially at this young age. Focus on your education & you will be able to make a lot more in the future.

Just keep things into perspective, man. You will probably find yourself relapse quite a few times, but you should at least look at the mathematics underlying why casinos win in the long run in the first place.

92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dead Coins on: September 12, 2021, 08:32:09 PM
Do you hold any dead coins?

'Dead Coins refer to cryptocurrencies that have been abandoned, used as scam, their website is down, has no nodes, has wallet issues, doesn't have social updates, has low volume or developers have walked away from the project.'

How should we manage dead coins?

Yes, plenty from the ICO craze a while back.

I sort of just keep them as a reminder that whatever I am investing in right now, no matter how great it looks, is probably going to encounter some problems in the future. Whether or not it survives those problems is only up to the actual quality of the project.

You can't really do anything other than this if the tokens themselves have been delisted.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Centra Tech: Founders Sentenced on: September 10, 2021, 09:23:41 PM
Completely deserved.

I remember that Centra was one of the projects that seriously jeopardised the legitimacy of the whole crypto industry a while back due to its high profile endorsements. Just goes to show that you shouldn't trust blindly in these people.

Hopefully this will act as a deterrent for anyone who wishes to attempt fraud in the cryptospace - the consequences will catch up to you.
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happen if company allocate 90% token for stake reward on: September 10, 2021, 08:26:03 AM
No.

The tokens themselves are not sufficient in order to make the PoS reward worthwhile. Allocating 90% to PoS rewards also has no value if the token itself has no value.

People think that they're getting free money, but at the end of the day they're also devaluing the existing supply of coins through emission of new ones via the PoS protocol. There is always a trade off and no free lunch.
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Do You Know Of Nfts Project That Are In The Seed Capital Stage?? on: September 10, 2021, 08:13:54 AM
I've seen people making millions of dollars selling NFTs on popular blockchain platforms. Things that were thought to be worthless are now worth a ton of cash. While all of this sounds great, it's not easy to create a unique NFT that would gain demand on the market.
How Do You Know Of Nfts Project That Are In The Seed Capital Stage??
how do you make money with NFTs?

I think that there are quite a few discord groups for this stuff. E.g. Metaverse HQ.

But at the end of the day if your only motivation for going into NFTs is to make money, you're probably a bit too late. The explosive growth of a few weeks ago have died down quite significantly and the markets are flooded with pretty shitty projects.

This is not a long term way to make money at the end of the day. Good stuff for the people who cashed out though.
96  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you scared? on: September 09, 2021, 11:37:54 PM
Hell no.

This shouldn't be a concern whatsoever to long term holders. People are way too overreactive to these things.

The short term noise is going to be continuously there, there's no doubt about it. But regulators have been trying to shut bitcoin down for years now with no avail due to the decentralization, why would they succeed now?
97  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: September 09, 2021, 01:45:38 AM
I saw a rumor today that Portland is looking into trading CJ McCollum for Ben Simmons to pair with Dame. That would be an interesting pairing in my eyes, but Dame and CJ are best friends so I’m not sure how true that is. I can’t see Dame giving the OK to Portland to ship off one of his best friends.

It will be somewhat odd and ironic if CJ will be the one to be traded. CJ defended Dame in his social media accounts and telling that Dame will stay with Portland, I also don't like that move from Portland, Dame + CJ looks solid in my opinion, it's just the role players that needs to be upgraded so that Portland will be a championship bound team. No need to break the chemistry between their superstars.

Agreed.  Only way I'd break it up is if you get a massive haul of draft picks.  Then it might make sense.  I wouldn't dump Dame though.  Dude is evil on the court.  Probably no one else I'd want to have the ball in their hands needing 2-3 points at the end of the game.

Absolutely. Dame dolla is cold as they come.

I certainly would explore trading CJ though given that their pairing hasn't worked for the past few years. Sure, CJ has been an incredibly clutch player as well and critical in last year's Denver series, but at the end of the day the results simply weren't there.

It's worth trading CJ for another superstar if available, or just upgrade the rest of the role players.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: End of bull run so we sell everything? on: September 09, 2021, 01:20:41 AM
I would probably diversify out of XRP slightly.

XRP is highly centralised and prone to regulatory attacks. People shouldn't forget what happened just a while back with the regulatory problems that they've had which drove prices down significantly.

But for the others, if you believe in decentralisation and crypto for the long run, why bother selling? You're just incurring unnecessary CGT costs if you are going to buy back again.
99  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Metaverse x Gambling on: September 09, 2021, 12:21:12 AM
Who else thinks that these kind of thing may hit mainstream sooner or later? I don't know if this is something new but seen a  news from Decentral Games that they are launching a play-to-earn Metaverse poker. Others predict next to NFTs boom that it could the the Metaverse hype. Any thoughts?

We have come a long way already from the initial gambling metaverses already. Dragon's Tale I still remember being one of the first ones.

I think that this trajectory is not going to slow in any stage in the future. The adoption of crypto as well as the enthusiasm around NFT based games and games of chance in general combine to give a very interesting dynamic going forward.

Even though a lot of the current projects likely won't survive, we may see some established sportsbooks/gambling sites transition to establishing their own metaverses on the blockchain very soon.
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gas Fee Of BNB Is Increasing on: September 08, 2021, 11:55:04 PM
Look, people were severely critical of bitcoin's transaction fees previously.

But look at BTC now - its transaction fees are literally 1-5 satoshi per byte even for the most congested periods of this month and last month, whilst ETH and BNB are climbing in gas fees like crazy.

It goes to show that one should never jump to conclusions when it comes to the scalability of products. I'm not saying that ETH/BNB aren't good. Just that things change, as they have right now.
