1383  Economy / Speculation / Re: Interesting analogy on: January 15, 2012, 10:55:57 PM
Don't worry, I just sold about half of my BTC.  The market always increases by $0.20-$0.30 hours after I sell, so... expect a rally.

TRULY EPIC!!!!!  Me too, every freaking time...  Cheesy

Your not alone brother
1384  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: January 15, 2012, 08:12:03 PM

Not just for potato chips any more!

1385  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mad Speculator now live on bitcoinica on: January 15, 2012, 07:51:24 PM
The point, in case anyone missed it, is that that's probably not a real order.  Anyone can place limit and stop order for any amount they want whether they've got money in their account to back the order.

hahaha, I just thought you were a mad fast photoshopper...
1386  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's looking a bit bearish right now on: January 15, 2012, 07:19:34 PM
Ever watch actual mud/land slides video?

Its like a slow moving one watching mtgox live..

The bid/ground is being saturated with rain, and about to let loose on the bottom.. Smiley
1387  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: January 15, 2012, 07:09:15 PM
$1.24 million in bids now.

Is that with the bid walls that just spiked dramatically in the last 5 mins ?
1388  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's looking a bit bearish right now on: January 15, 2012, 07:08:00 PM
Yeee haaaaa!

1389  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll :: Which star sign likes BTC most/least on: January 15, 2012, 06:50:07 PM
Are we looking for potential mates now ?

Im straight, the odds on here for me to meet someone is very very very small..
1390  Economy / Speculation / Re: I guess lots of geeks got their bonus before Christmas and bought bitcoin on: January 15, 2012, 06:48:48 PM

Once the price trends turn around, or even only the trend is not so convincing, the price will crash. I think the price now is at a very vulnerable point. What if after audience of the Good Wife show don't buy in bitcoin? then all the traders confidence will be broken.

Anyone basing their confidence upon a generic legal drama that happens to have a bitcoin episode is making really poor decisions. Most audience members will have zero reason to think bitcoin is anything more then a fictional idea made up for a fictional show. I'm not getting excited and expecting this to raise the price at all. Sure is fun that bitcoin is on a tv show, but any price climb tonight will be speculation and not new people jumping on board. It will take days for the 0.5% of the audience that discovers it is real to get their money on an exchange.

What about people that have already heard of bitcoin ? This is an instance of mindshare, you hear something enough that sounds intriguing, you eventually reach a point where you have to know more.

1392  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: January 15, 2012, 06:46:11 PM
where the slope to $8.00 is smooth?

I fell out of my chair...

OK, maybe not then...

It's just that so much will change before we get even close to that. The real resistance between here and even up to $7.30 is pretty strong. It is not the kind of thing that moves without some big buys coming through, and when that happens all hell breaks loose. We are not going to creep up on it all quiet like.

As a matter of fact, if I were a large investor/trader looking to increase my position on BTC now would be a good time to do it because you can buy a lot without moving the price much. Right now it is looking to me that it could take some $800,000 to break $7.30.

Now the 7.2 $ resistance is down to only 24 k BTC = 150 k $, not that much anymore...

I guess this means we are going above 7.20 in all likelihood then. We just need one big buy and we will be on our way to $8.

It will be more than one big buy, it will be several big buys that are going to happen.. Get a comfortable seat ready, its going to be interesting.. Smiley
1393  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's looking a bit bearish right now on: January 15, 2012, 06:29:05 PM
The trend line is NOT broken, you drawing lines that support your theory.

Look at the month, and take the bottoms, and connect the dots, the price will soon bounce off the trend line upwards..

but in my eyes we wont truly hit the trend line for roughly a week if we continue going sideways..

If it goes down in the short term(20-50 cents), it will touch trend line and start our little rally upwards..

reading OP again, maybe I misunderstood.. Tongue  but my point remains..
1394  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's looking a bit bearish right now on: January 15, 2012, 06:23:18 PM
I think this analysis is flawed. The crash stopped at $6.2 and now the bulls have reinforced their positions to the point where the asks look puny in comparison. We will at least test higher levels before another drop is a possibility. Currently the buyers are simply waiting for the sign, when it comes we will test at least $7.2.

Nail head, meet hammer...

Exactly

1395  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gearing up for tomorrow on: January 15, 2012, 05:31:12 AM
I think price will decrease in the short term. Similar idea to buy on the hype, sell on the news.

it would be cool if we saw a price drop tomorrow... the good wife viewers would hear about bitcoin, look in to it and see a good buy-in opportunity.

Wont happen much if at all...

1396  Economy / Speculation / Re: Well guys. The rally is over. on: January 15, 2012, 03:24:25 AM
haha i am currently unranked. however, i doubt i am up to 'dan' rankings. last time i was ranked i was at 9 kyu but it was when i was only beginning and have improved greatly since then.

What are the levels ?  many years ago an old roomate of mine claimed he used to play a 10th dan.
I've played it a few times, it was an interesting game.
1397  Economy / Speculation / Re: Well guys. The rally is over. on: January 15, 2012, 03:08:16 AM
this. think long-term guys. the MACD hasn't even crossed the EXP yet, the price seems pretty stable, and we could rally within the week.

You're a go player. Please read what you are writing there again and re-think it. Come on, you know this is not how things work. When you play, do you think about what the moves from the current game's past tell you about the situation, or about the situation and possible future moves?

Prices don't move by some magical information encoded into past prices. The price has no opinion, and also isn't something that actually moves. It's two people deciding to exchange something, affected by a lot of things that do not necessarily relate to past trades on the same market.

I do chartism sometimes, and I admit it. But I would never do so without having an off-market model to back it up. I have heard hundreds of chartist theories, all but a single one turned out bad, and the remaining one is only valid in bubble context, plus I have no idea just how useful it is. Throwing in magic words without any information on the market context, model, reasoning why it should apply this very moment is nonsensical! If that works just in the slightest, write a bot and get rich without lifting a finger!

No offense really... but be a little careful with the voodoo. It's not about whether it's right this time or last time or in some context, it's about drawing all the attention toward trying to decode information that just isn't there.

TL;DR: Chartism that needs no context is fishy, check the reasoning.

i am a go player. and the stones on the board contain all of the information i need to determine where is best to play next.

i am not really sure about what you mean by 'chartism that needs no context', but using my chart voodoo has yielded around 50% returns on my investment, just through swing trading at MtGox, just since New Year's. my latest prediction, made just after the giant overnight dump, that we would go no lower than $6, and that the uptrend will continue, has not be proven wrong yet. it is not as if the charts predict the prices, but rather one might get a good sense of where the price could be going by analyzing the data described by the charts. if the MACD is losing momentum, and the RSI, William's %R, and Money Flow are all overbought, then it's likely we are in for a reversal. these kinds of analyses consist of looking at the price and volume data that exists in the single green line on MtGox live, but looking at it through a different lens. all of the charts i use are simple oscillators and such that respond to price and volume, which make up the true 'data base' of a market, and it is price and volume that inform the moves of traders anyway, the same way the configuration of stones on a go board informs each player's very next move.

there is no data in the charts that doesn't exist in the price and volume data, but this does not invalidate their usefulness. graphic representation is one of the best ways to wrap one's head around numbers in the first place. how big is 1,000,000,000 compared to 1,000? you can't fathom such a relationship without graphic representation. as such, the charts visually communicate the relationship between patterns between price and volume in a way that we simply cannot grasp by looking at raw price and volume data.

What is your Dan ? (spelling)
1398  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: January 15, 2012, 01:43:09 AM
I just want to note that if we get another spike of the same magnitude as the previous two, it could break resistance at 7.2 and carry us all the way to 8.  However, we'll have to wait and see.

I think this scenario is the most likely to get us over $7.20 this weekend.

Otherwise it's up to $7.00 and smackdown back to 6.20s/5.80s, as per recent trends.

We are dancing on the head of a needle that has only one direction from here.. Smiley

What I see right now is epic... what is comming soon, will make believers out of the most hardened pessimists..

Will be interesting to see where we go from here.

Like your Nicholson Avatar, is that from Five Easy Pieces movie?

I actually do not know where it comes from, I would like to know though.. ?

Passing 7 is highly highly probable

If you look at the bigger versions of your avatar pic, it looks like Jack is holding a doobie in one hand   :-)

Wink why do you think I picked it ? hahahha
1399  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell Sell Sell! It's gonna crash to .99c on: January 15, 2012, 01:41:58 AM

Have you wore the shirt in public yet ?  I have to ask.. Tongue

Depression, no jobs, really really sucks. Bad.

No, I haven't, I'm a kinda well built guy, I couldn't get into it, But, I believe some children will be learning the symbol soon enough and teachers as well, I gave it to a friends kid as a gift. So, when he goes to wear it at school, bitcoin will be little more well known. I wish I could have worn it, I think most clothing places think North American people "usa & canada" are the size of Chinese people  Tongue.
