Crapcoins are more like a random ponzi scheme right? Price fluctuation as an added bonus and last one in looses! Grin

How is it a ponzi? A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to its investors from existing capital or new capital paid by new investors, rather than from profit earned by the individual or organization running the operation. - from wikipedia

They can all be pump and dumps or "scams" for all I care, but they are far from a ponzi scheme.

All this talk of buying up and mining USDe makes me sad. My 280x ship date keeps getting pushed way back T.T It started 1/28, then 2/4, now 2/23... I bet it'll get pushed even further when the 23rd comes around.......... I wanna mine USDe!!!

Where did you buy your card?

If you have the capacity, you could pickup two 270s for ~400. You'd get a better hash rate than a single 280x by a few hundred kh/s (~720->~950)

I ordered from shopblt.com. I thought about going the 270 route as well, but my current PC only has 1 PCI-e slot..... Obvious answer would be to upgrade that, but then I'd also have to upgrade the CPU and RAM at which point in time I do not have the cash for...

Try from amazon.co.uk my 3x280x arrived today

I live in the states tho. Does prime still count even if its overseas order?
I don't know, I paid 717 GBP for 3, 1-2 days delivery in Eastern Europe

Good morning/evening guys.

I can vouch for the 270s if you are on a budget jfloresk8. I got two of them and they are running  +800 kh/s without tweaking, +900 with tweaking. You do not need a new CPU and RAM to upgrade your rig/computer. I am running on the weakest Sempron CPU and the cheapest RAM I could find. All you need is a mother board with more PCI-e slots that fits your current hardware. I'm no expert, but that's how I did it Smiley
650  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Impact of Scrypt Asics on Litecoin and other scrypt coins on: February 04, 2014, 10:06:31 PM
Quick andere to this one, vertcoin.

We'll probably see a big rise in this coin and a lot of VTC clones will probably pop up

could you explain how is this coin "asic" scrypt resistant ?

This is from the ANN-thread; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=404364.0

Where does Vertcoin fit into this?

Scrypt was utilized by Litecoin to try and deter ASIC use because large memory requirements are the best way to try and make ASIC financially unfeasible.  Litecoin held out for a while, but the original memory requirements in the barebone litecoin distribution were just not high enough to lock out ASIC completely.

Vertcoin has now been released as the logical evolution of Litecoin and introduces what's known as "Adaptive N-Factor".  The N-factor component of Scrypt determines how much memory is required to compute the hashing functions.  Vertcoin N-factor increases with time to stay one step ahead of any possible ASIC development.

For the long, foreseeable future, GPU computing will be the fastest method of computation for Vertcoin, but CPU computation will eventually make gains as N-factor increases.

Due to the large demand for having a more ASIC proof currency ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=359323.0 ), Vertcoin was created using Litecoin as a base, and has an adaptive N-factor applied based on the timestamp of blocks generated.  Instead of using a fixed value of 10, such as Litecoin does, the Vertcoin N-factor begins at 11 and gradually increases over time using the following schedule:

| N        | Memory | Timestamp   | Date/Time                     |   |

Yeah that was what I was gonna say. I'm sure we will see many new scrypt-jane coins and coins utilizing N-factor in the time to come.

654  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you believe in Aliens? on: February 04, 2014, 09:49:01 PM
I don't 'believe' in them. I know for a "fact" there is a possibility they do exist, made of atoms and amino-acids just like you and me. Belief is the wrong word IMO, either they do exist in our physical realm as material beings or they don't. Belief is reserved for God or Allah etc, they do not exist in our physical realm and they are not made of atoms.

Fuck yeah I believe in the existence of Aliens.

I "made" my first BTC the other day as well. Bought a few a long time ago, but now I mined an altcoin and sold it for 0.4BTC Cheesy:D

Man you are crazy ...

I lost about 500k Doges at Dogespin, and I learned my lesson too.

Smiley

Remember. If you never play - you never lose.

No game, no gain Grin

But yeah, gambling is not the way to "gamble". House always win.

Social democracy in a nutshell - "Don't worry, it's for your own safety. "What? No, of course you don't have a say in it"

I grew up as a typical labor party kid. Then I grew up.

659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LEAF] LEAFCOIN - SOON ON CRYPTSY - TRADE NOW? COINMARKET.IO on: February 04, 2014, 07:38:59 PM
@TheTelephone i think what most people think and trying to explain to you is that your comments are not appreciated here and you should stop responding to every word said. It's annoying and irritates people. If you have some great wisdom , open a separate thread for your believers but do not force everyone  to read your shit.

Everyone has his right on his or her opinion but sometimes silence is golden and duct-tape is silver.

Christ, it's everyone of you guys that gives him a reason to reply. If people don't want him to reply here you ignore the comments he is making. He wouldn't be posting here if he had no one to talk to. I like LEAF, mined it form the start and all that. It so far it is a success with high hashrate and high trading volume. The price went up, then down, then up and then down again. Now it's up again. For the future I predict the price of LEAF to go down or up. Then it will go up and down again. That is my prediction..

TheTelephone; I don't agree with everything you say, but as long as people respond to you I see no reason to stop.

And please keep it about LEAF and leave the insults at home people.

Are we listed to join a bigger exchange? Interest is all that matters atm

i would still caution against crypsty.... coinex would seem to be the better choice, as far as the bigger exchanges go

but to be honest... it does seem that there may be some market manipulation at coinmarket.oi

for sure there has been manipulation. LEAFs volume Tongue
