961  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most Promising Altcoins for 2014 on: January 27, 2014, 11:50:57 PM
I've dropped all my NXT... I find it near impossible to to forge.  Maybe it'll improve once they fix the source code.

What's the appeal of  Quark, Earthcoin, or Dimecoin for that matter vs. Litecoin?

Quark introductory video.
http://youtu.be/vb8si58DW9Y

Quark is faster, more stable, and better distributed. Also another benefit is that the mining process is almost over which will mean even better distribution. While Litecoin, and Bitcoin will get their mining monopolized meaning average people like you and I won't be able to attain it and will create worst coin distribution. The bad part of having a long mining period and ASIC mining that is coming to Litecoin.

Quark will rise in popularity for sure.

Hi everyone, I just started a brand new LEAF Coin pool. It's running on a powerfull dedicated server, proportionnal payouts @ 1% fee.
Here's the link : http://leaf.incoinswetrust.com

Rewards for block finders will be implemented soon, the pool just need more miners to hold a comfortable amount of LEAF Coins to spend on rewards  Wink

More to spread the hashing over Smiley
963  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.4 Released MANDATORY UPDATE on: January 27, 2014, 11:31:53 PM
Boy , start with the basics before sprouting non-sense:
Step 1:
http://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf
Step 2 :
Read more than you post on the forum.
Step 3:
Good luck.
Boy? Dunno how old you are - I just indicated that I am way older than nweb01 ;-)

I *do* know about P2P currency, transaction verification and privacy.
(I actually designed a protocol with authentication and secured with asymmetric encryption)
As the many shibes on this forum can attest, numerous are those who lost coins without being able to get them back
*even* if they can find what address they are in now and they can "see them sitting there". Still no way to avoid or reverse stealing
unless with *major* effort. So, the paper you quoted shows how it works in theory - completely safe (and I agree).
The practice shows us a different picture...

BTW, I actually did read most of the posts on this (and other) forums before I started posting,
I hope that you will be able to tell from the info in my posts. If you do not know the person you
are commenting about, you may ask me to clarify so we get a dialogue instead of you coming
across as showing off how much better you are than the person you are commenting on,
without even knowing them. Your reply is not helpful or encouraging and you still have no idea
of all the reasons *why* I doubted the safe storage of value.
To give you one more (why I said "it is relative") is that the coin value can crash, so the value is never guaranteed - not safe.

snap!

I only know one thing... THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINING!

This coin will be huge. Great news about coinmarket.io! But I think I will hold all, in some time this coin can be worth x50 easily

Same here.

Who's this guy selling 14BTC worth.  He's nuts.  If he gives the coin a little more time he will make at least double that

Someone with that much probably got a big power hungry rig. Bills bills

Look! the sell wall is gone!!!

Going up then I guess Wink

We should get the giveaways going on the website eventually. And could you bold out the link to the website in the OP @mcg? It should be more visible Smiley

i am following the thread currently about the prohibit of the giveaways... we might add additional features to the website.

i will bold it out and put it on top.

I can see there's many who's not agreeing with the decision to ban them Tongue

The one thing that sets it apart from all the other altcoins..?
I guess? But I need feedback on the idea before I do/do not implement it.

The good thing about this coin is that the whales don't like it the way it is because of the hard cap.
So now you can get a steadily growing community of little fish.. Wink

well said Smiley

973  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NOBL]*NOBLECOIN* - LIBERTY. PROSPERITY. SECURITY. ** NOW ON 2 EXCHANGES ** on: January 27, 2014, 09:49:09 PM
^^^^ Agreed. To me the point of this coin isn't to make instant money on the front end, we need to be in this game for the marathon and not the sprint. We need Noble to mature at a sustainable rate. If we truly want to have an impact on the world, which I know I do, we have to be willing to put in the work now with the understanding that it's for long term goals. I know everyone is in coins to make money (which I am as well), but in the long run it's what the coin is work day 900, and not day 9. However, the more prosperous we make the coin in the long run, the more money the donations for charity will be worth and the more people we can truly help.

I'm going to share an embarrassing story but I hope it will demonstrate what I'm trying to say here. I, stupidly, had 4 million nobles mined (as I have been here since day 1) sitting nice and comfy on my pc, along with my stash of BTC as well as a ton of FTC. I never encrypted anything out of sheer laziness because I didn't want to have to use a password to do anything. Additionally, I used a ton of remote accesses from everywhere, work, bars, etc to get on my pc to check my miners, restart scripts, etc. That being said, I was entirely wiped out of everything a few days ago, all my wallets were reset and all of my backups and .dat files overridden, so I am back to square 1. That being said, even though my bank roll is gone, I will stay with this coin to the very end. It is not about becoming rich in reality, it is about changing the world and leaving my name on it. Being able to contribute to a coin that is sincerely NOBLE with the best of intentions is what I want to do. We all need to work together and really come together to keep the momentum going and hopefully keep our personal wants and needs at bay to make this thing successful, because what we do today will have a direct impact on everything that is here tomorrow.

That being said, this community is great and I appreciate everything every does, for profit or just for the betterment of the coin.

Thanks All.

Hey ZBBB, have you thought about writing a couple of paragraphs on your experience and what made you decide to keep supporting the NobleCoin project? I think it could turn into a nice little article that we could share with the cryptocoin world. You don't hear about such noble stories anymore.  Smiley

I haven't, not sure who'd want to hear about a whiney guy who lost his coins Smiley Id be happy to right something up if anyone has a suggestion on an outlet.

Naa, I agree with eboard10 Smiley It's a good story of commitment.

But what control do we have over trading platforms ? If they want to add the coin not even the dev can prevent them so...

I'm sure Dev can come to an agreement with the exchange out of mutual respect Smiley For example they cab set a date in the not so far future when LEAF is to be listed.

Still such a low price for this coin...

It will be exiting to see where we are in just three months.

Yep, that will be an exciting time...rewards will be going down and value will skyrocket!

Along with the ongoing development and community it's looking good. Those who bought in at 270 will not regret.

Are you stuck at block 32012?

I really would not want this coin to get into exchange so quick.. this will jack up the price and ultimately lead to dump. Let the distribution happen for at-least 1 or 2 weeks. No wonder exchanges are getting interest in Leaf, but it first needs distribution(expand miners) and community.

You are right, but this is only true for major exchanges like Crypsy with very high volume. I don't believe Coinmarket.io's volume is large enough to create a major dump that will hurt LEAF in the long run. Actually it might be positive for distribution because there is mostly users from this forum trading there.
979  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★ DigiByte ★★ [DGB] - A Professional Cryptocurrency ✈ Android Wallet ✔ on: January 27, 2014, 09:10:03 PM
Why is Digibyte been snubbed by Coinwarz and Cryptsy?

It hasn't been.  It's still very early.  This coin has come a long way in such a short time it feels like a lot longer than it's been.

rocket start to say the least.
980  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LEAF] LEAFCOIN - HURRY BLOCK REWARD HALFS IN 6 DAYS @ 1.6Ghash on: January 27, 2014, 09:05:41 PM
It may be your lucky day, as we are considering adding this coin to CoinMarket.io

This is awesome news!

LEAF truly deserves to be listed with it's good community and green approach Smiley
