1881  Economy / Speculation / Re: New bubble 3..2..1... on: August 19, 2015, 02:31:35 PM
Only if devs have consensus and we get rid of XT, raising blocksize to 2MB and move on. Otherwise it won't happen.

There must be a good reason why Satoshi picked Gravin to do that job  Roll Eyes

Hmm, you dont want XT but you agree with a 2MB size  Roll Eyes

what's wrong with it? most people doesn't approve of XT because mike hearn included all kinds of shady and buggy patches in it.
I heard this from someone and I'm going to quote it. "supporting the block size increase doesn't mean that you have to approve of XT"
1882  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk.xyz is that a phishing domain? on: August 19, 2015, 02:18:56 PM
there's already a few threads about this site in meta, here is one of them.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1059011.0

most likely a phishing site. but not 100%

It's not mine. Leeching traffic for ads, phishing, malware, or maybe just bypassing China/Russia's ban of the forum. I strongly recommend not logging in there in any case.

^ that's the real theymos, by the way.
1883  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 19, 2015, 02:04:02 PM
Remember the best time to buy is when there is nothing but pessimism and "blood on the streets".

not when the pessimis and "blood on the streets" is going to stay for another 5+ months.  Tongue

hopefully it won't tho.
1884  Economy / Speculation / Re: why bitcoin is dumped so hard? on: August 19, 2015, 01:56:22 PM
I thought something like this would happen, just not so soon.
most investor don't care to learn the truth about the block size debate, they only care about their pockets, give them one reason that bitcoin might be dead in the next few months and they'll move to something more safe.
1885  Other / Meta / Re: Forum governance? on: August 18, 2015, 10:11:01 PM
Thanks, shorena that pretty much answers all my questions.

Does someone happen to know what that "treasury agreement" is theymos mentioned in the post quoted above?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155000.0
read the contracts. that should explain it (and more). the list haven't been updated for sometime tho.

1887  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: laundering bitcoins? on: August 18, 2015, 08:27:11 PM
I've been using BTC for many years now, but never really looked into the possibility to track bitcoins.

My question is:

Lets say I have 1 btc that I want to use on darkweb, won't it be laundered if I deposit it to a dice site or gambling site, tip myself on another account then withdraw it? I mean, if i deposit 1 to the site and then withdraw it, isn't the bitcoin I receive probably another coin?

yes. I have seen quite a few people done that in primedice. deposit and tipping to other account without even betting (we can see their stats to see if they gambled or not).

-snip-

you don't need to move this thread anymore because a mod already moved it to the right section.

I don't think screenshot will prove anything because they can easily be faked.
you can learn how to sign an address by reading this thread.

1894  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Huge Explosion In Tianjin, China on: August 18, 2015, 04:16:29 PM
found something disturbing while browsing.

source: Shanghaiist.com

The first rainfall to wash over Tianjin since a series of blasts struck a warehouse in the Binhai district last week has sparked a new wave of concern as an unidentified white foam has appeared on the streets. Some who made contact with it are reporting a burning sensation on their face and lips, while others are reporting a stinging sensation on their arms. Some have said they experienced an itchy sensation, according to a NetEase News report.
