1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qortal Genesis - Future Internet Starts here - BTC active on cross-chain portal! on: September 14, 2020, 05:53:04 AM
Hey guys. Love the ideas I've read in here so far. I just started with Qortal as it was recommended to me by a Devcoin (DVC) developer (Traxo on bitcointalk).

The timeserver sync and check on Windows is amazing! And very intriguing. Wink

Only problem I'm having is I've installed both the Windows EXE files from the latest github release, Qortal (the app 1.3.5) and the current UI. Running the UI and the app is no problem. It does use a lot of memory but I got memory to spare!

I just am stuck synchronizing the app at 68% but it says on the UI that I am stuck at just short of 60,000 blocks.

I have peers connected, are there ports I need to let through my firewall? Also my windows notifications said I received a message from a Qortal user when I ran the client first last night and I can't find it anywhere in the UI. Sad

The UI still has a few little bugs... such as the bug you're mentioning now...

I would suggest...

  • kill the UI
  • Wait for the core to be 100% synchronized.
  • restart the UI

See if the caching issue is resolved.

(This is literally just an issue with the UI caching the incorrect block height, and not displaying correctly, as long as when you mouseover the blue Q icon on the taskbar, and it says 'synchronizing xx% - height - xx,xxx' you're good, just let it finish to 100%.)

When it gets fully sync'd the icon on the taskbar, upon mouseover, will say 'not minting - height - xx,xxx', at which point you're sync'd. THEN start the UI, and you should be good.

Once you're sync'd and account created, go into 'communications - Q-chat' and send a message in 'Qortal General Chat' and I will send you some QORT so that you can register your name on the chain, and potentially join whichever groups you may be interested in joining on the chain.

You can also send me a PM on-chain by going to 'new chat' and sending to 'crowetic', and message me. Smiley

Giving it another go tonight - I hope I can sync. Smiley

Been trying to get a market that gives the IXC token a price on Stellar. The DVC token has a price apparently in USD. IXC should if more trades IXC/DVC DVC/IXC I0C/IXC IXC/I0C happen. I left some HZ/IXC IXC/HZ pairs up. HZ has found some sort of USD price. Any takers? Super cheap. OR - maybe I'll just buy my own IXC with HZ from another wallet? No rules against that.

You can see an orderbook for IXC - DVC pairs here on Stellar. These are mark's tokens.

Truth.  We’re all about the Truth here, but I’ve seen many promising people and their promises come and go overnight so I’m just being real.

So what’s up with destroying corn while people starve - while wasting trillions of fresh gallons of water while people die of thirst when the US is fully energy independent?

Nothing classy about that, just liberal virtue signaling without any thoughtfulness about what’s truth and what matters.

Stay real, brohim.

Corn is better to feed than to rot my engine I agree. The ethanol mandate is beyond my comprehension.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Devcoin Foundation to support the Software Freedom Conservancy on: September 14, 2020, 02:27:17 AM
Dear Devcoin Community,

Let's start with a friendly reminder of our purpose as a project:

Quote
Devcoin is an ethically inspired cryptocurrency created in 2011 to support open source programmers and writers worldwide. Devcoin will eventually fund all types of developers including hardware developers, musicians, painters, graphic artists and filmmakers

Let's honor it!

I'm glad to announce that the Devcoin Foundation is going donate a percentage of its liquidity to charity via the Software Freedom Conservancy (SFC), a non-profit "that helps promote, improve, develop, and defend Free, Libre, and Open Source Software (FLOSS) projects. Conservancy provides a non-profit home and infrastructure for FLOSS projects. This allows FLOSS developers to focus on what they do best — writing and improving FLOSS for the general public — while Conservancy takes care of the projects' needs that do not relate directly to software development and documentation".

The effective donation amount will be transferred in US dollars and records will be added on every Devcoin round via https://github.com/devcoin/charity

Funding the SFC means to foster projects like: Busybox, Git, Homebrew, Inkscape, Metalink, Qemu, Samba and Wine among others. The next time that you talk about Devcoin with your peers, don't sell it short! Rather let them know how we are contributing to the fighting for software freedom! Full list of SFC projects https://sfconservancy.org/projects/current/

Go go Devcoin!

You can contact markm and he will take your DVC tokens at his stellar address and send you blockchain devcoins into your DVC wallet. 1:1 ration of Stellar DVC tokens/DVC. I coordinated with him on the keybase.io chat by direct messaging him at "knotwork" because keybase has a built in wallet for Stellar and its tokens.

Dan, is it too difficult to implement that automatically in the system? Not a criticism, just genuinely asking.

Also Stellar is an open network, good place for DVC to move in and out of as it builds up value per each unit. Not about dollars anymore.

That's very good!! I like that!

Last few times I looked for free open-source code for giving people tokens in return for coins there were two problems:

One, they claimed the code was not for production-use, that is, not actually hardened for real use;

Two, the code minted tokens on the fly to represent the supposedly-received coins, instead of only letting folks "buy" existing tokens already previously minted; that violates my only issue tokens for half my coins policy and also implies issuing tokens representing coins that are probably still in a "hot" wallet no yet actually frozen or buried safely away somewhere.

Once upon a time PayPal and VirWox of Switzerland (hello SIX and I0C port 7333!) devs used to let me buy more SLL than I could afford for BTC. It was probably an intentional secret to see who would later realize the game by such a method. It let me know that as tight as a spread might be there's still a hole in the system where things "slip through" and in that pinkish/gray area I think there's certainly room for a time-hardened coin like DVC which will be able to insure anyone who floods in later looking for such a coin/system to transfer, transact, etc in DeFi. When they do choose to put their money, whatever money or value they have for that matter, into OUR coin, using OUR secure chain - DVC will be at the heart of the DeFi economy. At the end of the day the rules will close that spread/gap and the gamemaster will have enough peers "officers" so they never lose too much on fees, but also collect back enough interest to keep the clan of officers intact. The 100+% reserve works.

Yeah, DVC can hit $.10-$.20 but I’ve been buying the real deal.  That said I still own a bit of DVC.

Of course it is still alive, it is also still in use in the Galactic Milieu.

This also it can be traded on the HORIZON and Stellar platforms, see http://makemoney.knotwork.com/

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HORIZON (HZ) New ANN thread on: September 05, 2020, 09:14:44 PM
I have created a STELLAR market for HZ/I0C I0C/HZ swaps:

https://interstellar.exchange/app/#/trade/./I0C/GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5/HZ/GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5

Price is 1.000000 HZ per ~0.06 I0C. Anyone selling I0C tokens for HZ tokens on STELLAR?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [I0C] I0coin - The Best Choice In Digital Currency on: September 05, 2020, 07:09:34 PM

I dropped the price of i0C, got you noobs, (On freiexchange) to 11 satoshi s few days ago to show my kindness and Generosity.

You’re welcome.

Question. I hope you dropped us ahead. Or at least the price of a drop rises once the bucket overflow is realized Smiley

You're thanked.

I'm gonna try to create an I0C token market for DVC as well as IXC if I'm being honest Wink

Just trying to find someone who wants I0C or DVC or IXC that is able to send tokens on KEYBASE =)

You ungrateful sob - I sent you 5.2 XLM to ACTIVATE you and you snubbed me - guess that's what telegram is for. If I wanna talk to you there its like - no problem, lets send more spam than Yobit can list

EDIT: Whoops outta merit. Tried to merit you but context would be misunderstood without merit sent. These "ungrateful sob" words are meant in jest. To the jester of our game himself

I will try and provide some I0C token liquidity on STELLAR by send markm from bitcointalk some blockchain I0Coin coins so he can issue me the I0C token and then I can put them up for trade. It's been done before if you check the trade history, just in 2019. So it's been awhile:

https://interstellar.exchange/app/#/trade/./I0C/GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5/DVC/GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5

Following that link will allow you to see the trade history. Good luck. Probably a worthwhile way to buy DVC as well, with I0C tokens and then send out DVC tokens to your blockchain DeVCoin (DVC) wallet through markm OTC. You may find him on keybase.io @knotwork which has written arbitrarily in both the Bitcoin and Stellar blockchains - now even with an integrated Stellar wallet. The iOS app is best imo. I have only tried iPhone and Desktop but desktop keeps crashing since I started running other JVM apps like Horizon NRS and a Horizon Server with localhost access to the Horizon Platform (DAE, wallet, etc). I0C is issued together with HZ as HZI0C to represent I0C (on blockchain) - and is issued as an asset. Here is a link to a little info by the issuer:

http://makemoney.knotwork.com/horizon/assets/hzi0c/

To get such an asset, buy HZ tokens on stellar from markm (see here):

http://makemoney.knotwork.com/stellar/hz/

https://interstellar.exchange/app/#/trade/./I0C/GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5/HZ/GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5

At the moment there's no I0C/HZ market. Be the first to create it at the above link. Then PM me, I'll buy some HZ or I0C with either token off you at a reasonably price of course =) (or maybe the token bridge is un-needed. Who knows?)

On STELLAR HZ tokens trade against XLM and DVC. So again DVC can get you to I0C tokens and blockchain I0C or HZI0C assets on the Horizon blockchain (HZ) in many ways. Stay tuned. It's a great coin/blockchain to re-base upon and much faster blocktimes than BTC's Bitcoin blockchain.

Hi,

win 8.1 QT Version  5.2.0

win 7 won't open wallet ,
Devcoin-Qt (OSS GUI client for Devcoin)
Devcoin-1.0.16-w32\Devcoin-qt.exe"

Can't work out how to insert screen print

hopefully this helps

Why don't you save your wallet.dat and upgrade to newer version of Windows? Windows 10 working fine. It was a free upgrade for me back in 2015? I think it was 2015
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HORIZON (HZ) New ANN thread on: September 03, 2020, 01:27:20 AM
I joined also - to forge Horizon...

It was a failure to forge Horizon with 12 500 000 HZ? Smiley ((I transferred a little more also to my server, but it shouldn't yet count in the forging amount, I think))
As always - last times - I think, Horizon chain was forked to quickly. I stopped my server.
Me seems lfm.knotwork.com and ufbsh.no-ip.org should be restarted also.
Any hints?

You can have my IP. I trust all of you. I don't care. I think you all run nodes just like me in this meta game. Maybe we need a meta like file (like .TOML) or something to show where Horizon comes from... Or where its locally stored on each of our own accounts =P I dunno.

I suppose Poloniex escrow@poloniex Polonidex still takes from this network as a web based exchange and I suppose locked threads or delisted KYC exchanges might make certain versions of HZ software we use not readable forwards and backwards but if we all just admit we're in this together and CORs (Cross Origin Resource sharing) between a HZ/BTC pair exists... I mean just click the link still active over the web browser and TCP/IP and see where it forwards you:

https://www.poloniex.com/exchange/#btc_hz

I've said this so many times. It's a waiting game. I am sure there are easter eggs, or bootstraps, or tip bots we could use somewhere. Or perhaps we already have - and that's why my local app data for Keybase's desktop app is always part of the nhz.log file in my roaming folder on Windows everytime I start up my Horizon Server. Sharing is caring Smiley

So either lets all ADMIT what this actually is. Or lets all help Dan figure out how to be more productive in helping other normies from "the planet known as earth" find opportunities they just cannot accept to exist.

IFINTA: Give me some info about what OS you use, what software you're running and I will try and answer even though you are a fellow character in this game and I am probably just amusing you by posting my offer to help lol
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [HZ] Horizon - Decentralized Asset Exchange on: August 31, 2020, 07:43:30 PM
Downloaded the hzexchange zip and extracted it to see if I could make it work.

Here is your problem from ...\Desktop\hzxchange.net-1.01\README.md:

Code:
# hzxchange.net

Standalone version of the HZXchange client

Download, and open index.html in your browser.

Needs a solution for HZ/BTC price (same origin policy, didn't find an api with CORS header yet)

It's quite easy to understand that until Poloniex stops forwarding our former "delisted" HZ website link to its old HZ/BTC pair (later forwarded the link below to ETH/BTC pair, now its a BTC/USDT pair - you all know what I mean):

EDIT: forgot to link y'all https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_hz

EDIT2: now that I have clicked the link from bitcointalk.org I am being forwarded to (https://poloniex.com/exchange/USDT_STR) STR/USDT

---back to original post---

Go ahead and click it. If you're wondering where CORs is used it is in setting up the platform and changing the nhzdefault.properties file and set the "false" to "true" - my server/node uses Java (Horizon NRS from C:\...) and I can open up an app I created for Internet Explorer to run my wallet and access the platform itself locally just fine Smiley

Probably why mark never finished migrating to Poloniex and why they have offered similar exchanges since they took part of Horizon stealth-ly away from idiots like me who just used to use web exchanges and not know a thing about the internet, mobile data, the web, the world wide web etc.

But this platform still has many peers - sometimes I get as many as 17! I will run the Horizon Server I setup as a way to support and secure the network as long as it lets me Smiley

Why let ETH be the only one locking away coins for DeFi when HZ is the origin of Original Proof-of-Stake as well as running just fine according to rules of Nakamoto Consensus. The more HZ one holds on Horizon, the more virtual hashing power it should have for PoS. =P

Hashrate 9201.765 PH/s  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Amazing.  Didn’t some “expert” clowns say the price of a coin correlates to its hash/difficulty?

So why is I0C at 1 cent instead of $1,000+?

Been saying it for years - Network security will prove to be the most important feature.

Soon.

https://medium.com/thundercore/consensus-series-proof-of-stake-283955c538c6

Quote
“Original” Proof-of-Stake
The original usage of “Proof-of-Stake” refers to a class of Nakamoto consensus algorithms where a node’s holdings or stake in the underlying currency is converted to virtual computation power. The name is derived from its similarity to Proof-of-Work somewhat literally replacing the “Work” with “Stake” in the algorithm. For example, the PoW mining problem might be changed from:

hash(parent, nonce) <= difficulty

to something like:

hash(parent, address A) <= balance(address A) * time * difficulty
with the remainder of the protocol unchanged.

Since original PoS still uses the longest fork choice rule, the immediate issue is that it is easy for nodes to “mine” blocks on many forks at once. This is byzantine behavior as honest nodes only mine on a single longest block. However, since there is no cost for acting byzantine, we can not assume nodes will not do so. It is strict economic gain as more mined blocks on different forks means a higher chance of being included in the canonical chain and earning block rewards. This is referred to as the the nothing at stake problem and can be addressed with slashing which we’ll discuss soon. There are still other difficult to address vulnerabilities.

Is there any active place to trade this coin?

Yeah, Stellar (tokens).
Check DeVCoin thread for details. There is a crystal clear explanation there.

Merited. (Since I sent all mine)

Tongue

(you can use this tutorial https://www.devcoin.org/get-devcoin.html (click *Buy Devcoins* then follow the external links "buy" and "sell" to figure the process) to buy and sell I0C tokens on stellar using same methods and by interacting with MarkM if you want the blockchain coins in your I0C wallet. Just follow word for word and replace devcoins/DVC with I0coins/I0C)

And... sometimes you gotta take a break from all the information. I mean just reading this blows the mind but makes way too much sense of what I've read in the past all over these project's realms and spaces https://buildingbitcoin.org/bitcoin-dev/log-2011-07-04.html.

Don't delete that, Mark's in there Smiley he's an admin of this project last time I checked.
