Nobody else is concerned that this person was able to ssh to the server without firewall rules blocking him?
Sounds like the only reason anyone even knew what was going on was due to the entire server being down and a bunch of wallets being offline.
Who said anyone was able to SSH into the server without firewall rules blocking him? Stop spreading garbage. What happened was an attacker used social engineering to gain root access to a wallet server. This was made possible by absolutely jaw-dropping negligence on the part of the hosting provider.

All funds are safe. Poloniex does use cold wallets.
What happened was an attacker used social engineering to gain root access to a wallet server. This was made possible by absolutely jaw-dropping negligence on the part of the hosting provider. Fortunately, I caught the attempt in time and was able to shut down the server before anything was taken. All BTC has been moved into cold storage, and then next step is to set up a new server with a different provider.
Please stop sending BTC to your old BTC deposit addresses. The funds will not be lost, but all new addresses must be generated, as I must assume the old wallet is compromised. It is very unlikely that it was, but "unlikely" is not good enough.
I appreciate everyone's patience while I take proper security measures before bringing the exchange back online.
Way to go buddy, Thank you. Lodge a major complaint with that provider

Is someone mining with a i7 4770k? how many blocks per day? thank you.
None Feel like stopping soon How many hashes per second are you getting? hr_show moves between ~8.5-9. is OC-ed to 4.2Ghz. You should average around 2 blocks per day. Keep mining I'm honestly not sure how it's happened but I have 37+change in my wallet now, lots of small transactions

I try to avoid drama these days but just wanted to say I thought the launch was extremely fair. I was mining it about 3 minutes after links were posted. There was a pretty launch post of like 6 hours I think and hr did indeed have pool links up for it too
That Chinese pool dominated most of the blocks but they had like 400 workers on their pool alone
He also offered to assist DIEM when their dev disappeared even though he has nothing to do with their coin
Gotta take LC's side on this one and this is coming from someone who usually hates everything. Just my opinion as someone who was watching the launch like a hawk. Take it for what its worth
Thanks, it's appreciated.

Look what just arrived! Huge thanks to Provok for his first EQB auction.
Here are some EquestrianBit related news: - professionally made video is in progress (really professional, not by me) - Android wallet - new exchanges
I still want my coins from sec0 mining on the offical pool and not the amount at my hash rate days after.. How much of a pile are you sitting on? What? You should have all coins you deserve. By the way, difficulty now is lower than at launch, so if you want to mine, now is great time to start. If you have some questions, PM me Your official pool still didn't pay out after the 2nd or 3rd relaunch (I cant remember off the top of my head) - You paid out to miners that requested it as an apology, but at the difficulty it was at days later for their current hashrate. i.e. - You underpaid, a lot, for miners that started from second0. You and I emailed about it. Not mining this anymore, moved on about a hundred times since and just curious how many coins you hold as a result.

I understand the relaunch but what about those who run on Linux? Still will not be fair if there is no git or if it does not compile. That's leaving out quite a few people and don't forget it takes a little time to compile it too.
Setup a Windows VM

just read this update. can you explain why you chose to revise it up from 12h to 5 days as it seems to be quite a large change in terms of a multiple from the original figure? i kinda liked the short staking period in the original coin.
12h sounded nice as it allowed you to move your coins around - It appears it just wouldn't work that low. Also a higher time to stake is kind of in the spirit of PoS anyway. The main reason was so we could update without a mandatory update, we will take another look at lower stake times before pushing the update, but for now presume 12 hours and if we can safely do lower it will be a bonus. I think you mean presume 5 days yeh? (You should have slept more!)

The reason for this change is because we partially forked from code that wasn't quite correct even thought we fully tested it both on testnet and live net, and they made a huge mistake in their code, we have now fixed and updated all that code and added extra.

I am now determined to create and launch CAKE coin...
We will have cake. We must have cake.
Reckon this was a bet between friends, wasn't it?

moonmoon have you already contacted mintpal and cryptsy about adding PRT ?
Just let them pick it up if they want to. There is an exchange already in the works and a lot more! Both those exchanges are coin killers anyway
