let's just drop it, this a calibration  Grin

Given the current distribution of normal and multisig transactions, and given the fact not every one will use SegWit transactions even after 1 year of deployment. There will always be people who preffer high value transactions to be sent as normal ones and not as "anyone can spend" ones
You've provided no data, no calculations. You're basing everything on speculation and thus your argument has no merit.

Realistic 2 - 2.5 MB increase to 3 - 3.5 MB from 1 MB base just with SegWit ? Only in dream land...
I never said anything about "3 - 3.5 MB".

Classic should be OK with the agreement

It should stick around as a competing impl.
No. Diseases should be completely exterminated.

No

this agreement is made possible by the credible threat classic represented

we NEED a competing impl

Can we finally kick Classic into a 6 foot deep hole & bury her?

what a wast

Classic should be OK with the agreement

It should stick around as a competing impl.

It baffles me that some people are still bearish.

Huh Have you seen these guys? Core smallblockers are deranged. You can't reason with them.

They refuse to throw us "gavinistas" even a bone.  That's there words, not mine.  They see ANY concession as a failure.  And some people thought we'd get consensus before dinner. Welcome to Gavin's World, where negotiating with brain-eating zombies is just another day at the office.

If someone is too stupid to see the leverage you have over them, your leverage is useless in a negotiation. You have to demonstrate it.  I'm frankly surprised that Core even showed up.

Back to wall observing: is it buy the rumor sell the news or the reverse? I forget.

or in other words, should we be expecting a smallblocker dump or a bigblocker dump?

i've been giving that some thought

the "news" in this case could be the follow through with the plan

so UP till july 2017

everyone ok with that?

I would be ecstatic with that, but I don't think it will play out that way. We're dealing with a management team that rejects as a matter of principle ANY accountability to stakeholders. It's fucking Divine Right of Kings. Do you think parliament could have forced King John to sign the Magna Carta without an army at their backs?  Our miners are looking pretty uncomfortable and out of place in their battle armor.

you've lost your mind.

When will the FOMO kick in?

500-600

Well, let's talk about mutiny.

I don't see any mutiny. I do see Harakiri ritual. After the XT fiasco Gavin decided to 'classically' double down. Obviously his master left him no choice but commit ritual suicide.

It's called "seppuku", Pal. If you're gonna insult someone, do it right.

Classic will triumph and if it doesn't, we will try something else. We won't quit. Bitcoin has been hijacked by people with a fundamental misunderstanding of economics.

Scarcity doesn't create value. Utility creates value.

oh billy.  Cheesy

This hard-fork is expected to include features which are currently being discussed within technical communities, including an increase in the maximum effective block size, to more than 2 MB and less than 4 MB, and will only be adopted with a broad support across the entire Bitcoin community. -We will run a SegWit release in production by the time such a hard-fork is released in a version of Bitcoin Core.

does this line imply 2MB + segwit  or just segwit

its not clear

beside all the added benefits  segwit + 2MB blocks will add
Have they ever said anywhere that HF will increase size to 2MB? Some at core demand blocksize cap reduction too. So, the HF may be at 0.5MB as well. Smiley

ya mmm i assumed they were talking about 2MB HF
2034  Economy / Speculation / Re: CONSENSUS! ....... lol on: February 20, 2016, 04:52:33 PM
i don't get it what's the HF for?

Could anyone explains to the non technical users what will it change then?  Undecided

beside all the added benefits  segwit + 2MB blocks will add

A much more encouraging thing has been revealed, no group not even Core calls the shots, bitcoin's consensus mechanism forces us to work together to find the best possible solutions. I think everyone has been concerned with the idea that bitcoin development had become centralized to one group(Core).

Ok that is a good thing to see the consensus scheme working indeed.
I see the point of the 2MB but it'll grant only a little amount of time before blocks will be full again. What after?

And I don't know much about segwit I'm afraid :p
Any link to know a bit more about it?

after this change transactions on the network will need to go up 4x.

giving us plenty of breathing room to prefect LN and other things.

i don't think we will be able to push the limit much more than 2MB MAYBE it will eventually get bumped to 8MB but thats seems to be more or less the limit imposed by the current network overlay.  after that we will look to adv. in software and hardware in order to scale the main chain, progress at that point will probably be slow tho, but by then we'll have LN and the like.

segwit is quite complex, i don't understand it myself, all i know is it somehow splits up the data which somehow means blocks can stuff in about twice as many TX, and that's actually just a byproduct of what segwit is actually designed for, which again is another complex story we don't really need to know.

thats if this isn't all for show and Core  refuses to 2MB and or says they will do it and a week later have petter todd come up with some BS story as to why its not happening as they planed.

if that happens tho miner will all opt out of BitcoinCore and into classic, and i will follow suit, as i spit on Cores grave.
