Scrypt-Jane coins is what I meant. Or just stick with DIME  Grin 100% ASIC proof!

While I agree you can make money that way, I'm against supporting the continued inefficiency of using GPUs to mine. It's just a huge waste of electricity compared to ASICs.

Assuming that the price of bitcoin continues to outpace the difficulty you can make a profit mining with ASIC hardware. There are some good deals on the last generation of miners if you don't mind used, or you can use hosted mining which is what I'm doing.

I wouldn't GPU mine at this point. scrypt ASICs are arriving on the scene and changing the game considerably.

CPU mining bitcoin stopped being profitable 2 and a half years ago. Today you'd spend $1000 in electricity to earn $1 worth of bitcoin, so no...
lol.

Hi,
I just recently came into the game just this past Sunday, unfortunately I didn't think much of bitcoins and mining back in 2009 when I first saw it coming out.  Iv been doing a lot of reading on all the different areas, and this is a lot of stuff to learn.

It comes down to this:
I can invest and trade like I do in the stock market - but I would rather *not* since I am not familiar with this exchange.
Or, I could CPU mine with a couple computers from work.

(x2) Intel i3-2130 and (x2) Core2duo 3Ghz, 4-8GB RAM
I also could get a computer or 2 running @ home since it is also a flat rate electric bill.

The i3's would run 24/7 and the Core2duos only at night.  No machine expenses or electric costs since its a flat rate monthly electric bill.

Is CPU mining profitable?  How much could I make in a month running these machines?
If there is something a bit more profitable I have to invest in I could do $2000.  The problem I have seen with bitcoins is the machine costs will never pay off if i get a 2Th machine.

There aren't a lot of CPU only coins left. Dimecoin is one of the most prominent. My advice to you is to get some AMD GPUs and mine some sort of scrypt coin. Or if you really want to, you can mine DIME Smiley PM me

It started ridiculous with these kind of coins but now it got to a level where it's absolutely intolerable

The sad part is that no matter how ridiculous the coin proposed is, there is always a market for it

no wonder a new alt comes out every day now.. can't blame the creators, it's e-a-s-y money up in here

I dont know what your problem is, but this coin was launched in December. A little late on your hate speech noob.
