341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin core .zip to .exe transfer on: June 09, 2014, 03:40:38 AM
The new bitcoin wallet opens and installs as an .exe instead of a zip like the old bitcoin wallet. How was the switch from zip to exe done? Was it just some external file changing/binding the zip files together? If so how was this done? Or were there some actual changes to the code neccesary to change the download wallet from zip to exe? If so what code changes were made?

I am an entrepreneur that started my "career" in virtual currencies when I was very young, selling virtual gold in mmos. This led me to see the great potential that Bitcoin and other crypto coins had. I am currently working on some big projects that I think would be greatly benefited by the addition of other members of the crypto community to the team. If you have an entrepreneurial spirit and want to be a part of the next big thing reply here or shoot me a pm.

344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / RedditIsland is getting a reality TV show - which altcoin should be used? on: June 07, 2014, 08:15:48 AM
RedditIsland is getting a reality tv show. The idea is basically to send a bunch of redditors to an island and televise it marketting it as the only true 100% reality tv show. It is innovative in many regards and another innovative thing is RedditIsland will be using cryptocurrency as its main currency. So which coin do you think should be used on the Island? This will no doubt promote the coin that is used and will with little doubt provide the most exposure for a coin yet. Visit the subreddit to get a feel of it: http://www.reddit.com/r/redditisland/
345  Economy / Services / Change my altcoin from .zip file to .exe file - fair pay on: June 05, 2014, 05:04:52 AM
On the old version of Bitcoin when you downloaded the wallet it was a zip file and you had to extract it and then run it after clicking the extracted bitcoin qt. But the new Bitcoin you are able just download the client and run it without extracting anything.  I have a altcoin that was made but it's currently a zip file once you download it. Your job is to make it able to be run instantly after being downloaded like the new bitcoin wallet core client. This is an easy job and I want someone efficient and good to do this for me. Make the wallet able to run right after being installed instead of having to extract a zip. Reply with how long this will take you and your asking price.

Is there a list of clients currently available for apple?
347  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Silk Road 2.0 has paid back 82% while Mt. Gox has paid none ! on: June 01, 2014, 01:29:40 AM
I wouldn't trust anything stated. It is rumored that silk road 2.0 hijacked the coins themselves and are "paying it back" to gain trust and validation. Don't be gullible you should take everything you hear with a grain of salt, heck even this.
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Do you mine/invest in altcoins? on: May 31, 2014, 06:15:55 PM
Wtf... whichever mod moved this did not understand the point of this poll. Please move it back to bitcoin discussion the point of this pole is to see which bitcoiners are interested in altcoins.

I see a very anti altcoin attitude here some times and I was wondering. How many people in the official Bitcoin Discussion section invest in altcoins?
349  Other / MultiBit / Re: Import uncomfirmed wallet.dat from official bitcoin client to multibit? on: May 31, 2014, 06:11:26 PM
if you have your private key why not use blockchain.info wallet and do a sweep

Because I don't want to wait 10 hours for the blockchain to be built.

He meant blockchain.info online wallet.
Import your private key there and do a sweep.

I refrain from ever using online wallets, but I might do a small sum with this seeing as it's the official one.

Alright so basically my computer was shut off while bitcoin wallet was on so when I restarted my computer my wallet had to reindex the whole blockchain. The problem is I need to make a payment for something right now. And since multibit syncs with the bitcoin network I was wondering. Could I import the wallet.dat/private key from my reindexing bitcoin wallet to multibit wallet and then send those coins instantly?

353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Foundation-fraudsters, pedophiles, murderers ,fat fucks and scammers on: May 27, 2014, 10:54:56 PM
yeah, I pretty much agree with the OP. Bitcoin Foundation = shit

Who appointed them any ? It's supposed to be decentralized and open.

At the time it was expressed that a governing arm needed to be in place to address the various three-letter agencies when they start a callin'. They called. They went. Then, they place an accused pedophile on its board, thinkin' that that's what's best for Bitcoin.

Two years ago, it was concerned madness to have Bruce Wagner in the fold. Today, it's considered madness if one questions Brock Pierce's board position, and the latter is much worst than the former.

That's madness!

Have you heard about the coup in Thailand? Bruce's plans are thwarted!  Grin

People are often calling Bitcoin the digital gold, if it reaches the market cap of gold that would be $600,000 a coin. You have to look at Bitcoin for what it is though a commodity that's part of an ecosystem like none other the ecosystem of crypto.

I think bitcoin could become much more valuable than gold.

I wasn't arguing that neither was I saying that was the case, all I'm saying is that analyzing bitcoin by the same rules that you analyze gold by doesn't make much sense.
356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you had any problems with large Bitcoin cashouts? on: May 26, 2014, 08:44:26 PM
I've had extreme problems convincing myself to convert real money to fake, in any amount.

This. Selling Bitcoin for fiat feels bad.

OP thanks for the topic though, should lead to some interesting discussion Smiley

I agree but I'm not exactly selling bitcoin with the main reason to get fiat, I'm selling Bitcoin for fiat with the intent to buy some things right away. If Bitcoin was more widely accepted I wouldn't have to be doing this in the first place. I could use some service such as snapcard to pay for things with Bitcoin but I don't feel comfortable trusting a 3rd party with transactions of this size.
357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you had any problems with large Bitcoin cashouts? on: May 26, 2014, 04:53:19 PM
Local bit coins would be your best bet. You might regret cashing out your stake so early though. There is a decent chance the value doubles in the coming months.

I'm not cashing out my entire stake at all and I'm not cashing in because I don't believe in the technology I'm simply selling some Bitcoin because I want to buy some things. And yes I also believe we will see a significant rise in price soon, but on the topic of increasing financial gains on investments at this point in time I believe it's smarter to invest in some altcoins because they have much higher chance of things like %10000 return on investment. 1.5 btc in september 2013 invested in NXT would leave you with 350btc now (I'm not meaning to advertise any altcoins in specific but just furthering my point.

But yes once I exchange some of my bitcoin I plan to immediately exchange the fiat for some things I plan to buy so I can't really be blocked from doing this right? Also I'm not going to be putting anything over $1,000 in a bank, all large bitcoin transactions will be done in cash and with the intent to then immediately exchange.

I will follow all tax regulations so am I correct in assuming there is legally nothing they can really do to stop me making these large cash outs? They won't be able to seize any products I buy etc.?

Not sure where you plan to keep $40,000 out of your guardian's sight, but your bank will almost surly report you to FINTRAC for transactions over $3000.

Also you may want to look over the List of Bitcoin Hostile (and friendly) Banks
If your bank is:
  • Royal Bank
  • Bank of Nova Scotia
  • TD Bank
Your account will probably be frozen if they become aware of Bitcoin activity.

Unless you have an urgent need for the money, I suggest you only sell under about $1000/month.

I won't be putting large sums of money in a bank. I will cash out of bitcoin for cash and make my purchases directly or if they accept bitcoin I would happily pay for my purchases in bitcoin. I'm just wondering if once I file my taxes I could run into any trouble.
360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Have you had any problems with large Bitcoin cashouts? on: May 26, 2014, 02:03:38 AM
I'm about to make a cash out of about $40k+ and am wondering if I will be met with any resistance. For someone under 18 and residing in Canada what obstacles would there be? I will most likely be selling on something like localbitcoins for cash to a verified person. I will be reporting this $40k+ to taxes (I'm not an idiot I'm not going to try and evade tax on big purchases). If I follow all rules filing taxes etc. Will I receive any trouble? Also will my guardians be notified of my money when I file my taxes?
