I see I'm late for this vote, but I'd too vote Craig Wright. But there are certainly more people missing from the vote options...

If the payer only has a bitcoin address, then she won't know who she is paying.
As Bitcoin is only pseudonymous, you have to ensure that no other information is linked to your address.
This, plus not using that address for another payment

No... I mostly only buy what's absolutely necessary. Wouldn't be able to switch buying that for Bitcoin. Also buy some goodies from time to time, only if they're on discount. Wouldn't switch that for more Bitcoin either (most of the goodies are even bought with Bitcoin)

I agree with the OP 100% and this has crossed my mind quite a few times. Journalists use language in their favor, especially on "shill" media where someone with a lot of influence wants to pass some kind of message through. Virtual currency is also my least favorite term as it does seem to be used in a bad context when mainstream media is giving bad news about Bitcoin, which is "funny" because if you think about it... Can't the numbers on your regular ATM be considered a virtual currency? Examples: 1, 2, 3, 4 and I probably could go on. That's interesting. I would think it does matter and your example is apt. The strange part is that most people consider paper money to be "real".
I wouldn't say it's strange... I'd say it's actually quite funny and an oxymoron What is strange is the fact that we still value a culture where we teach our children not to question things... Such as: why the hell does a printed piece of paper have any worth? Can I trust what the ATM tells me when it says I have X $ in my account?

Pessimistic thread title! Hasn't Bitcoin surprised previously? And 2016 ends at different times in different places, no timezone specified... A bit of a joke, obviously. Doesn't really matter how Bitcoin closes the year, price-wise

They weren't added because these coins weren't lost. Someone has access to these coins and moved them.

I guess it's a bit more to add to this thread... Still don't understand why people burn their coins intentionally. I don't think any burning is purposeful... But to each his own.

He's still around, with more accounts and a slightly different grammar, but moderation seems to be on top of him for the most part... Not sure what he wants to achieve beyond giving (even more) work to the moderation.

someone is saving for a seriously rainy day lol If this is the case, I guess we can't blame them, it has rained in quite a few places so far...

Probably a pool or an exchange. Sometimes searching the address on Google or WalletExplorer may yield some results.

Excellent post. I hope people who make threads like "would you make a Bitcoin account on your bank" read it. Unfortunately, I guess only people who don't make these kinds of threads will read this.

I own 1 BTC periodically. Sometimes I have more, sometimes I have less. Depends on my spending needs, sometimes they're in Bitcoin, sometimes they're in fiat. Right now they're in fiat, so my answer might change soon (or not).
There are many factors weighing in on to why someone doesn't have 1 BTC, and if one doesn't, it doesn't necessarily mean that one isn't really a big supporter of Bitcoin. I think the main factor on why not many people have 1 BTC or BTC at all is because Bitcoin is expensive.

This is something that will either change in due time or we'll die still not understanding it. This is a "to each his own" situation for both scenarios (selling coins/goods or mining). We all have to do our part.
Regarding selling, I'm not much of a seller and I don't ship abroad so I use a national website to list my items... And I don't give out my personal data to the website, only to whoever asks for my items. I'd definitely use openbazaar if I had people from my country there or if I shipped abroad.
We'll see, only the future will tell. I think these services will be adopted more and more. As for exchanges, since there will always be a premium on localbitcoins and personal meetings, they'll always have their business...

I am currently available for translation jobs. I can do English to Portuguese (PT-PT) translations and Portuguese to English too. If needed, I can also proofread texts in both languages. I might also be interested in audio transcription jobs and article writing.
Over the past few years I've been involved with Bitcoin I've already translated announcement threads in the forums, some news articles and websites related to cryptocurrencies and/or exchanges.
Please send me a PM if interested. Rates can then be discussed.

Let's keep it that way. Mainstream media doesn't know how to cover Bitcoin correctly when it goes down or there are issues, so might as well not cover it at all. You don't do things "half assed", as some say. But they will remember us if we go higher than previous ATH, because profit

It would be very interesting, worth trying to contact Google about this. However the possibility of this happening in near future is highly unlikely, as Google doesn't really have a stance regarding Bitcoin and if we have to guess one, we could say Google is kind of a competitor.

Is this down for good or will it return? It'll be back. I had an issue with my server so I decided to use the opportunity to upgrade my OS and clean up a bit but I didn't have time to restore all my services yet. I still need to bring back bittit.info and Biticker and then it's apophenia's turn... Sorry! It's fine, thanks for the update. We'll wait

If you still have your wallet file (or if you have your master pubic key or an address that's part of your wallet), and you know most of your seed as you said, you can use seedrecover to recover the missing parts of your seed: https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover/blob/master/docs/Seedrecover_Quick_Start_Guide.md (which is part of btcrecover). If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask. That's not possible because the words aren't interconnected and because that would be a security flaw
They are interconnected to the master public key (stored unencrypted in the wallet file) and to the addresses they generate, but of course it's only possible to "brute-force" the seed if most of the seed is also known. Interconnected, as interconnected with each other... Didn't knew about seedrecover, what does it do? Take the dictionary and try to fill in whats missing on your seed, using the MPK to confirm that it is generating the "correct" addresses belonging to your seed?
