@smooth, @rpietila: I don't think that we can take such statistical conclusions to the recent variations in the number of transactions, without taking into account the concern that users would have had during the brief time of the attack/fork and the couple of days that followed. I'm not saying that the higher transaction fee did not impact on number of transactions, but just that in this particular instance, it was not really the only motivation for less transactions.
In any case, I'm looking forward to per-kb fees, and appreciate the rationale that you've both presented on this matter. ~ Myagui

[...] not sure what they want us to do with 8gb and 256bit memory bus though [...]
There was a time in the very distant past, where some odd people would use cards such as these for gaming, a time where texture data would easily fill up as much graphics memory as there was available! ~ Myagui

At this point the attack has been handled with neither a persistent fork nor a roll-back. Well done.
What are the chances for a recurrent attack? New accounts have warned quite much about it. The Monero devs do their best to prevent attacks, and C_Z is helping also. The community has also shown that even a technically successful attack (fork did happen) does not cause the loss of trust (price trend did not change). In the long term, we are open to pursue a diplomatic solution to this conflict and I can be a diplomatic middleman if so desired. "We"? Are you monero's CEO? Self appointed I'm pretty sure that cloning technologies have just reached a breakthrough. There's a 7th dan rpietila, and a 6th dan rpietila as well. I'm betting the 6th dan rpietila is the clone (due to collateral DNA damage and all, has not donated as much). Everyone should head out to the Monero Community Hall of Fame for definitive verification. While you're there, might as well donate! ~ Myagui

I just hope that the AMD miners that join XCN, realize the massive potential for this little known coin, and don't just simply dump all their mined coins into the market. There's way too many dumpfarms AMD farms out there... On the other hand, I suppose that mass dumping will also increase the distribution spread, and time will tell if that is a wise decision or not. ~ Myagui

I can't ever get enough Moneros, so here's a couple more:
Purely Cosmetic: Add a theme feature to the pool website, so that one can pick at minimum between the standard/bright theme and a dark one, much better for viewing during night time or in a dark setting.
Informational: Add a "Resources" page containing the various points of interest for the Monero community, containing links to the Monero reddit, the various discussion threads for Monero, links to the IRC channels, available exchanges, block explorer, and so on.
Functional: Add a "Ping-Me" link/button to each of the stratum servers available, so as to assist a prospect miner with the decision of picking the pool (this feature would check latency from host <> pool, and post results).
A loyalty incentive: Pick a random winner of a certain XMR bonus at the Pool OP's discretion, from the set of miners that have been active/mining every single day of the period in question. The loyalty range and the XMR bonus could be whatever the pool op decides. An example could be: From the group of miners that have been active over the last week, and only those that were at all times connected/mining (say, maximum no-shares or disconnected time of 4 hours for example), take a random pick and give the lucky miner a 2 XMR bonus. The winner from a previous award would not be excluded at the next period, as the point is really to promote loyalty and prevent pool hopping.
That's it. I'll edit this post if I can think of anything else. ~ Myagui

So I've heard about this coin on several threads. Whats this coin all about? Anon???
It's mostly about tacos & pizza, but recently there's been word about an elephant as well. Proceed with caution! ~ Myagui

@Satoshi Nakamoto @coinits: Wildly off-topic, but note that your signature breaks the XMR address (as it does for everyone). 42hzGJ1EPfMGQEfFxXQpvmVYgz1GfbdF8UQacsusvV5aDDYqycKyTUfWKA1b3FoVbrjDdR2gK2syJLU<there-is-a-space-here>AuETFbWVqJrUJgV2 ~ Myagui

Should "cudaminer" work on X11 ?
Nope. For that you need ccminer! ~ Myagui

What would happen if i was on the wrong fork and just sent some xmr to a friend ? Did i just lose them or will i be able to retrieve them once i get on the right fork ?
You get your moneritos back once you're on the right fork. ~ Myagui

Is it safe to mine or should we wait for a fix to come out first?
It is perfectly safe to mine, as long as you pick a pool that is running on the right chain. I know that Dwarfpool is on the right chain, but about now, probably all pools are... To be on the safe size, you should check on IRC if your usual pool is on the right chain or not (or post the pool name here if you're not into the IRC thing). Cheers, ~ Myagui

[...] XMR and BBR are in the same situation here. [...]
But only one of these is relevant enough to actually get attacked. Apologies, but I could not resist the temptation of participating in the ramble of thoughts concerning the diverse 3-lettered initiatives.I would like to extend wishes of a "nighty night" to tacotime, who brought forth meaning to the expression blockchain voyeurtm. (Note, that's a good thing, I'm just glad you're around and attentive) ~ Myagui

Not talking a monthly fee, one off would be good, split between myself and all the other devs
I'd suggest a one-off to set membership, plus an honest donation round after any profit spike relating to the group's activities. Sidenote: I'm all for open source, but the economics must be favorable, or at minimum, sustain a fair incentive to those that are doing all the code work. A restricted sharing group can provide that incentive (through donations, membership, beers, pizza), with minor moderation by means of delaying public releases. Cheers, ~ Myagui

I just took the official vote #1 for "yay". Actually, if I dig around my own posts, I'm pretty sure I've already suggested we establish a cuda mafia group (mafia, as in, family style, trust above all else, betrayal = rigs on fire, etc, etc). Good timing and all, as I had just donated Now in all seriousness, a group of hand-picked members, collaborating to preserve profitability, and to reward miner coding, I'm all in! I've even got a private tip already for the "next big opportunity" that we'll have *if & when* a certain coin launches and depending on the final algorithm spec. Now that's gotta be worthy of a membership title! On other news: my motorcycle is for sale (two of them actually), I'll take BTC or XMR. I'm located in Portugal, so I don't think I stand much of a chance of striking a deal here... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=768342.0~ Myagui

Interessados avisem, e posso ponderar a venda. Não está registada para circular na via publica em Portugal! Cumprimentos, ~ Myagui Editado para actualizar preço. Editado novamente, mesma razão. E mais uma vez! E outra!

PM Replied! It's really great to see a pool op that not only cares for innovating, but even goes as far as rewarding the community for contributing in the creative process! Many thanks guys, thumbs up!
Edit: Award Received! Thanks again!

A couple of donations sent out in appreciation for the outstanding contributions to the community. To each, I'm sending the amount of BTC that I typically earn on an average day with my rig (two days, if shitty ones ). @djm34, for the many ccminer releases. tx id: 1b1fe33b35726dd211a6615a4a7ba0be5494e7a5bf9a77a6bbce4a2bec26b547 @tsiv, my pledge over at the nvidia bounty thread for cryptonight (minus the pizza!) tx id: 73af9e4181a1909f6bf6ecb843e18a81eaced1624a1bb26a5627bcc5c0a2f0dd @Wolf0, for the cryptonight cpu-miner and the colorful screenshots. tx id: edfab4a846e369bd6f48544ca267c4b8e0b358c103d327dce9e46c60d377c9aa There are many others in this community that are well deserving of our appreciation. These are just the ones that I singled out for most relevant impact to what I've been mining for the past few weeks. Thank you guys/gals, you rock! ~ Myagui Edit: I'm keeping my contributions small for two reasons, a) that I'm sentimental when it comes to parting ways with some BTC, no matter how little the amount, and b) we can't overfeed the chicken that lays the golden eggs, otherwise the bitch might get fat & lazy and stop laying eggs entirely (small and frequent is the way to go).

The ability to customize each user's mining payout threshold within a range defined by the pool OP.
This could be set for instance, by mining with a password matching the desired threshold value, and possibly only allowing threshold values greater than the default, not smaller ones. Smaller ones are not meaningful, since the default is already as low as it should be, and you're already doing frequent payout intervals.
Advantage for miners: Any users setting a threshold value higher than default, would gain by having a lesser number of TX inputs. While not dust, small payments eventually sum up to make larger transaction sizes by the time one spends those coins, and the time will come when the weight of transactions will correlate directly to transaction fees.
Advantage for pool: With some users setting higher payout thresholds, there are fewer payments to execute, and there's an opportunity to save on transaction fees. Savings might not be immediate as the current fee is fixed, but will certainly be an advantage as soon as fees are established as factor of transaction sizes.
Cheers, ~ Myagui

Had been away, so didn't have much of a chance to put in some comments or additional name options in the ann thread ahead of this post. In any case, I'm picking option 4. With the motto of 'endless possibilities ahead', and how the mini blockchain breaks free of the restrictions of the typical (bloated) blockchain implementations, my suggestion is nebarita, which is esperanto for unbounded.
Cheers, ~ Myagui
