Nothing new or interesting, build some innovations to attract traders...

Hi there, thank you for your interest. We're very much working on it! We've devised a way to make the charity coins at the heart of the project release at a constant rate to alleviate concerns about a large reservoir of coins under the control of a small number of individuals. The release which will make this functionality possible is currently under test

Coin looks dead. No buy orders on yobit...

Coin isn't dead til the network stops processing transactions.

Those just under 10m for sale at 1s are a steal.

Everything I have said has been truth, everything is continuing. Some support would be good.

In other news global emissions levels just rose about 400ppm. If we don't get this show on the road as well as many other initiatives just like it then the whole party is over.

Get in touch if you would like to help test out the new client version in line with bitcoin release 0.12.1 but as ever with the key difference that it's running on Watts not Gigawatts.

There are a total of 16 Billion Carboncoin

You can get hold of them at https://yobit.net/en/trade/CARBON/BTC where the price works out at around £10 per million coins currently. There are 40M available at the price, and 40M gets you into the top 100 coin holders by coin holding!

New wallet will be available to download from the www.carboncoin.cc as soon as we are satisfied with the testing phase

The new service for distributing coins is very nearly complete too, and this will be usable on all mobile devices.

Momentum really gathering now we're rounding off the summer break

Excellent stuff - please be sure to use the correct github repository for carboncoin which is www.github.com/carboncointrust/carboncoincore - this version is fully secure at low hashrates
Thank you. We use this repository.

Awesome

We're just putting the finishing touches to a service that makes it super easy to own carboncoin! Literally as simple as a few clicks

why supply too much? any bounties?

There are lots of bounties available for anything from marketing to development. The development jobs we need doing are not public.

Please send a pm with your skill set and we can have a discussion.

The high circulation has enabled us to distribute the coin widely at low value, it's worked very nicely as you can see here https://chainz.cryptoid.info/explorer/bubble.dws?coin=carbon

Sounds like we're on similar pages about that. Originally (way back) we stated our long term vision as trying to stimulate natural carbon sinks - that is biodiverse natural habitats capable of producing a net draw down in carbon dioxide, without any ongoing human intervention.

Focusing on and encouraging native species to flourish would be a key part of this.

We've since decided that we'll settle for an upsurge in woodland coverage provided we are biodiverse (specifically not monoculture) once this side of the operation is underway we will then fund research into how to make the permanent carbon sink happen on a large scale.

Unfortunately the project relies on the adoption of the Carboncoin as a currency in order to work, and this task is proving non trivial - albeit we do keep moving forward.

We are actually looking at ways to stimulate tree planting activity outside of the charity funds but still associated with the project and are in talks about a few things here.

In addition the carbon credits initiative is specified and mandated but again requires a few specified tasks to be completed on the development side of things - these are underway but unfortunately when you are unable to pay people you are not in a position to tell them off for holding you up. A problem which has occurred frequently these past couple of years.

I think in retrospect had I not been so keen on spreading the currency out widely and evenly (the thing which prevented me from sourcing funds from speculators at the beginning) then we'd have planted more trees by now - but you live and learn don't you. At least when this goes, it goes big - until then it goes slow... unlike climate change unfortunately

Approximately 80% of our air pollution stems from hydrocarbons released by vegetation. How does carboncoin seek to address this. Most of the climate change debate is around man made emmissions spurred on by special interests in order to create a carbon market as we move towards a non industrialised age.

I'd love to see the data you are referring to here, as I am sure it can be put to good use.

Of course decomposition is a major source of emissions, but are you suggesting that a dramatic increase in the number of trees growing would not have a positive effect (for example over the lifespan of a tree ~150 years? And were we to continue to plant more trees and increase coverage (at an increasing rate) would this not easily offset the emissions of those trees which had died and were decomposing?

It has been suggested that we are some two trillion trees down from an original stock of ~5 trillion. This is a major thing which needs addressing for the long term survival of the species on the planet.

Sure, a meteor might hit and wipe us all out, but here, we simply aren't prepared to give up on this planet on the off chance we don't detect such a thing and take suitable steps to divert it - which I think is the basis of a popular justification for using resources for space exploration.

Strikes me that space exploration is a luxury afforded to those living in a stable habitat, not the situation we find ourselves in now.

37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fair number of coins kept by dev on: June 29, 2016, 03:53:07 PM
It's fair for the dev to hold as many coins as he can buy or mine but he shouldn't be his own largest investor. The poll is useless.

That's a useful statement and one which certainly applies in my case. The poll is about premine in the context of reward for developer - so you are saying that you are in the nothing at all camp but with the developer having free license to purchase and mine as he wishes

Do you not think that this raises potential conflicts of interest?

For my project which I have worked on for two years I have capped myself and those who have bought coins from me at 2%. Incidentally myself and the existing community had no access to any premine.

Are you saying that as long as there is someone with more coins than the me the amount should be uncapped e.g. you'd be comfortable investing in a coin if, say, one other person owned 12% and the dev owned 10%?

I say this believing that in cryptocurrencies the primary mechanism for value appreciation is the network effect, and I see large holders impeding this. Very interested to hear contrasting views!

Yes, zero premine. If he needs aditional funding he should use devcoin example and get small payout per block.

Conflict of interest is a problem but if he doesn't hold his own coin he also has no incentive to make it great. It's best for him to make his holdings public on the chain and also tell people his plan of purchase and selling. If he is following a longterm predefined buy and sellshedule i don't see an issue. He should hold his coins for longterm and not engage in daily tradingactivities. His coins are a commodity for him to reap reward of his work.

Maybe corret that a little: he shouldn't be among his 10 largest invests, maybe 20 even. So him being his second largest investor is still a bit too much imo. But somewhere on 20th or 30th spot should be perfectly fine. I think a dev holding 2% or 3% of his coin that he mined or bought and is holding public and not daily trading is ok.

Dev holdings and buy/sell shouldn't be a big topic actually. His default should be "hold". And only buy for hold longterm and only sell with weeks and months notice ahead and in small chunks - and never sell out completely.
Dev really shouldn't make more than 4 or 5 trades a year because he's a dev and not a trader.

Yep, no one's getting my 2% from me! It's clear I should publish my distribution acheivements - about 70% of the total circ is in the hands of people in it for the long term already, with none of those owning more than 2%

Thank you for your input!

I don't know any coins that operate without either Proof-of-work or Proof-of-Stake. To make your ideal a reality someone would have to invent a new way to power a block chain, unless I missed a coin that quietly implemented a new system without many people noticing.

I have such technology under development.

so you wanna be funded?
you may wanna just join a team instead and with their existing coin if possible, you wouldn't need more funds but just an update to the coin. and you still have the legacy still.

Help wanted

The best initial distribution of an alt is to take the snapshot of bitcoin blockchain at a particular point of time and enable holders of these bitcoins to receive this altcoins, in proportion to their bitcoin holdings.

That is Proof-of-Burn (PoB) or Proof-of-Sign.

Neither raise any funds for development of the ecosystem.

Proof-of-sign duplicates Bitcoin's corrupt distribution controlled by mining farms who mine at perhaps $50 cost (some of us even think they get free subsidized electricity in China paid for by the State) while we pay $600 cost.

For those who want to duplicate Bitcoin's distribution, they may prefer this. I should not judge for them what they want. I am just explaining why it wouldn't fit my ideal.

There is a real world analogue in the conventional financial system for raising funds while growing the ecosystem - can you guess which coin's been using it all along? Smiley
