1  Other / Off-topic / Re: How can we act against scammers, hackers and criminals? on: February 20, 2024, 01:31:34 AM
It has always been the nature of scammers and hackers to take advantage of the ignorance of novice and also the inception of a new tech to do their  dirty job. This has been the norms of scammers to always have their ways where ever they are but being self conscious and alert will help you better.  Nobody can help you save your assets than you. So therefore, it is pertinent that one avoids clicking links they have knowledge about and linking of accounts and wallets to websites because doing such alone  means you granting them access to your account or wallets for them to do whatever they wish to do.

3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the importance of identify in your local board? on: November 30, 2023, 08:36:05 AM
Posting on your local board is not compulsory neither is it necessary. There are a million and one people here that have been here for years and are not posting on their local board but they have been making ways for themselves all these while. Some people I guess do not want to identify with their local board as a result of being anonymous and wanting to maintain their privacy here as a result of the mode of work here.

However, as it is not compulsory that one must identify with their local board, there are some possible other engagements one could be able to benefit from and they have been mentioned already by other members here. Brainstorming of ideas, helping each other to solving problems, talking of their country's involvement in bitcoin and lots more. I think these can be a way forward for the local boards.

I think one of the major reasons why local board was created was for language barrier in communication. People or countries who can not speak or write English since it is the universal language here can easily get involved in bitcoin discussion conversations among themselves with those who knows English to educate and enlighten them more about bitcoin within their local board in their own local language for them to understand properly.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Estimate halving time with block time and a calculator on: November 18, 2023, 10:44:00 AM
Definitely the crypto and bitcoin community are eagerly waiting and anticipating the halving come next year 2023 with very high expectations in price hike which is always the outcome of the occurrence  but I would say that this estimate calculated by OP as shown on the website is based on assumption because there is every tendency that it is not 100% accurate.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Satoshi have known? on: September 27, 2023, 09:04:04 PM
Satoshi knew that bitcoin would get to this point and he took his time to develop and build the bitcoin master plan. He envisioned it far beyond just using it as a means of digital payment he also knew it would be a good store of value which people would want to hold onto to measure the value of their wealth. For bitcoin to have gained this popularity people saw it just more than a means payment but just as satoshi has envisioned.   There it turned out to be a store of value which made it more popular and volatile.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can Bitcoin provide food for our table on: August 08, 2023, 03:27:24 PM
I really think your statement is not complete OP. When you say bitcoin puts food on our table, you should categorically state the measures through which bitcoin puts food because there are lots of activities one can get engaged him or herself with to get food on their table through bitcoin.
You can buy bitcoin and use it to buy or exchange for food items which is commendable. You can trade bitcoin to get more profit which you can also use to buy or exchange for food items. You can also work for it ie work to earn bitcoin as a pay for your service rendered.  Typical example is this platform where people do some jobs here such as article writing, community moderation and management, web design etc which they are being paid in bitcoin and after which they can decide whatever they want to do with their bitcoin while some buy food just as you have said.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Thoughts on Bitcoin Adoption - I Could Be Wrong, So Let's Discuss! on: August 07, 2023, 04:54:23 PM

  • Educate and Engage: Let's  step out of the comfort zone and educate, give, and promote the entry of new local actors.
Education is always the key to knowledge and information dissemination. When one is educated, they are fully equipped to know the concepts of a given mechanism as the case maybe but in the case of the El-Salvador bitcoin adoption, I believe it was as a result of the decline in bitcoin price that led to their current situation. I could recall that they bought bitcoin when it was high and all of a sudden there was a drastic decline in price which affected their bitcoin reserve and since then it gave the nationals a wrong expression towards bitcoin and the citizens not too inclined are really against bitcoin adoption and that has caused economic crises in their country.

If these people are properly educated I  believe they would come to the benefits of bitcoin in the economy and on the other hand I see the
El-Salvador situation as a political motivated one to smear the image of their President.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Borrow to Buy Bitcoin is Not Advisable.Consider the Factors Before Doing That. on: August 05, 2023, 11:14:57 AM
Taking a loan for a risky and volatile market is a dangerous business or investment idea as no one can predict the next swing and direction of the market that is why we are advised to use our spare cash or money we can afford to lose but a loan is not a money you can afford to lose neither is it a spare cash. For the sake of your peace it is a loan and accrued debt on your side you which means if you burn it up possibly you can not pay back because before you borrowed it, you have nothing on you and you took the loan with the mindset of paying it back with profit. It is better you avoid it than giving yourself some stress to paying back if things go sour.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Not Crypto, The SEC Confirms on: August 02, 2023, 02:12:33 PM
Bitcoin, due to its decentralized nature, market cap, and lack of involvement by its founder, does not fit the criteria of a security according to them.

They should know before hand that Bitcoin is a community driving asset and nobody has the soul autonomy over it. The founder did hand it over to the masses and left anonymously which made it very difficult for him to be spotted. So therefore, no single individual would claim to have invented the Bitcoin without proof attached. It is decentralised because of the nature and how the founder wanted it to be so that the masses could be in control of it and not a single individual.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Memecoins Vs legit Altcoins in 2023 on: July 29, 2023, 12:22:06 PM
Meme coin are a pump and dump coin. So I am not surprised if you say so because scammers and get rich quick actors are always ready to take advantage of the situation to makeore money from the newbies in the system. For sometime now it seems meme coin are taking position in the crypto market with good outcome from holders who kept promoting  it as a result of what they have benefited from it. Celebrities too who support and promote meme coin are another reasons why the meme coin are still doing much well in the crypto market.
Memecoins do not waste time to grow very fast compared to legit altcoin which would require time to build and nurture to the final stage before it starts utilising it's potentials in the market. Just as you have said, legit coin takes time to be build as a result of the nature of their projects but memecoin doesn't need such as it is a hype type of work to gain attention of big names to aid in providing promotional content for which they would be of great benefit from.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Robert Kennedy Jr bought each of his 7 kids 2 BTC each! on: July 27, 2023, 08:49:18 AM
Who cares how much Bitcoin he bought. Any person can decide to buy Bitcoin as it pleases them as nobody owes anyone whatsoever. Possibly, he has been campaigning and one of his major campaign point is focused on Bitcoin adoption which has so far gianed attention so I believe doing such will mean him leading by example which will make him the topic of discussion but my thoughts are as follows, why choose now to do such, you claim you are a Bitcoin enthusiast why did you not do all these you have been doing earlier before now so that the electorate would know it's not strange and would acknowledge the fact that you have long been doing such why now buying Bitcoin and making it public so that people would start talking. I am beginning to see all these as a cheap political campaign point and not making any sense.

OP next time do well to attach your reference so as not to get your account in a plagiarism saga.
12  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Belarus wants to ban bitcoin P2P transactions on: July 04, 2023, 09:30:23 PM
According to where I read it, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus said thee is high crypto crime rate in P2P crypto transactions while exchange bitcoin with each other.

Although what the government has said is nothing different from the truth, meeting and exchanging is a bit risky as you do not know who is who and the next move or plans of your counter part so one needs to be very careful when dealing or engaging in such transactions. On the other hand the government is trying to protect each and everyone member of Belarusian involved in crypto for their own safety.

I feel since the citizens  of Belarus do not want to pay tax for crypto transaction hence their indulgence in p2p transactions and there is nothing the government can do about it as long as they can not trace money movement and knowing where it is coming with the reasons such money was paid for so i think it is a waste of time the government thinks of man hunting her citizens.
13  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Belarus wants to ban bitcoin P2P transactions on: July 03, 2023, 10:15:22 PM
According to where I read it, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus said thee is high crypto crime rate in P2P crypto transactions while exchange bitcoin with each other.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/belarus-wants-to-ban-p2p-cryptocurrency-transactions

Quote
The authority cited a high cybercrime rate in Belarus, stating that local prosecutors have suppressed the activity of 27 citizens providing “illegal crypto exchange services” since January 2023. Their total illegal revenues amounted to nearly 22 million Belarusian rubles ($8.7 million).

So if Belarusian wants to sell bitcoin which is an asset to themselves, they have to go through a centralized exchange approved by Belarus Hi-Tech Park (HTP).

Is this not too hash?

There is nothing that can stop P2P trading. It can only be reduced.

We cannot deny that trading P2P certainly pose a risk for both party since meeting face to face may trigger a crime if the other party intend to swindle the other party.  In a huge transaction, this might result in a bloodbath.  This is also one reason why I prefer selling my BTC in an online exchange to avoid this kind of incident.

In terms of the government suggesting the use of centralized exchange and the plan to ban P2p may also have something to do with the taxation.  But whatever the motive behind the government of Belarus wanting to ban P2P can only be seen after the government had successfully passed a law of banning P2P transactions.

Obviously true sir. Most times what the government see and try to prevent is what people do not see. For the aspect of security, this is very risky and moreover, a deadly exposure of one to danger. Going out for a p2p transaction does not guarantee ones safety neither does it guarantees ones assurance of successfully p2p trading success but rather insecurity and possible theft or kidnap. I still believe banning p2p would be very difficult for the government to do because they are not everywhere to monitor what every one in Belarus is doing.  So it is a waste of time doing such.
14  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Belarus wants to ban bitcoin P2P transactions on: July 03, 2023, 09:06:25 PM
I believe all these rantings by the Belarusian government is as a result of the tax they are not benefiting from the p2p transactions. Belarusian citizens are very  smart all these while bypassing their CEX using only p2p to execute their crypto deals which is a good one. The government are just after their own cut of the transaction cake so that nothing passes them hence their move to ban the p2p platform but i am very sure it would be difficult for them to do so because they have to device to detect crypto p2p trades as anyone can transact any amount in accordance to Belarusian country monetary policy. Just as cryptovator has said the  "decision seems completely unrealistic".
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Buys Bitcoin When The Price is 100k$? on: July 01, 2023, 03:53:51 AM
OP whether you like it or not, there are people who would still buy bitcoin. I believe you know that organizations that accept bitcoin as a means of payment are still in existence. So therefore irrespective of the price action on bitcoin market, they would still accept it for business to keep striving. I predict it to go beyond that price in the nearest future  and in that case, it would be much expensive and worth holding.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Without money, the knowledge is a waste on: June 27, 2023, 04:37:36 PM
The current social system has become such that people now select people's qualifications according to who has how much money. Educational qualification or knowledge is not valued now you have money then you are qualified person. A man with money is now sitting in a worthy place where an educated person should sit. If you have money, there is no shortage of people to give knowledge, so it is important to earn money. I believe about 90% of the world's work is possible through money. Even the legal system can be changed if you have enough money. So we should not only run for knowledge but also think about how to earn money along with knowledge. Because money is the first importance in life.

You sound more of a kid man. How can advise someone to focus on money without knowledge. Do you not know that it takes knowledge to get that money itself. Do you not know that money itself requires the possessor to be well educated and knowledgeable to sustain it. Ofcourse you are right when you say peoples qualification on social media these days is based on the volume of money they have in their bank account or the physical presentation of their wealth in display but do not forget that those people got knowledge before that had amassed such wealth. It is also true that money stops nonsense and money is powerful.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Without money, the knowledge is a waste on: June 27, 2023, 11:36:27 AM
I assume you got it all wrong mate. Knowledge is very important because it would aid you sustain your money. How do you feel getting all the money you want and no knowledge to retain them. It is more or less you being at square zero. So i would say this, go for knowledge as it would bring you the money you long anticipated to have if you got the opportunity of doing that.

If sourcing for knowledge seems difficult for you, there are meaningful skills out there which is still part of the knowledge to acquire in self development too. With this, you can be able to acquire the money you desire as a result of the knowledge you have gained.
18  Economy / Speculation / Re: Take advantage of the price fall. on: June 12, 2023, 02:24:07 PM
It is good you are here. However, it is also advised that before one gets into any crypto  or bitcoin investment, one should be able to conduct his or her due diligence so as to know and be sure of  what they are about signing up for. These are the mistakes made by investors. They fail to do the needful and that sometimes results to their regrets and recorded failures which they caused on themselves.
I think you should go back with your friend to the drawing board to making a good map outline for your bitcoin investment strategy.
19  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Duelbits, $500,000 scam alert. on: June 01, 2023, 02:08:55 AM
I see the customer care is just  a mess coupled with team not being specific on time and date to respond with their investigation result. I was wondering if they could release that kind of money to a winner if they truly have that financial strength to do so. OP, it is doubtful how this can be when  without no much evidence back your accusations. Why not do a review on your  complaint.
20  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people stay poor? on: May 26, 2023, 10:31:35 PM
Being rich and being poor is all about your mental capacity to think and develop to make progress. Some people are not good at thinking to generate money while some are fast thinkers to make progress so you can not make more money without being a thinker. Thinkers are good revenue generators which i damn see as a means of making more money. You want to be rich? Think big man.
