s5 or sp20 are middle class, but you are probably bored of them. I kept one Sp20 just to play with it.

The SP20 is definitely the good kind of boring. I've got one that's been mining for over 270 days with no problems. As long as I feed it cold air, it consistently performs like work horse.

Too bad that Spondoolies are out of the running this time around. It would be nice for Bitmain to have some competition right about now.

Is bfgminer support on track?
Yeah, might be a bit bumpy initially, but I can at least commit to it mining reliably (disclaimer: I've only tested in --benchmark mode so far :p).

Thanks Luke-Jr! Looking forward to it.

Will there be pre-built Mac OS X binaries?

If not then I can build them myself. Just want to know what I'm up against...
Usually nwoolls does the Mac binaries - but I haven't heard from him lately, so not sure if he'll continue to do so.

Yes, I've seen nwoolls work. Nice stuff.

I'm not looking for more work, but if nwoolls is AWOL and you need help with the Mac binaries, I can probably build them. I'm a Mac developer.

To the DDoS organizator:

What a puerile way to express yourself.

Instead of adding hashrate to your selected option (which is obviously non-BIP101), you instead attack the only possible way to vote, the only bastion of truth.

Making everyone mine "core" instead of letting people vote and express themselves, letting the majority decide, you've just let everyone down and made an argument in favor of tyranny, the tyranny of a few individuals that think a tightly closed elite must decide the future of the cryptocurrency.

You sir/madam are promoting tyranny and elitism, not the real values of anarchy i think.

You have made the world a little bit worse by letting the "powers that be" control our future, instead of letting us all measure ourselves in a universal and direct vote.

Well said!

BIP101 voting disabled because of DDoS attack 6 days, 21 hours
We were forced to close voting ports 3301 for supporting BIP101 proposal.

Please, use the regular ports 3333 for now. We'll keep you updated.

Interesting. So the attack is focused on the BIP101 voting port?

I guess that means this is a politically motivated attack, not the usual greed. That's even more unsettling.

This whole XT/Core fight has gotten out of hand...

The robot arrived about 6PM today. Tomorrow I'll learn how to make it do the stuff and hopefully start busting out sticks. We might make our Thursday ship target after all.

Great news!

Is bfgminer support on track?

Looks like I need to get one of those USB Y connectors. Haven't gotten around to a hub mod yet.
647  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 01, 2015, 01:31:31 PM
Looks like its settled down now .... but yeah, would be nice to hear what (if any) the issue was. Really strange that as slush has always been a steady pool connection-wise.

The Facebook page has indicated that it was a DDoS attack (as we guessed), with a second wave four hours ago.

My miners saw a few more hiccups last night and early this morning. At the moment the pool appears dead again, so we're not out of this yet.

I hate DDoSers. They should take their talents and apply them to constructive ways to make money instead of lame ass shake downs.

Also, you would think that if you wanted to hold a pool for ransom, you'd do it earlier in the no fee promotion, not on the last day.

So in addition to being lazy and evil, they're also stupid.
648  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 01, 2015, 12:38:29 AM
Either slush fidgeting with the pool, AWS is having issues or pool is under attack.
Connections are very intermitent on port 3301 resulting in lots of stales when connection resumes .... I had port 3333 of the main stratum url as first backup but that on most of my rigs is now being reported as Dead ..... ! Nothing on FB yet either from slush ...

I'm manually pointing my miners elsewhere until this gets hashed out.

It would be nice to hear something from "our captain" on the FB page...
649  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 01, 2015, 12:02:30 AM
Was that a server outage? Seems like all my rigs were knocked off port 3301 and could not fail over to the standard port 3333.
And the pool hashrate also dropped to < 20PH from > 30PH. Does not make sense with the fabulous luck we've had last few days ....

Same is happening to me. I'm in the US on the West coast.

Started getting warning emails at 4:25 PM PDT. Came back on at 4:41, then off again at 4:55.

Must be a problem with slush's servers.

Or an denial of service attack. I have no evidence of that. Just a guess.

Looks like they finally sold out of batch 1. Took a lot longer than the previous smaller models.

Sorry! False alarm. Not enough coffee this morning!
651  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: August 31, 2015, 03:09:58 PM
If anyone can do it, I bet sidehack could figure out what would be the best way to encase a single blade, an issue would be controllers though if Bitmain isn't involved.

So is the S7 board size so different that it would not fit in an S5?

Maybe Bitmain could offer an upgrade package?

I just need one.. If someone has some they won't use

Id: mullenium

To whoever donated a coupon to this individual. It appears as if your coupon has been posted on eBay for fiat currency profit of $50. Sad  This user also PM'd me begging for coupons...

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=201418035783&globalID=EBAY-US

-droid-

That's a pretty scummy thing to do

Considering I sent him one... where is my cut droid?

I guess I didn't ask if he was not going to sell.  Just assumed.  But still surprising if true.

Not the first time by the looks of his trust rating:

R4v37 0: -0 / +0   2014-06-20    0.50000000    "not a man who'll keeps his words...  nvm, hope u enjoy that coupon Cheesy "

That is a pretty low life thing to do, even for this forum.

Wow. He sent me a PM asking for coupons too. So at least he's a hard working scammer.

I'm still one coupon short if anyone wants to donate to me. I promise that I'll actually use it, not sell it.

I have a G1600 and it is fairly quiet, I can't imagine a 1600w server psu though, I have heard they are as loud as some units alone. I think ATX is a requirement when trying to keep sound down.

Agreed. But with the requirement of 10 PCIe power connections per S7, cabling can be a challenge with the ATX approach.

I recently moved to a pair of Bladecenter H 2880w server PSUs (from Finksy). They are awesome. Highly recommended. But they're also the opposite of quiet...

Thankfully they are 8 miles away in a colo rack. I can barely hear them from here Wink

I know two people in Seattle.  My god daughter and her roomate.

Now you just have to introduce them to a very loud, but very hot, third roommate Wink

Well it looks like home mining is finally dead from Bitmain, with such a high entry price and the noise from this unit it would be unreal. Hopefully they make an S7 mini that hashes around half the speed in the old form factor for 600w and half the price.

Yeah, if they had both models (regular and mini) it seems like they would move a ton of chips. Data center scale farms would be happy. Home miners would be happy.

It's a missed opportunity, but maybe not too late.
656  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: August 31, 2015, 01:35:20 AM
buying 2 solves the problem  as  the controller can handle extra blades

Interesting.  i didn't know that the controller could handle more blades.  Is it the same controller as the S5+ that can handle 9 blades?  That would be one monster miner with 3 S7s mashed together onto one controller to make a 14.58TH monster.

Duh I just looked at the original post and right there is a super clear picture of the controller with all 9 ports.

That's a very interesting idea. Not only for reliability. It's easier to manage if all the blades are under one web interface.

Anyone know if the stock cables will reach from one unit to an adjacent unit's controller?

Batch 1 hasn't sold out yet. Not that surprising given the price.

This is definitely not a repeat of the S3 (the last Antminer that I bought). The first two batches of that model sold out in hours.

It's too bad they didn't also offer a less dense model for a lower price. People are champing at the bit for new hardware, but can't handle the entry wound of the S7 price.

I disagree price is not the issue.

This miner will be louder then the s-5  and if you are running it in your home your wife or girlfriend or mom or neighbor will be wanting to toss you a beating.

My max power that I can do is 11k

So I could run 9  in my house during the winter and my wife will be on the news as bitcoiner's wife  kills husband with a miner in his sleep!

Maybe ear plugs for your wife could save your life Wink

You're right that price is not the only issue. It basically comes back to density.

A less dense model would have reduced power requirements, produce less waste heat and noise, *and* would be more affordable.

But clearly Bitmain is catering more to their larger data center customers than home miners. That trend will likely continue, unfortunately.

I'd love a couple of coupons too please!

I'm a really nice and deserving guy Wink

There's got to be people out there who bought S5's that have no intention of buying an S7. Spread the love, please!

PM me and I'll give you my Bitmain ID, and my undying devotion Wink
