461  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Program to monitor the different exchange rates on: July 18, 2012, 07:55:56 PM
My simple solution was to scrape something like bitcoincharts into a spreadsheet.  I also link to FX markets and GLBSE so I can update as required for the different exchanges and currencies I monitor.  When I was trading more frequently it also calculated my arb opportunities.  Now I just use it for real time accounting.
462  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Starfish BCB - Loans and Deposits (deposit rate 1.0%/week from 1 August) on: July 18, 2012, 07:47:57 PM
This is tiresome to repeat, but based on a pm I received overnight asking for a withdrawal, it needs to be repeated.

Deposits are not exposed to BS&T.  Even if some of my borrowers choose to stick funds into BS&T and BS&T fails, the deposits are covered by other funds not exposed to BS&T.  Starfish deposits are not BS&T exposed.

I really don't know how to make it any clearer.
463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica MtGox account compromised on: July 18, 2012, 03:20:40 AM
My confusion was not taking the relevant jurisdiction to the different entities as I thought you were talking about the NZ one.  The LP is in the UK (as a working assumption).
464  Economy / Marketplace / Re: 1 BTC reward to someone who can help me with my monitor issue on: July 18, 2012, 02:44:11 AM
Are you plugging into a HDMI/DVI or VGA input.  I have monitors that run happily on VGA from my KVM switches, but when I plug in via the other cable I get nothing.  Took me a week to figure out until I pushed all the buttons on it and selected "digital" input (it was on the "-" button normally used for adjusting bright/contrast).  Even wasted $40 on a new cable thinking that was the problem.
465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica MtGox account compromised on: July 18, 2012, 02:40:12 AM
Maybe this accountant needs to get a summons.

I suspect that the most relevant thing in all of this is going to be the partnership agreement.

Still watching with interest.  Not sure what you mean by "partnership agreement" as the NZ entity is simply a limited liability company with a single director/shareholder.  The provisions of the Companies Act 1993 will apply with regard to duties of directors.

But no, seriously.  I really would like 30 BTC.  seriouscat.jpg

You mean this one - I'd have to say you're in danger of ID theft, but at least it shows fruit on your head.

oic.

And as for, why is he posting in Lending?

I heard this was a place to come to if you wanted coins and had absolutely no intention of paying back.  At least I try to contribute to the forum, even if I sound like a broken clock sometimes.

Where is your picture with a pineapple on your head?

We ran out of shoes???

It's easy to rent a shoe/head stand-in.  You don't even know if it's their own shoe (identity theft - check the shoe size).

And as Tomatocage said, some asshat stole his pineapple - maybe that's why he needs donations and litecoins was just a lame excuse to hide the real reason to ask for 30 BTC.  Still, a 30 BTC pineapple would be impressive.

That's ok.  It's not huge.

How many solidcoins is that?  I could donate 30 i0coins.
471  Economy / Lending / Re: Btc loan request 4.5btc on: July 17, 2012, 08:53:43 PM
Why would anyone scam just $38?  Serious question here.

When I was 13, $38 was a lot - but that was a long time ago.
When I was 21, it would buy a week of groceries, but that was also a while ago.
Now $38 doesn't even buy a decent bottle of whiskey (but decent vodka maybe).  Simply a matter of degrees.

By the above reasoning, for 4.5 BTC I have some entertainment and have identified a 13 year old with a bad credit history.

They have not disappeared completely, and I am chasing it.

Coins recieved

Good, now you can repay your loan that is overdue.   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=90788.0

Escrow coins received.

Haha Pat, I would hope so Smiley Do you mind elaborating how that works exactly, or if you'd rather not make this set of criteria public for abuse, explain how you mitigate the possibility of someone sending you manipulated information that favorably fits your credit rating criteria?

The basic mechanics are in: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=81542.msg1015968#msg1015968
I've sent ten or twelve requests out to the people that take deposits and have received back two and know a couple of others are in process.  I have even invited Pirate to fill one out, but that was more for fun to see if he would (especially now he's commented in the Dank Bank thread).

There is potential for abuse of the credit rating system, and for people to simply lie.  That wouldn't be a very smart thing to do as that would get them a simple "Z" rating.  There are also a number of other people who will be looking pretty carefully at the information provided and will be able to highlight discrepancies.  As well, over the past year  I've read a lot and done a lot of business, including keeping tabs on the actions of various people as they come into the deposit taking space.

I have been asked to rate issues as well as issuers, and there are some other metrics that might be useful such as size/diversity, but those are harder to account for.  Also, this is very early days for ratings and I've had feedback from one person that it's going to take a few days to clean up their records - a positive step and if someone doesn't know their position, they probably shouldn't have a rating.  As contract, if someone knows their position, that's a positive (fundamental) aspect of ability to take and repay deposits.

Most importantly, I have a lot of information in my possession and know a lot of stuff that I simply can not and will not disclose.

As for Starfish BCB, I know the ratios and rules and I follow them just like anyone else, and in another seven days I have a 10 BTC bad debt roll off and that will affect the numerical score for that item.
476  Economy / Services / Re: I need some working drivers :] (bounty) on: July 16, 2012, 09:29:14 PM
I did some testing during the weekend with the DS3tool and it recognised the controller and buttons ok, but not the rumble or analog controls.  But then I'm not much of a gamer.

(and I couldn't remember the specific resolution on the eyfinity - my daughter liked the 3x22" screen wrap around for Oblivion though)
477  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Who Pays What? on: July 16, 2012, 07:27:39 AM

Thanks, I was just wondering since Ziggistar seemed to have popped up here on March ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=54441;sa=showPosts;start=180 ) and I was wondering how he achieved a AAA if you say he has been around here a long time. For the second part when calculating assets and all that, do people just give you a list of numbers that you simply take as true or is there more diligence in making sure the numbers are realistic/truthful?

There is more to it than that.
478  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: {ANNOUNCEMENT} WBX Exchange Frozen on: July 16, 2012, 05:18:07 AM
Just as a quick update, I've just finished a lengthy call on another matter with my lawyer in Sydney (another $200), and we finished up quickly discussing Andre.  Some time ago, Andre asked me to provide details so his lawyer could talk to my lawyer.  As expected, that was simple bullshit.

Not real news, but for interest.
479  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTCWebHost.com - Share Holder Dividend Payments Today on: July 16, 2012, 04:27:02 AM
Bump for end of quarter dividends.  Also, is there a BTCWebhost thread in Securities?
480  Other / Off-topic / Re: I think I have a severe case of Bitcoinitis - help! on: July 15, 2012, 11:54:33 PM
I had to look up bitcoinwatch.com.

I don't think you're really infected, because you still worry about exchange rates.
