901  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGminer v2.7.1 on Broadcom based DD-WRT / OpenWRT on: August 24, 2012, 01:40:05 AM
Need to install optware (OTRW)
Links to do that are in the readme.

You might want to add the updated optware (OTRW2) instructions http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=156013

is really annoying for the 7 days bug !

i wonder if possible to add auto restart feature for windows CGminer

so every 7 days it will auto restart itself !

well you should be able to with task schedule

You can also use:
--shares <arg>      Quit after mining N shares (default: unlimited)

in a loop

Here is a more detailed breakdown of the most common AMD/ATI Based mining cards with their shader/processor count:
Look up your card, and then in the "Clock rate" column, your "Core (MHz)" and the corresponding processors/shaders is the first # in column "Config core"

Some cards have the same model numbers yet they differ in their shader/processor count

Okay I've thought about it some more and I think the best way forwards is to do away with the --lookup-gap and --thread-concurrency options and just get the user to input the shader count of their device and let cgminer choose. This will always set lookup gap to 2 and set the thread concurrency to the highest it can be that is a multiple of the shader count which would be much easier for users to configure. This then leaves you with the choice of gpu threads and intensity still. Otherwise there is far too much to configure, and most people won't be able to figure out how to do it. I plan to include a readme with the shader count of the various hardware like in that earlier post. What do people think of this?

Eg for a 6850 and 5770:
cgminer --shaders 960,800

Could you set those as the defaults and have the options to change them via command line or in the .conf file.

908  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL Products: Will Jalapeno et.al. include.... on: July 10, 2012, 04:52:01 AM
Is it me, or does BFL have a weird fixation on coffee? There's the Jalapeno of course, but it also seems that about half the pics on their website involve a coffee cup somehow. I'm not prone to conspiracy theories, but I dunno, it just seems strange. Maybe the manufacture of bitcoin mining hardware is just a stepping stone toward domination of world coffee markets?  Wink

You will know when you see a $30,000 BFL espesso machine offered next quarter.

That will be the coffee roaster!
909  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will the CGMINER developer get a loaner unit from BFL? on: July 09, 2012, 12:14:13 AM
OK, kind of new I should have stuck to supporting kano and con for their cgminer work and just STFU on Luke.

Good call, my bad, carry on.

I honestly have no f'in clue what Luke does, so I won't comment about him again.
I took CGMiner, the GPU miner, and rewrote significant pieces to make it modular and support FPGAs additionally. Everything FPGA-related in CGMiner is based on that work, but Con has opted to fork it in CGMiner and force me to continue the original modular/FPGA project independently as BFGMiner. Don't buy into the trolls and their FUD. Despite Con's renewed interest in maintaining CGMiner as a fork of BFGMiner now that he realizes GPUs are history, the original (BFGMiner) is still better. Wink
You ought to be hanged from a tree for making it sound as though you were the original writer of cgminer. Quit using such weasel language.
The original author of the codebase was Jeff Garzik. Con added GPU support. I added FPGA support. Con then took the FPGA support into his, and eventually forked from the main FPGA codebase. As of right now, CGMiner as it is, is a fork of BFGMiner. That is the truth.

Enough with all of your spam in the threads , why don't you each go your separate ways with your forks. Luke take all of conman's code out of your fork and then proceed from there. It should work fine, after all, you have stated:      https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=90656.msg1015760#msg1015760

910  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL Singles crashing my DSL Modem on: July 02, 2012, 06:55:02 AM
I currently have 24 singles and I'm using CGMiner 2.4.1 win. I was going nuts at first trying to figure this out.. all of a sudden as soon as I would start the miner with 21 singles at first(before I got the other 3) then my internet would instantaneously stop working, about 5 seconds later my DSL modem which is upstairs 2 floors up linked to my wireless router would hang and start flashing all it's lights non stop like a Christmas tree a simple reboot restored the internet but any attempt to start ufasoft miner with all the units would cause the same problem the modem would crash and would require me to turn it off and turn it on again... after playing with it I noticed that if I only used 10 the modem wouldn't crash... so following that logic I added units until the problem would happen again... my current limit is 16 units, at 16 it works perfectly... but if I add a 17th unit the modem will hang shortly after the program sends the first found nounce(sp?)

Anyone has any idea what could be happening with this thing... I know the modem works perfectly fine for anything else...I can download and upload any amount of data while the 16 units are running and nothing happens. But just starting a single extra unit after 16 and have it on a different miner software or adding the extra to cgminer will instantly crash the modem even if it was fine for hours before.

Would you like to go on record for the target date? Delivery in October leaves you much wiggle room and we do not know when to start counting in case of failure to comply. Thanks.

They have said that they are going to be manufacturing a large batch and send those out at once to prevent one person from getting an advantage. Honestly, I hope the just produce as many as they can and start the first shipments on October 31st to make that first batch as big as possible.

That's my hope, but I still think the delivery will slip to December.

6 months sounds a lot better than 12 months though. The only question is, will the world live long enough to see the end of bitcoin?  Roll Eyes
Maybe this is what leads to the end of the world? Maybe with all those hashes the bitcoin network becomes self aware and destroys the world?

You never know, the estimated Block reward reduction date is December 7th.

914  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: June 13, 2012, 08:46:58 PM
I am a big fan of BAMT.

I there any way to schedule BAMT mining to run at a specific time of the day?  I have 3 rigs (each with 5 5830’s).  Each rig draws about 1KW of power.  This is a lot of power consumption and I am not sure it is economically profitable to run during “Peak demand” time periods.  Fortunately, my power company offers substantial discounts to shift loads to “Off peak”.

Ideally, I would like to power up and mine at night and use minimal power during the day.

I have heard that cron jobs may be a solution but I have not yet figured out how they work.

Any ideas?

Get a plug in timer that can handle the wattage and set the times. (easiest solutions work best)

*Sniff*

I'm leaving you.

*sniff*

It's not you, it's me.

*sniff*

I lie, it is you.

With a reject rate of always >1.5% (currently 2.2% over the last 2 days!)

I don't know why it should be, ping is the same as with EMC (60ms), but that has a reject rate of ~0.7%.

Ho hum Smiley

Baby,
We can work this out. (Ooooppps, wrong board)  Tongue

Check your settings, or try the other us server. I'm getting 0.29% rejects.

P_Shep - nice work, could you place the hashrate in the tab shown between "Anubis -" and "a cgminer..." and an autorefresh timer.

Thanks

Has anyone tried some of these: http://indigo-xtreme.com/

I use Cooljag's Thermal Compound (Shin-Etsu x23-7762) on all my GPU's it works far better than Artic or IC Diamond for the uneven surfaces.

Cost shouldn't be a big limiting factor with TIM, if you already paid $600 for the unit and $10/15 difference in better product is a wise insurance investment.

919  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Neighbourhood Pool Watch 1: No-one should mine at Bitclockers on: March 01, 2012, 01:44:58 PM

This is the problem with having "pools" and "exchanges" being unverified.
Interesting, about 6 months ago I mentioned somewhere about miners trusting anonomous nicks with no other info Smiley - and was howled down in the community. oh well Smiley

If we look at how exchanges now want us (miners) to ID ourselves, why should we not expect the same of exchanges and pools. Who are they? Should they be registered as a business, should they post a bond against fraud. Should there be some oversight council. We need to police ourselves before it is imposed on us by those who have no clue.
Those of us that are here for the longterm I think are taking steps towards this, I know of at least one other pool that is a registered buisness...

Post a bond against fraud: hmm interesting - will you insure pools and exchanges against hacking (i know entirely different subject)... but lets be a bit real Smiley

There should be a group of  people overseeing this yes, it has been mentioned before in this thread and others.

Actually if people took more responsibility for themselves and did research on pools or exchanges before they use them would be less need for policing.

Garet,
You are one of the few pools that I actually have full respect for, you have been completely open with your pool and it's progression.  The bond would be against the exchange/pool cheating people against their monetary investment. Hacking of a pool can be be covered by insurance against hacking(cost of business). Unfortunately, if we don't police our own neck of the woods, legislation will.
920  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Neighbourhood Pool Watch 1: No-one should mine at Bitclockers on: March 01, 2012, 01:30:11 PM
I have no agendas and again , never said its OK what they are doing.

I did say I have a "thing" about hopping and in this case it seems the
hoppers are pissed,  at least more than other miners.

So, maybe I commented on the subject  because of that...

Whether you have a thing against hoppers or not, does not justify your interference, take that up in another thread,, I had bitcloakers as my backup, I was screwed by 21%. So if you have an issue against hoppers, do it in your own thread. This is about Bitcloaker, STEALING and LYING. Unless you have something productive (actual statistical evidence) go post in another thread and stop obscuring the purpose of this thread for your own ego.
