821  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER miner overclock monitor fanspeed RPC in C linux/windows/osx 2.1.2 on: January 19, 2012, 04:39:24 PM
I had a scantime of 8 secs on all my miners previously, increased it to 45 secs and now I achieve an efficiency of 60%+ after 24 hrs.

I will keep monitoring to see whether this affects my invalids/stales in anyway
822  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER miner overclock monitor fanspeed RPC in C linux/windows/osx 2.1.2 on: January 18, 2012, 12:37:07 PM
I turned on donation when it was first introduced but somehow my performance dropped, lots of

'pool not responding' errors

That's the main reason I turned it off back then, I much rather prefer to send some coins once in a while

That said, i am forgetting a lot these days (must be old age lol), so there are some coins coming your way as I type this !

Thanks for your hard and above all very good work  Wink

On the BTCGuild thread we are talking about the efficiency of CGMiner for different users

I have 9 miners, all between 200 & 350 MHash, and on each and everyone of them the efficiency is between 10% & 20%

This is on 100K+ Accepted shares per miner, so should be statistically valid

I am not complaining or anything since my stales are on avg below 0.4%, just wondering if someone can explain the reasons why the efficiency is so different for different users

Brat

Why do you have 9 miners of 200 to 350 MH ea?  Do you have 9 rigs w/ 1 GPU each?

Low efficiency simply means you are requesting more work then you complete.  In case of 10% you are requesting 10 work units and only completing one.

Yes unfortunately I do, I have 9 rigs, 2 with 2 GPU's and the rest with only 1.

I know what efficiency means, was just wondering why it is so different for different people.
I have no idea what influences efficiency

Using mainly 5800's 2 6950's

I am using default settings, no overclocking, intensity 8

I am not worried about the Performance, was just wondering about the low efficiency

i have BTCGuild as the main pool and Deepbit as the backup pool, NO merged mining there

Q: 910936 A:107987 R:109 E:12%

That's on 280 MHash

That is the efficiency on all of my miners

In the end I get the expected Accepted shares and a stale ratio of under 0.4% on avg so I'm a happy camper  Grin

Looks like the pool is down, haven't been able to connect for over 20 mins on none of my miners.....

Pool is back up !

Installing the application as we speak

Hall of Fame is BTC only.

Eleuthria, i don't want to question your wisdom (since you programmed the Hall of Fame), but are you sure it only displays BTC Blocks found ?

It seems the pool has been running way luckier than it should if that is the case....

For example, I (UserID 42927) submitted 1,861,100 shares and found 8 blocks (should be almost 2)
The User that submitted the most shares: 119,361,416 found 258 blocks (should be just over 100)

and that goes for all the users, we are all much luckier than we should be  Grin

Don't hold your breath expecting Eleuthria to enable merged mining for I0Coin:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=49417.msg651872#msg651872

"I do not have any plans to support I0C merged mining.  The fact that anybody has the slightest interest in I0C at this point is baffling.  It's got nothing to offer.  The only reason I implemented NMC merged mining was that NMC serves a purpose outside of being traded for BTC (even if most people don't utilize that purpose).  Nothing like that can be said of any other altcoin.  Piggybacking chains onto BTC when they are technically a competing chain is just stupid."

He can always change his mind though....  Wink

Merged mining will be an option in about 9 hours,

But who will offer it ? That is the question of the day Wink

What ? NO Namecoin adress ? Too bad then  Wink

Try downgrading the AMD drivers.... that helps sometimes
834  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1100 GH] BTC Guild - Pure PPS Merged Mining, LP, SSL, Instant Payout on: December 16, 2011, 12:18:03 AM
Will there be a merged-mining option for I0Coin when it hits block 160K?

That would put the entire chain in the hands of BTCGuild.... wouldn't trust it with anyone else !!!  Wink

Block 154.746

Difficulty: 602.628

More likely a screwup with blockexplorer, happened earlier this week as well
837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: December 13, 2011, 07:15:22 PM
Question is, what will halving the reward do for I0Coin and for Bitcoin

In bitcoins case, mining will instantly become really unprofitable, will the relative scarcity drive up the price, will the network come to a screeching halt because miners turn off their rigs, halving difficulty

Most likely a combination of all of the above, exciting to see how Bitcoin and I0Coin will react to the first real change after the introduction of GPU mining

Maybe if you create a .bat file with all the options you want in it

Whenever you want to start cgminer, just execute the .bat

Works for me, although I don't use the gpu -vddc

(and you don't have to start cgminer from a terminal window, but straight from your desktop)

Brat
Okay, I am noob at coding in general, I have created a couple of bat files in the past but only by following instructions is it possible you can help me to create such a bat file?

open up notepad

"C:\\place where your cgminer directory is located\cgminer.exe" - o http://pool:8332 -u user -p password and then all the backup pools/options you want to use

Name the file smtg.bat and save it not as a text file but filetype other

That should do the trick

Good luck  Wink

Thank you very much that did the trick Cheesy

GREAT !!!

"C:\\place where your cgminer directory is located\cgminer.exe"

Since you need to be extra-clear with noobs and I don't know whether this will work: why are there two "\" after "C:"?

Oooops, thanks for pointing that out !!!  Grin
