It was always my understanding that they would auction off X-GH/s devices, not X-MH/s devices.... The usb device was made for internal testing-use, they will sell them, but their focus will be on bigger/faster devices, I believe

I used bitstamp to withdraw several times before and was quite happy and recommended it to others
BUT in light of the last few days how are things going? are people still able to withdraw? they havent done a runner or anything?
I received a SEPA withdrawal yesterday from April 8th.... still waiting on a wire transfer to be processed (from April 10)

Turns out bitbet.us may actually be in the wrong here! My Little Single is getting 29.4 Gh/s with a firmware update. In their defense, the bet could be argued to require +/- 10% as delivered (eg, disqualifying firmware updates), but if this performance issue had merely been my software, they'd have defrauded people... I think you are over complicating it..... The bet has got nothing to do with performance as BFL themselves say on their website that their asic devices are in the final production stage and that delivery is scheduled to start in the second half of April..... So there has been no delivery of asic devices by BFL yet.... Not to you and not to anyone else.... So the answer to that particular bet is NO

The worst thing you can do is shut down the markets.... People need to know they can always get out, else it becomes as worthless as fiat in Cyprus....
Capital controls on Bitcoin.... who needs the feds when you have these exchanges !!!

I'd like to use this opportunity to ask a question that bothered me for a few days now: I read only good things about bitstamp, and was pretty determined to sign up with them and start trading there. But then I looked at their 'about' page, noticed they're a company based in Slovenia (so far, no problem), using a bank account at a Slovenian bank for fiat transfers. Here's the problem. Slovenian banks are under some stress, as a result of the Europe-wide banking crisis. Maybe not as bad as, say, banks in Cyprus, but probably not risk free like most banks in, say, Germany or France either. Here's the OECD report talking about the Slovenian banking problems: http://www.oecd.org/eco/surveys/slovenia-2013.htmWhat I'm wondering obviously is, how safe is my money at the bank that bitstamp uses? What's the point of trading bitcoins if I am at risk of losing my fiat funds when the associated bank goes bancrupt. You are absolutely right, so my advice: don't hold too much fiat and a lot of Bitcoin

TOKYO - JAPAN - April 11, 2013 Hi everyone, just a quick update on the situation and what happened last night. First of all we would like to reassure you but no we were not last night victim of a DDoS but instead victim of our own success! Indeed the rather astonishing amount of new account opened in the last few days added to the existing one plus the number of trade made a huge impact on the overall system that started to lag. As expected in such situation people started to panic, started to sell Bitcoin in mass (Panic Sale) resulting in an increase of trade that ultimately froze the trade engine! To give you an idea of how impressive things were here are some numbers that we would love to share with you guys: - The number of trades executed tripled in the last 24hrs. - The number of new account opened went from 60k for March alone to 75k new account created for the first few days of April! We now have roughly 20,000 new accounts created each day. Due to these facts we have been busy working on improving things since last week and our team has been working around the clock to improve Mt.Gox to catch up with the demand. We will continue to release several updates today and in the coming few days to improve our system overall performance. Also please note that we may have to close the exchange for two hours in the next 12 to 24hrs to add several new servers to our system. Thank you for your understanding and continuous support! Regards Mt.Gox Co. Ltd Team. Mt.Gox Contact press@mtgox.comThey will prolly go down for a few hours to add extra servers within the next 24 hrs Never ceases to amaze me what bad readers some people are

Dear ShadowOfHarbringer,
Usually I don't respond to unfriendly posts, but maybe this one needs a bit of addressing. We've had the honor of having Sonny in our corporation for the past year. He is a bright and honorable person who had come face to face with strong forces behind the scenes without knowing. Many movies have been made to try and demonstrate how governments and lobbying powers operate. They can kill, sabotage, prosecute or pretty much do anything they desire without consequences as they have the power, money and weapons to make their point.
The United States Government does not recognize international bounderies when it comes to its interests and demands. The attack on the PirateBay servers in Sweden is a good instance. Should the owners of PirateBay been Americans, I'm sure they'd already been serving for life in some prison in USA, under charges of money-laundry, tax evasion (ads on the site), child pornography and so on and so forth. It's easy to hurt people who are powerless. Even in France this may happen, eventhough on a much smaller scale ( I can't recall any at this point ).
Regarding whether we are a scam or not, the several thousand shipped units can speak for itself. We've used the experience gained in mass production of our singles in our SC production cycle (we've got a MyData Pick-And-Place and an Oven for high-speed and high-volume inhouse assembly). Someone mentioned the backlog is already 5,000. On a production speed of 500 units a day for instance, 5,000 will only take 10 days. We've already prepared the infratructue for very high volume production, since the great portion of the orders will come in after the SC is released to the public. 5,000 units is not much compared to orders we expect to receive after SC release, so we're very ready for it.
I hope this message has addressed some of your questions.
Regards, Nasser
This does help, thanks you Nasser, for helping calm the FUD. Very good to hear.... everything is in place....except for a working product

Don't know if this is the right section, but I just asked Bloomberg support for a Bitcoin/USD ticker symbol.... Apparently they have had more requests for it and are looking into supporting it:
Me: Good afternoon,
With Bitcoin being in the news and a lot of traders watching it (has been featured on BBG TV), is there any chance Bloomberg will make a Bitcoin/Usd ticker?
BBG Help: at this time, we do not have bitcoin on Bloomberg - however, we are tracking interest in this for our business managers and I will add you to a request to get bitcoin pricing on Bloomberg. Just so I can provide some more information on why clients are interested in it, can you clarify why you're looking at it, what exactly you would most like to see/do on Bloomberg with it, etc.?
Me: Thanks, I like to be able to get price history, graphing capabilities, some technical analysis and be able to follow headlines on Bitcoin. It is an interesting currency concept which is gaining traction. It is an interesting currency concept which is gaining traction. Hopefully we will be able to trade it in a professional manner soon
BBG Help: Great, we will add your inquiry to the request so you will be notified should it be implemented.

OgNasty, There are rumors that ASICMINING will be auctioning some of their rigs and shipping them immediately. As far as I'm concerned that would be a great opportunity to acquire some non-BFL ASIC's. What do you think? I haven't looked into the power usage of ASICMINING equipment vs. BFL, but if it's competitive I don't see why we couldn't place a bid. Competitive or not, ASICminer has a product, BFL doesn't, so ASICminer = good, BFL = not good Anyway, there's nothing to compare to as BFL doesn't have power usage for their models yet...
