Having problems getting this to work on Ubuntu 14.04. Trying to install this from source on Ubuntu 14.04. When I ran make, it gave the error that Boost 1.54 is unsupported. I searched for earlier versions of Boost but couldn't find any.
Anyone know how to fix this?
get boost1.55 or use the starter pack located on monero.cc Thanks. At first I tried the starter pack and ran the script, but had many errors. I don't feel confident on any exchange with my coins, but until i can test more the actual wallet i was considering to leave half of the coins on poloniex.
But they have this message? What the hell does this mean?
[MRO] Monero 0.00000000 On orders: 0.0 Deposit: You MUST send your deposit using the Payment ID below, or it will not be credited. Amount: TX Fee: 0.01 MRO Total: 0 MRO Address: Withdraw MRO Deposit address: 4WhateverWhateverWhateverB Payment ID: 9WhateverWhateverWhatever Generate New MRO Payment ID
To send using a Payment ID, include the Payment ID after a regular transfer command: transfer 0 <Deposit Address> <amount> <Payment ID>
I can use that syntax if i am trying to transfer from my local wallet into poloniex, but if i am sending from cryptonote exchange into poloniex, should i just use the Deposit Address??
Thanks,
You can't send from another exchange. You need the transaction ID to deposit. So, if my wallet address is 1234xxxxxxx how can i transfer my money to my wallt from cryptonote and how can i transfer monero to poloniex? do i have to go first to my own wallet? Thanks Yes.

Smooth, Lucas said he fixed the compiling issues with node-multi-hashing so give it another try.
I started with a clean new Ubuntu 13.10 install and followed the directions very carefully, with the same result: npm http 404 https://registry.npmjs.org/multi-hashing/0.0.8 npm ERR! Something does not appear to be working on Ubuntu 13.10. What OS are other people using? I have it working on 13.10. I had problems when I installed node.js using "sudo apt-get install nodejs" So I tried building from source: sudo apt-get install python g++ make checkinstall fakeroot src=$(mktemp -d) && cd $src wget -N http://nodejs.org/dist/node-latest.tar.gztar xzvf node-latest.tar.gz && cd node-v* ./configure sudo fakeroot checkinstall -y --install=no --pkgversion $(echo $(pwd) | sed -n -re's/.+node-v(.+)$/\1/p') make -j$(($(nproc)+1)) install sudo dpkg -i node_* And it worked after that. The github instructions for Debian/LMDE work for Ubuntu 13.10. I just tried it on another 13.10 and it worked building from source. Here is the result after running node init.js to start pool: 2014-05-13 17:27:03 [Master] [Pool Spawner] Spawned pool on 1 thread(s) 2014-05-13 17:27:03 [Pool] (Thread 1) [Job Refresher] Found new block at height 38161 w/ difficulty of 12035864 2014-05-13 17:27:03 [Pool] (Thread 1) [Server] Started server listening on port 5555

Can i send a payment using MSWindows without having to type the recipient's address letter-by-letter? 'Cause no copy-paste works inside the cmd wallet window.
any help would be appreciated!
Click the black cmd icon top left on cmd window. goto properties and check quick edit mode and insert. Copy wallet address and then click right mouse button to paste into command window.

there is now yet no pools?
Pools are in development with great progress. Soon.
|
|
|
Yes the code is there to submit blocks when found although I haven't been able to test it. Assuming the documentation on bytecoin wiki is correct blocks should be submitted to daemon correctly.
I'm still developing payment processing so I'll have to setup a testnet of sorts somehow to test it all out.
Thanks. I'm running the pool as is already but with little hashrate. Miners show shares submitted successfully, Pool shows shares accepted. No errors. Guess will have to find block to know everything works for sure. Great work so far. Looking forward to what is still to come.

Bitmonero and Monero are the same thing then? TFT is clearly not on board. He ignores any questions about Monero.
There is one and only one coin, formerly called Bitmonero, now called Monero. There was a community vote in favor (despite likely ballot stuffing against). All of the major stakeholders at the time agreed with the rename, including TFT. The code base is still called bitmonero. There is no reason to rename it, though we certainly could have if we really wanted to. TFT said he he is sentimental about the Bitmonero name, which I can understand, so I don't think there is any malice or harm in him continuing to use it. He just posted the nice hash rate chart on here using the old name. Obviously he understands that they are one and the same coin. Would it not suppress confusion if the Monero code base was renamed Monero? I'n not involved in politics behind things but have some understanding. People without any knowledge will just be confused. Now there are too many threads. Is it Bitmonero or Monero? People say Monero but all code uses Bitmonero. Many people confused. It's bad for Monero. I think it's problem.

zone117x,
Regarding the current state of pool code. What happens if a block is solved? Will that be saved to the pool wallet? I was assuming that the payment processing was still under development but that solved blocks would be on pool wallet. Is that incorrect?

|

So when using simpleminer is this correct command?
./simpleminer --pool-addr=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxx:5555 --login=wallet_address --pass !
And if my pool solves block will that go directly into pool wallet for now?
I don't think the pool submits blocks correctly atm. Password can be anything. I'm using pool wallet address.

Out of the Cryptonote coins, I'm inclined to go with BCN, because no one cares about premine outside of miners. .
No one cares? What if a few people own most of the worlds total wealth? We will be their puppets, so what? No one cares It's inconsequential as far as adoption goes. If BCN had a top notch developer, and Monero had a mediocre one, BCN's distribution wouldn't stop it from dominating. That being said, I don't know much about the developers involved in either project. I know nothing of BCN developers either. I do know of advancements made by Monero devs. There is now first Cryptonote Coin exchange. Open source pool is working and final touches completed soon. BCN around for long time and nothing moves forward. Just closed source pool with 10% fee.

Ring signatures are going to be implemented in V2. I will begin development immediately after I opensource V1.
How do we compete against clones? Can they clone me? I work on this full time. In fact, I've only been at it four months. So far I've implemented DarkSend + X11 + DGW + Masternode payments. Plus, I've agreed to work on this project till at least Jan 2016 full time. So who on earth would invest in a clone?
Hi Evan, nice to see you come up for air, LOL Ring Signatures too? Dark is/will be the ultimate anonymous coin then..Ring Sigs plus Masternodes, that's perfect anonymity... Ring Signatures is good decision. Monero uses cryptonote protocol which implements ring signature technology for untraceable payments. It's a much simpler solution to anonymity. I hold both coins so I want to see both succeed.

Seems like there's 3 coins using the exact same technology. Still uncertain which of these, if any will succeed. Out of the Cryptonote coins, I'm inclined to go with BCN, because no one cares about premine outside of miners. The coin that will win is the one with the best devs, that's all. I do think that DRK will win the anonymity battle. It has the momentum. Regardless of what technology another coin has, once DRK is established as the anonymous coin, it won't really matter.
People care about BCN ninja mine. That's why Monero has surpassed BCN in hashrate in just couple weeks. Monero devs are as good as any if not better. DRK is lots hype. Coin is one large complicated environment. What happen when masternodes start get hacked because all these people without any knowlege are setting them up. Then maybe government setup masternodes and control majority. Things to think about.

https://github.com/zone117x/node-cryptonote-poolStuff that is working: - Share validation
- Node.js clustering for pool performance
- Variable difficulty
- Long polling
- Configurable pool difficulty and vardiff
- Detailed logging with configurable log levels (debug, warn, error) and colorful log styling
- Storing shares in redis per miner
- Storing hashrate data
- Submitting and recording solved blocks
- Misc. configurable options: worker timeouts, block polling interval, pool threads
- Documentation (installation and usage instructions)
Stuff that is left: - Payment processor (checks for confirmed blocks then payouts according to shares)
- AJAX/REST API to display stats (hashrates, payouts, coin network info, etc)
- Light-weight front-end which uses API to display stats
The stuff left are the easy parts. ETA for all of the above is 24-48 hours of this point. Feel free to test it out: https://github.com/zone117x/node-cryptonote-pool#usage It seems to be working. Good luck catching up As long as they're using their broken version of coinjoin no one should bother with drk anyway DarkCoin was first coin I ever mined. I got some of the easy coins in the first few days and made profit. I think the implementation darksend is too complicated. Many people without any knowledge setting up masternodes. Potential for many things to go wrong. Worse yet, the government will set up all the masternodes. There is no practical advantage over Bitcoin mixing services, and Bitcoin already has stealth addressing too. So the advantage of drk is what? Yeah, instamining - cause still no pools - and talking bad about other devs. Great style taco Where you read anyone talking bad about other dev? Looks like just scrutinizing inferior coin to me. And drk was instamined. First day difficulty issue allowed tens of thousands coins.
