781  Bitcoin / Legal / MAX KEISER please please please CORRECT your mistake re: confiscation on: April 17, 2013, 04:31:15 PM

Is anybody else really disturbed by these recent quotes from our favorite mad economics reporter?

He says bitcoins "can't be confiscated".  WTF??

e.g.:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_t39jCXXIrY#t=312s

As it stands this is a large hanging bad omen on the community and seemingly an open invitation to rob Max for everything he's got.  I sure hope that doesn't happen, so please Max --  give the public some clarification on this issue?  Perhaps you mean to say it is more difficult to confiscate bitcoins than some other assets if the holder of the bitcoins has made certain precautions?

782  Economy / Economics / Re: What keeps the price down? on: April 17, 2013, 12:13:14 PM
me.  Cheesy

Thank you sir.  And to all the rest of the Surge Protection Team.

Please, keep the price down as low and as long as possible.

In my opinion you deserve more reward for these ballsy actions than the thousands of coins you have made.

If race exists, show me the genetic marker that divides white people and black people. Show me the gene that makes you asian or arab.

Valiant troll fighting   +1

It appears this is a thread for worthless shitbags to demonstrate to the bitcoin world just how truly unhappy and devoid of intelligence they are.  I really feel sorry for you would-be "racists".  It must suck to have such a loveless upbringing, and then to be completely devoid of mental capacity on top of that.

786  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Germans rule the world = Deutschland über alles! on: April 14, 2013, 06:57:21 AM
I believe Germany is poised to become the superpower of the world once again. In my understanding they are second only to the U.S. in bitcoin ownership currently, and their usage is growing faster. Unlike the Americans of today, the Germans are thrifty people. The bitcoin street price is higher in Germany than in the U.S., which is an indication that bitcoins are flowing to the country. Ich denke daß ich bald mal beachten müssen werde, deutsch zu lernen. Correct me if I am wrong!

Ich glaube wir sprechen schon ein Germanishce Sprache:

BTW wtf exactly is "Germany" and who exactly are "Americans of today"?  Your 19th century language confuses me.  Get with the program and avoid ambiguous nationalistic jingoism.

three powers oppose the Zionists:

Iran
Hezbollah
HAMAS

they already blew up whole bunches of IDF battle tanks. Good luck for the future too!

Some also say Zionism is also opposed by the majority of Judaism.

788  Economy / Speculation / Re: "There can be only 21,000,000 bitcoins" is myth => How to secure the blockchain? on: April 13, 2013, 10:18:06 PM
And here I don't understand at all what you are talking about.

We need a plan to secure the blockchain. Miners won't do it when we switch to fees instead of subsidy, they'll just jump to other altcoin. That's what I'm talking about.

They will jump to another altcoin if

 value ( Fees_altcoin + Reward_altcoin ) > value ( Fees_bitcoin + Reward_bitcoin )

at what block do you expect

value (Fees_bitcoin) > value (Reward_bitcoin) ?

I didn't watch the video, but the answer is clear:

because they give some of it to us.

790  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Ripple: A Distributed Exchange for Bitcoin on: April 13, 2013, 09:58:03 PM

Why do I see so many calls for implementing distributed Bitcoin exchanges or putting up more robust/centralized Bitcoin exchanges when we will soon have Ripple, which perfectly provides distributed order books?

That's a pretty easy question.

Because nobody trusts "opencoin" at all now after what looks like such a clear commitment to their short-term-control wealth over any benefits the original ripple ideas may have had to offer them.  Imagine if Satoshi said in 2009 he would keep 11m coins for his company and open up the door to later coinbase creations, and that open source code would come "eventually"?

794  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BlockchainLess transactions on: March 26, 2013, 10:31:00 AM
It sounds like a good idea.  Where is somebody that's going to explain why it's not feasible, practical, safe, whatever?

Yeah, why has BitPay not offered this as an option or another company stepped up to implement Gavin's really nice idea?  Maybe because we don't have the TX volume or 0-confirmation double-spend volume to require it yet.

795  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Decentralised crime fighting using private set intersection protocols on: March 26, 2013, 10:29:38 AM
Thanks for sharing thought process with us.

However this is not the way to go about fighting crime, whatever that might mean to you.  No matter how fancy your money is, if people are mentally ill, children abused, adults sexually repressed, people put into top-heavy power roles with no checks, facism not avoided, mental illnesses allowed to spread from generation to generation, and inefficient and short-sited resource division is continued, we all know what the result will be.  More crime.  Freezing peoples money isn't going to do shit apart from getting the people who control the freezing to be tempted to join the corruption.

TL/DR:  Regulatory Capture.

The people who run the blacklists WILL become the people doing whatever it is you are trying to stop.

797  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Will the blockchain transform into an inter-cluster-settlement system? on: March 26, 2013, 09:28:08 AM

Congratulations you have just eroded the bitcoin system and established the old banking system again. Cluster = bank. Inter-cluster settlements = inter-bank settlements (aka Target2)   Sad

Not quite.  These "clusters" or third party payment system overlay providers still can't create an infinite amount of coins.  Further, we could check to block chain to see how much they are holding.  But yeah, just because there are bitcoins out there doesn't mean people are going to instantly be cured of their mental illnesses.

798  Economy / Economics / Re: Is regulations good for bitcoin? on: March 25, 2013, 09:27:37 AM
I know what you all gonna say but :
Goverment doesn regulate bitcoins but market manipulators do. Does it make sense?

you mean ARE regulations good for bitcoin?  And of course, we are not mind readers so we cannot answer.  What kind of regulations are you referring to?  The ones that require newly mined blocks to conform?  Yes, those are good for regulations.

799  Economy / Economics / Re: Why does inflation happen? on: March 25, 2013, 09:24:46 AM
Also, keep in mind that the term "inflation" is ambiguous.

In economics, it means an increase in the money supply, which may or may not result in rising prices (as we have seen).

In common usage, it means rising prices, which may or may not be caused by an increase in the money supply.

+1     I know it's annoying but you are going to need to repeat this again and again for us.
