I have been to official site.
Why we have to repeat you simple things? There is no official site.
No, it's not a fantasy. 64-bit is 2^64 and that is not a strong enough number in 2014 against brute force -- especially where off line attacks is possible (like wifi password or truecrypt container).  64-bit is good for online accounts (like gmail) where brute force is detectable.
Sorry, you provided no math, only fantasies.
862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 27, 2014, 10:29:40 PM
but i see no NXT code anywhere
Then what do you mean by NXT code?

Code:
public class Nxt
  extends HttpServlet
{...
863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 27, 2014, 10:14:32 PM
Forgers — only part of Nxt. System'd not be changed to their (us) benefits only. If users (senders) will go away, there'll be no fees for you to collect (and your NXTs lose many aspects of value very possible as well). So forgers for sure'd speak, but'd listen too.
Every NXTer can forge, we all are forges, there is no "part" here. And if there is no forger, then there is no confirmed transaction.
as 1 million of 10 NXTs-wealthed persons, no matter what.
Oh, it does matter, because we cannot have a proof that they are really 1 million.
864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT Coin Security on: January 27, 2014, 10:03:58 PM
It''s irrelevant whether algorithm is DES or BBC or NBC or ZZZ ... the attack is brute force.
Thank you for your competent opinion.
865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT Coin Security on: January 27, 2014, 09:59:23 PM
How is weak security a "feature"?
It is made on purpose.
Please explain this to me: If someone has never used their account to send transaction, the atttacker needs to brute only first 64-bit to take over that account.
True.
If the account has been used to send a transaction, then all 256-bit are required to take over the  account.
True.
Is that true? Am I missing something?
True. Nothing.
If yes, please update the site with a fair warning that  new accounts must send at least one  transaction.
What site? NXT is decentralized, there is no official site for it.
I did not know this before reading this thread.
It is good habit to read before asking.
Someone might just invest a few thousand dollars, never send a transactions, and that account then is open to brute forcing 64-bit
Right.
the attacker only needs to brute force first 64-bit of SHA 2 hash.
Have you any math for how fast it can be done? Or are your words a fantasy?
This is not good for Nxt if there is a large scale successful attack that successfully starts  stealing from unused accounts with money in it.
Have anybody stealed 100'000NXT from account №100000? Why not?
BTW, have you studied how many such 64bit protected accounts are now in blockchain? (hint - somebody already did this work for you).
and kill the project.
Cry, little girl, cry.
866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT Coin Security on: January 27, 2014, 09:37:36 PM
Break DES in less than a single day
Is there any DES in NXT? Or do you think that all 64bit crypto are the same?
867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 27, 2014, 09:25:05 PM
But non-commercial statement.
How it is non-commercial if we are getting fees - our profit? Huh
I agree with cheating possibility on any imaginable voting system.
Wrong. If "1NXT=1Vote" system is cheatable, then our PoS NXT system is insecure.  Tongue
868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 27, 2014, 09:17:43 PM
can someone help me with decompiling?  I unzipped the .jar and see lots of class files there but decompiling them gives no nxt source code.
What decompiler are you using? http://jd.benow.ca/ works for me.
869  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 27, 2014, 09:10:39 PM
Wrong. It wasn't an IPO
Disagree. For me it was pure investment, buying a share in NXT system. Cool
Any weight in voting can be gamed. Tongue

I will tell you the private key immediately.
Does "immediately" mean more than 24h?  Huh
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT Coin Security on: January 27, 2014, 08:42:53 PM
If true, that would be serious security hole. 64-bit is nothing.
It is true and it is not bug. It is feature. You are welcome to open account №100000  with 100'000NXT onboard for a week Wink

Because he can.

Embarrassed

880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 27, 2014, 11:07:12 AM

It could be made so that an account that has a transaction in the current block is disallowed to forge the current block -- if the account forges the block and has one or more transactions contained in it, the block will just be rejected by the peers and the next account in line gets the opportunity to forge.

I had thought about that also and then decided I didnt like it - I dont like the idea of preventing transactions at all.  Some things are just going to be mission-critical and the idea that you can be blocked out would be bad for NXT as a currency.  I say just let the transaction go, but you still pay the fee.  The fee just gets distributed according to some algorithm that uses accounts that paid fees from the past few blocks as candidates to receive the fee.  It would be a cool random way to receive NXT that also rewards people who sent transactions.

So maybe if you wanted to send a transaction in your own block and you set a fee of 1 NXT you would be allowed to do this - you would just also be forced to also include a sendMoney transaction in the amount of that fee (in this case 1 NXT) to an account that sometime in the past 100 blocks paid a fee for something (if it paid a fee then the passphrase for that account is known) to send a transaction.  It could not be arbitrary - it would have to have some set algorithm that would be followed to choose that account - that way it could be enforced.

With transparent forging, lets face it, many people are going to get free transactions.  A block forger could even choose to not send ANY transactions except its own, a block chock full of only his own transactions, and do so for free while ignoring everyone elses transactions...[/i]  Do we want this behavior?  May be a good idea for us to discuss this more.

And actually, I think similar logic could be used for a fair voting system.... let me think on that a bit.
I guess all such tweaks are incompatible with TF Sad

BTW, "fee voters" are forgetting that in some way or another all NXTers have already paid fees when they obtained their NXT.  Roll Eyes
