261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com/pay-here — Guldenwallet for iOS Pre-Release on: September 16, 2014, 01:00:41 PM
I agree the multipools are not in the best interests of Guldencoin. These pools have miners whose solely goal is trading the coin, if needed with big pump and dumps.
They do not give a sh.. about the future of Guldencoin. They rip it, take their profits and after it breaks down they move on to the next coin.

The goal of Guldencoin is to be(come) an accepted currency used in real-life payments. These multi-pools are a big threat to that goal.
You should not be afraid to block them. If they want to bring on a fight, the community is strong enough to win that fight. If you block them, they can only dump coins once, instead of day by day.

From peoples guesses we have 15-30 hours to make decisions before next block is resolved.

Hit these people in their wallets and they will surely fight back. Don't forget that.

Better fight for the community other then the people who's pockets get filled behind all peoples back..

What about only letting in the IPs from our current pools in the OP list instead of trying to block IPs until they update the coin with the new changes? Do pools only use 1 IP address?

Are you going to add new features to the coin? Or you bank on merchant acceptance only?

Here is a timeline the community keeps up to date with everything that has happened so far for the coin.

If anyone is interested in buying some NLG with LTC, let me know.  I'd like to diversify a little more, and I don't want to drop the prices on the exchanges and deal with the trading fees.

Possibly interested in trading 100k-150k if the price is right.  PM me if you're interested.

-Fuse

If only I had LTC I would def buy from you.
266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: iOS wallet released soon Guldencoin (NLG) on: September 11, 2014, 01:07:04 PM

I believe you are looking at it without emotion. Smiley . The name will interest a lot of Dutch people that aren't currently cared about Cryptos and will inspire them to find out more, but I believe Guldencoin will spread to Belgium and other countries in Europe.  Just to add , iOS is available for testing, something litecoin hasn't even launched yet.

Thank you, I am Smiley

This might get them interested and some might even initially buy this, but in the final equilibrium it won't plat any role just because of a name and association with a former commodity based currency and fiat currency by the same name.

It all depends on adoption, if NLG creates a hub of merchants in confined areas that aren't accepting bitcoin it will create mass awareness for the coin in those areas. I am talking about offline merchants now. It's the other coins that I believe you are correct in your statements, where they are competing globally against bitcoin which I don't believe they can.

Guldencoin has one of the best chances of long term success against any altcoin imo.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: iOS wallet released soon Guldencoin (NLG) on: September 11, 2014, 12:57:10 PM
Thanks for you (well-intended) clarifications Smiley.

You have not changed my initial opinion (It's a LTC clone with a different name and no added value) but at least you tried and the tone stayed mostly civil. Now everyone reading this can form their own opinion.

Cool. You're still approaching it from a tech-point of view. Which is one way to go, but there's more to it. Not to say that Guldencoin doesn't add new tech and dev to the cryptoworld. Where the core of the coin might not be innovating, the tools it provides over time are Wink

Cool though, hope to see you become a supporter like a lot of other skeptics have over time.

I decided to explain myself a little better. This is not to start a flame war of any kind so fans of this particular altcoin who aren't interested, don't waste your time in reading this.

I think I can make it most clear by responding to this (from the article you linked).

Quote

This claims there aren't enough Bitcoins to go around globally. This is just silly since the allocation of fundamental units (known as Satoshis) to represent a Bitcoin is completely arbitrary and sufficient fundamental units likely exist (and if not the fundamental units will be split).

Then the quote claims the market cap of Bitcoin is insufficient for world wide trade and that the price of Bitcoin can not increase indefinitely (implying it will not increase sufficiently). The answer to that is very simple: if you think Guldencoin fixes this then sufficient value must be allocated to it's market cat. That same value (and the value of all other local coins you predict) could simply be added to Bitcoin to achieve the exact same effect. So either there is sufficient growth to achieve a sufficiently large market cap, or there is not. The existence of local coins do not change this.

Overall, I don't see any value in locally applied crypto currencies. Sending a Bitcoin to someone can be done just as fast to someone in the Netherlands as to someone in Melbourne. In fact, you won't even know where the individual or individuals controlling the private key reside. Therefore there is no added value in creating a crypto specifically for a certain region. In fact, you cannot even control it. Why would someone in Australia NOT use GuldenCoin why someone in the Netherlands would (the name? really?).

Unless you can come up with a true differentiator for requirements of a crypto in a specific region (Swiss people want anonymous features, Americans want identity tagged addresses and the Argentinians want extremely high levels of inflation) one global crypto is going to win the vast majority of all traffic while the second place is there because of some useful (not geographically related) variation on the original concept.

Bitcoin has had a lot of bad publicity with GOX and as a result certain individuals will be ready to keep dumping the price down. Touch wood Guldencoin won't have such problems even though I expect an exchange one day will steal coins.

Dev Update:

Android wallet has been updated again and in the play store.

New security checkpoints added.

This was done as the number of users using smartphones have been increasing by the week and will be done once a month going forward so new users don't have to wait for long sync times.

For those that weren't around over the weekend the following updates have occurred.

1. New Block Explorer built from scratch by one of our Devs. It is currently in Beta, please have a look at let us know what features you would like to see added.

https://explorer.guldencoin.com
https://forum.guldencoin.com/index.php?topic=496.0  --> For more info from Geert himself.

2. Forums have been moved behind cloudflare with the increased DDOS attacks we been having. We also took the time to update the look of the forums. (Ticker will be put back soon)
https://forum.guldencoin.com

3. As mentioned above , new Android Wallet, checkpoints to be added monthly.

Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the above.

Keep up the great work! I almost missed this one.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com/pay-here — Guldenwallet for iOS coming soon on: September 06, 2014, 06:33:01 PM
I warned people the rise of the coin was not healthy but people got caught up in the moment. Up to 600 sat was real demand for the coin... that was already 900% increase from when the rise started at 70 Sat odd.
Going to 1907 was overkill and PnDs got involved.

The coin is GOING TO GO BELOW 800 again, so wait until around 650 level before buying in. That is the best price for guldencoin right now!

Yeah I agree, also, don't base an opinion on NLG solely on price. There is more to crypto and more to Guldencoin than just its monetary value. Everyone should know that by now.

Don't get disappointed when price goes to 650 level and if you purchased at 1907 satoshi, don't worry either. This coin will rise gradually when more merchants and more developments come out on a regular basis. I understand that a quick rise would indicate a quick profit for most, and if you're in it for the trading profit. Sure. Won't blame you, but there will always be something else to achieve for Guldencoin Cheesy

Also, don't forget that anyone can help out! Invite your local coffee house, burger and fries places and other stores you like to shop at in your town to accept NLG. Or just ask them if they already accept Guldencoin. It plants a little seed for when they hear more about NLG through other media Wink And as more merchants come in, it'll become easier to convince others.

Don't forget the coin rose from 70 and hit 1907 in 2 weeks, it's not going to 70 again unless some whale decides to dump out all his coins but price will quickly recover to 500+. So starting off on a new lower high of around 600 means the coin has less to travel to get back to 1907, but like litesire mentions it must be through real demand and not from Pump and dumpers.

Why this dump my friend ? Sad

Don't let the daily trades stress you out. Look at what the coin has done in 4 months and compare it to other coins above it have done, if you a day trader then I can't give advice but I know NLG will be as big as litecoin in 2 years time.

Looks like someone wants over 500k NLG at 1274. 1680 * 2 = 3360. That is the total amount of people that can ever own over 500k.lol

when is iOS released? have we beaten PnD?

Hi Mega,

PND only released Android. We will be submitting the iOS wallet to Apple around 15/16th September. That was the latest I got from the team... oh and there will be another APP, of course the main thing is Apple accepting , if they don't it doesn't matter it's not the only dev related work that is being done. Smiley

+1 on the backup tips loo.

Will we still be able to get our hands on the iOS app if apple refuses?

How many backups should I make of my Wallet and where should I keep the wallet? USB, external drive and local drive?
