821  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum - Bitcoin client for the common users (friendly and instant) on: November 21, 2012, 07:58:38 PM
experienced some connection problems (just wouldn't connect most of the time). I managed to get a tx out when it was connected (although the gui froze after hitting send, so I killed the process).

now electrum doesn't want to start any more, I think I shot the wallet?

I think there are some unexpected problems with the new (pruning) servers and old versions of the client.
I suggest you upgrade to I.5.
some problems were reported with 1.5 too, I am trying to fix them asap.

I did a git pull 2 days ago. Is "git://gitorious.org/electrum/electrum.git" correct repo?

EDIT: AAARGH, I'm still on that ancient repo on that machine ;(

git://github.com/spesmilo/electrum is correct, right?

yes. I tried to delete the gitorious repo a few times, but I got a server error (500)

Hi, I'm afraid I'm getting an incorrect global balance (0.050 while it should be 0.076) when connecting to any pruning servers. I also got the below error in the console a few times but I'm not sure if it's related to the issue:

sorry about that. I don't know what could cause it..
do you get this when you restore from seed?
does the wallet have imported keys?
824  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum for Android on: November 21, 2012, 01:20:20 PM
I just installed 1.5 and it works nicely. It even looks a bit more stable than previous versions. Did you do some fixes or it is just my feeling?

I noticed some new bugs and fixed them. maybe they were caused because Google's SL4a changed.
825  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: November 21, 2012, 12:50:21 PM
Is it possible to use Electrum behind Tor?

I just get the message "not connected" when using the following settings:

Socks4 | 127.0.0.1 | 9050

which server are you trying to reach?
recent versions of the client filter out old servers that do not use the 0.6 protocol
826  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: November 21, 2012, 07:21:28 AM
Here is version 1.5.

changelog:
* the history displayed when a wallet is restored from a pruning server has been improved : all pruned transactions are combined into one line of the history, labeled 'pruned transactions outputs'
* the network dialog indicates for each server if it is full or pruning
* it is possible to restore or create a wallet while you are offline using the gui (the command line was required before this)

827  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: November 20, 2012, 02:58:05 PM
Thomas - Electrum 1.3 is not respecting the prioritize flag, 0.61 was fine.  I've not tested the freeze feature.

can someone reproduce this?
828  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum server discussion thread on: November 20, 2012, 10:32:24 AM
we now have two pruning servers up and running:

ecdsa.org and electrum.novit.ro

if you restore your wallet from seed on one of those servers, your history will be pruned.
the 1.4 client does not display correctly the pruned history, but the version of the client in github does.
I will make a new release soon, to include this change.
829  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: SPV Electrum builds for Windows on: November 16, 2012, 02:11:43 PM
This version seems to work great and fast!

Donation sent!

BTW: I have only one server available (electrum.bysh.me). Is this normal?

thanks for the support!

New clients filter out all the old servers since the protocol has changed. For the moment there are only two servers running the new protocol:
electrum.bysh.me and ecdsa.org

Is there anyone that is working on the android client?

I run electrum on an android jb phone using just the regular .py scripts
There is no l337 UI to load it up though, just a terribly simple android scripting ui I hacked together from this example:
http://code.google.com/p/android-scripting/wiki/UiExamples

The build I use is running SEAndroid, and I'm also using PySkein to encrypt the wallet.dat and upload it to random cloud servers as a backup

that's great!
maybe you could share your code?
does it work with the latest SPV version?
831  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum stuck on synchronizing on: November 15, 2012, 09:32:21 PM
I think setting it to HTTP and selecting electrum.bysh.me as a server fixed it. Not sure if my balance is correct though.. will have to check.

Edit: Balance is definitely wrong.. It sais my first transaction of +0.20496073 was at 1970-01-01 and that this deposit brought my total balance to -0.20496073 (yes, negative) so it's no suprise my balance is off... what's going on here?

Setting it to HTTP is not what fixed it. the 1.3 clients cannot restore from seed on the new servers.
you'll need to upgrade to 1.4 as soon as the windows version is out. I released 1.4 today for that reason

for your balance, I believe it's a display bug.  restarting your client should fix it.
832  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum stuck on synchronizing on: November 15, 2012, 09:22:32 PM
It was set to TCP already

ecdsa.org is a bit experimental at the moment. did you try the other server I suggested?
833  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum stuck on synchronizing on: November 15, 2012, 09:16:08 PM
I am using flatfly's 1.3 build (electrum13-build603.exe)

The kilobytes received just went up to 3.0 though so at least something is happening.. all I know is that last week, when I restored from seed, it only took ~5sec. I just hope it works out in a little while, I'll just leave the window open and hope for the best.

Edit: How do I switch to TCP?
there's a selector in the network dialog
834  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum stuck on synchronizing on: November 15, 2012, 09:09:54 PM
Trying to restore from seed on ecdsa.org... it gets stuck just like the other 2 servers did

The window says:
Code:
Please wait...
Addresses generated: 6
Kilobytes received: 2.8

try with the newer version (1.3), and use TCP instead of HTTP
835  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum stuck on synchronizing on: November 15, 2012, 08:54:30 PM
I don't know what Electrum version flatfly uses.. the file is called "elec11-f575.exe" I got it here: http://dre.redmartian.org/elecwin.htm

There appears to be a new version (electrum13-build603.exe) which I just tried, but it's giving me the same issues.

I was using the server electrum.bitcoin.cz before this broke down but I also tried electrum.pdmc.net (can you even get a wallet via a seed using another server than the one originally picked?), didn't make a difference.

I just tried pdmc.net, it seems to have problems right now

try one of those:
 - electrum.bysh.me
 - ecdsa.org
836  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum stuck on synchronizing on: November 15, 2012, 08:33:36 PM
I can't access my Electrum wallet anymore.. anytime I start up the client it gets stuck on "Synchronizing." I already tried to create a new wallet, restored from seed, but that just get's stuck after loading the seed (it never finishes.) Deleting Electrum's data directory (in the Roaming folder) and letting the client re-create it didn't help either.

Can anyone tell me what to do to fix this, please? I'm using flatfly compact build 575 on windows 7 64bit.

what is the version you are running? (575 is not an Electrum version number)
did you try to upgrade to a recent version?

what is the server you are using?
did you try several servers?
837  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: November 15, 2012, 04:40:53 PM
Is there anyone that is working on the android client?

not me, no time atm.
The android client I wrote would probably need to be upgraded. feel free to help
838  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: November 15, 2012, 04:35:37 PM
I just released a new version (1.4)

There are no new user-visible features in this release; the point is to upgrade the communication protocol.
This upgrade is needed in order to use new servers that do not use Abe.
On a side note, the merchant.py script included in this version has been fixed and works.

839  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum server discussion thread on: November 14, 2012, 06:27:02 PM

I'll test this the moment it's out! No libbitcoin or Abe?

no libbitcoin, no abe
you can already test it, it is in the repo.

you need to 'backend=bitcoind' to your configuration file, and to update it frequently, because I am still making changes to it
840  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum server discussion thread on: November 14, 2012, 05:13:55 PM
Is the HOWTO located below still accurate?
https://gitorious.org/electrum/server/blobs/master/HOWTO

Thanks.

not really.
the best source of feedback is IRC

I have been working on a new sever backend, that uses only bitcoind and not Abe.
it is almost ready. I'll catch up with the docs after that
