1  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think the price of bitcoin will be 1 year from today (feb 2015)? on: February 08, 2014, 06:45:30 PM

Total guess here - about $2000/BTC.

I'm hoping to see some $350 coins again before May, though, then see the price shoot back up quickly around June-July.

4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: May 17, 2013, 01:37:20 AM
I don't think it should be up to the customers to sit around guessing at their delivery dates...  and I don't think "May 5st" is a valid delivery date.  =)
5  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Will Avalon Batch 3 or raw ASIC Chips ship first? on: May 10, 2013, 12:46:48 AM
It would be a travesty if chips shipped first.   That would not be a good move on their part being that Batch 3 was ordered "before" the chips.

i totally agree

how much time passed between batch 3 sales and the bulk chip sales?  In my opinion, that number is the MINIMUM amount of time that should pass after the last batch 3 unit is delivered , until the FIRST bulk chip order is delivered.   I'm guessing that's about 2.5 months.

/EDIT:   This issue is not as significant when you compare the relative processing power of batch 2 versus batch 3, and therefore batch 3 doesn't absolutely need to be delayed as much as the chips.  but the chips, when shipped, will devastate the ROI on the customers of batch 3....... there's a big difference... so let's not even start comparing the delay of batch 2 / batch 3 delivery to the delay of the bulk chip delivery.....

I'd like to see an exchange created within a native American reservation territory in the USA

7  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happens if I.... on: April 21, 2013, 08:11:37 PM
no you cant spoof it or delay it, that's all server side.   you could maybe fool yourself into thinking you're not going to pay the required amount, but you would...

but if you bought 50 btc at $118 and waited three days, and sold it at $135, yeah, that's a profit.

/EDIT:  Don't do that.  there's no way to know future price
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: SELLOFF! on: April 21, 2013, 08:05:04 PM
pork brain... mixed with small children... muhahahah !   =)   j/k
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: ddos might actually send us higher on: April 21, 2013, 08:01:09 PM
i hate to say it, but i think you could be correct.  If I had sold something for bitcoins 20 minutes ago, i might actually make a profit if i decided to convert back into fiat now  =)  that means , at least for now, I' ignoring all the drama about vendor/merchant confidence problems!!!  wooot!
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happens if I.... on: April 21, 2013, 07:56:29 PM
it took a waiting period, but yeah, i can just click 'buy' when the price is low, and it will debit my bank account after few days.  I get the coins for the price I saw on th escreen at the beginning of the process.  They provide massive stability.  =)
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happens if I.... on: April 21, 2013, 07:49:36 PM
it refreshes to match current, so do it fast or don't do it

and yes, if you have a 50btc limit and you're willing to wait 3 days or so, you can time the price with that

I love coinbase.
12  Economy / Speculation / Impressive - Merchant confidence returns! on: April 21, 2013, 07:45:45 PM
I'm impressed.  I think the armchair investors figured out the game this time and the price returned to almost exactly the previous average within ,... what... 15 minutes?   As a merchant, if you had to sell, that's not so bad!  =)
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: OKAY TIME TO SET EVERYONE STRAIGHT on: April 21, 2013, 07:01:25 PM
hahahah

14  Economy / Speculation / Re: Without mtgox the price will be under $100 within an hour on: April 21, 2013, 06:27:19 PM
probably, down to 106,   yeah.  If I was another exchange, I'd be trying to find a range from | 88 <---> 93 | .  =)  But I do strongly feel like 125 is a fair price right now, and that it should go sideways with higher volume for a week or so, if we're lucky.

15  Economy / Speculation / Re: OKAY TIME TO SET EVERYONE STRAIGHT on: April 21, 2013, 06:21:53 PM
Ashley, I've been watchin you, and like you, please don't be too cruel.  =)    And to the OP, please try not to talk about the drugs and money laundering.  Obviously, even if the activities did add value to bitcoins...  conversations and debates about contentious issues could be a big turn off to the newcomers to bitcoin, who might be on the fence about this whole BitCoin thing.  Sheeple only spend about 20 minutes researching a new topic, and I'd hope that their 20 minutes isn't spent reading a thread that tries to say the bulk of bitcoin value is an illegal activity.  =)

Don't feed the bears, man.  OR the alligators.  OR the 'war on drugs'.   =)
16  Economy / Speculation / Re: Trade to Transaction Volumes Ratio on: April 21, 2013, 05:31:48 PM
when you do, please put a bitcoin address in the report for donations. =)
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: OKAY TIME TO SET EVERYONE STRAIGHT on: April 21, 2013, 05:11:59 PM
This is obviously stupid, buuut...  There is some truth to this.  Since every trader wants a margin, it's likely that each leg of a round trip of the silk road money is actually raising the price per coins, slightly.
The more something is useful, the more it's worth, the more interested society becomes, the more money people will pay for coins..

So it's the biggest exxageration I'll see today, but it's partially true, IMO
18  Economy / Economics / Re: Your opinion of trading bots... on: April 19, 2013, 07:25:06 PM
The right bots are a very very good thing.

Please note:  DnnBitcoin went down only about a week before the pop.  There would have been a ton of coins automatically bought and sold during the pop, if there had been more botters online.  That would bring more stability, and more liquidity, smaller margins, more competition.   Hell, I'll pay somebody $500 if they fix DNNBitcoin and make it public again.  =)    It's simple - you know the market manipulators want to move that price up and down for profit... that's a hell of a lot harder and more expensive when there are thousands of small bot orders in between the MMs and their margins.  =)

19  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin's problem is the low rate of new coins on: April 19, 2013, 07:21:40 PM
The rate of new coins is a known number.   The whole world can plan and factor that into their calculations.  It's really not hard - supply versus greed, demand versus panic. Besides, it's only a few years old... improving every day...  And what have YOU done to contribute to improvements?
20  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitfloor closes down, but with no interest in making things right on: April 19, 2013, 07:14:44 PM
I gotta say, I'd ask them to cut me a check and send it in the mail, with a tracking number.
There isn't any need for them to have your bank account information, in my opinion.  People have been using paper checks for a long long time.

I'm beyond trusting people that hold my money and put hoops between me and my money.

I wonder if these people ever considered what will happen if they accidentally steal/hold the money that is being laundered by a mafia/gang smurfer. I'm not saying that you would be one of those people, buuut.... that's a genius idea... steal money from the black market users.  =)  I hope they have an updated will.  =)
