decentralized currency is surely helped by decentralized hashing  Smiley
462  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy + pre-order] Russia, Bitfury ASIC! on: June 07, 2013, 12:47:50 AM
Yeah, just because it's in Russia doesn't mean it's a scam.

Each person has to choose what proof they need to be able to send money.  Personally I would have a very difficult time sending money to someone I know nothing about, that has done nothing to prove their reputation to me, hasn't proven ability, hasn't shown prior experience...  have they even given real names?  With the way Terrahash was persecuted, I thought people would be more careful.

I hope everything works out, I would seriously be very grateful to any company that can give some hashing to the public.  If they start giving information, and it looks good, I'll add them to my list.  Please let me know:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=209750
463  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: CoinCanary.org - Mining Database - All Known Vendors and Status on: June 06, 2013, 11:48:58 PM
So the official story is (and you can see this) that for all the unknown activity in a country they put in a spike directly in the middle.  I just don't know who to trust anymore though, with all the money floating around.  This seems reasonable.. but if a person masked their IP how can you tell what country they're from?  couldn't they just reroute to another country?
Anyway I really don't know the complete story here.  I find it quite likely that the spike really is from what they say.  Then again none of Inaba's comments have made me more comfortable about things.
Everyone says to cool down they are finally starting to ship.  Oh sure, after their long testing phase?  Gonna wait to ship till they're worthless?  People bought these products because they were told they could make a certain profit from them.  They have been pushed back constantly, to the point that people who actually believe a word coming out of their mouth gives me pause.
Maybe the real question is how much of the world spikes are caused by them.
464  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Call to arms] Why don't you destroy BFL rather than QQ? on: June 06, 2013, 11:42:20 PM
Dogie,

You get what you give in this world. Whatever you focus on becomes your truth. You
seem to see evil intent in others, but your answer is to respond with evil intent. Does
that really make sense in the scheme of things?

Your words hold no value and have absolutely no chance of achieving the intended effect.

We are not Scottish. You are not William Wallace. BFL are not the English. This is not a
field of battle. Please wipe the blue and white paint off your face and go watch a Survivor
re-run.

Sincerely,

The vast majority of BFL customers

If someone was stealing from my neighbors, and the thief had convinced them to give him more, and that he was their best friend, by showing how charitable they were, even while yelling in their faces....  I would feel the need to try to wake them up, or take down the thief.  Saying that he has, "evil intent" is missing the point.  Violence is necessary.  Every time you eat you kill something.  Pretending to be above it all gets you nowhere.

It's foolish of you to go after dogie for this.  All of you.  Sure talk about his logic, discuss the holes in his plan.  When you attack him personally calling him a crybaby...  The idea is to do something for once.  How can you say this is just qq?  Going after someone?  If someone came at you and punched you in the face is that qq?

Sure there are more important issues in the world, but this is happening in our backyard.  I'm not sure that cancelling orders would do much..  The chance that they could cover every preorder if they were cancelled is very small.  Funny how the talk goes to how expensive things are sometimes, and others how they have plenty of extra money.  Oh wait, maybe they could just spend some of their mined holdings and pay everyone off..
465  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ATTN] BitSyncom: What happened to my Batch 1 order? on: June 06, 2013, 11:01:38 PM
It's for this type of thing that I just moved their shipment date back 3 months on my list.  I hope this is just incompetence in the face of great difficulty, unlike BFL.

Shipment date of what?
Chips

So .. may ended eh?
467  Other / Meta / Re: Marketplace trust on: June 06, 2013, 05:23:39 AM
People may argue that this doesn't matter, but any person scrolling through a trust list seeing a bunch of red is going to be affected.  Whether or not they trust the person who gave the feedback.
468  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty Not An Issue? on: June 06, 2013, 05:17:34 AM
I know!  I can't believe people aren't calling lawyers and knocking on doors.

People are getting after me for this map being a 'debunked conspiracy'
yeah yeah I know..  but I don't know the person that makes the map, I'd like to ask them.  There is no way to know if they've taken money either...  Like I said in another thread recently, people have been publicly compromised by money already.  Who knows how many in the background have been paid off.
469  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Total hashrate jump +20T in last week? on: June 06, 2013, 05:13:12 AM
It looks like mining Bitcoins can no longer be just a DIY hobby, heavy investments are needed in ASICs before one can have a chance to become a profitable miner nowadays.
We may get a chance soon in the next round of technology.  At the moment you need a personal connection...
470  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL creates new charity project to donate 1000 BTC to [ROFL!] on: June 06, 2013, 05:07:29 AM
I wonder if they are bothering to use old coins, or they're just throwing the new ones they made into it......
http://imageshack.us/a/img196/103/globalhashmoststablemin.png

This conspiracy was debunked a while back. Notice the spike is right in the middle of the continental United States.

Apparently, this is how the data is displayed from all aggregate unknown sources in the US. It is drawn in the middle of the country, which coincidentally just happens to be near our favorite Bitcoin related company.
Ok, I have seen that.  Are these people masking their IP address?  If not we should be able to get the region, if so we wouldn't even know what country, right?

I'm not convinced of anything anymore.  There are already people publicly compromised by money in this situation.

Don't worry, they're safe in Kansas.

474  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will the bitcoin arms-race end with ASICs? on: June 06, 2013, 04:14:30 AM
There are other types of computers (mostly theoretical atm) that can give and check all possible answers in an equation.  Surely one will come out within 10 years.  It was mentioned they would just be for scientists and military, but if someone sees the profit to make one it will happen.

I think the answer here is that there will always be encryption of some sort.  With greater computing power comes greater ability to encrypt.
475  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty Not An Issue? on: June 06, 2013, 03:50:10 AM
The big companies are not delivering to us.  There is hoarding going on.  I'm not sure what is going on with Avalon.. but BFL should be sued.  I didn't buy anything from them or I'd be the first to try to rally people..

Ever wonder where BFL offices are located?

This is a map generated from the IP addresses of miners.
476  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Low Watt Miners -GH/BTC -ROI with difficulty [Updated June 4] on: June 06, 2013, 02:58:43 AM
Would you consider breaking up the list into two parts? First section would be miners that are confirmed in production and shipping. The second section would list all the others, be they slow to produce, suspected vaporware, and so forth? Seems liek 90% of the items on your list aren't shipping, and as more companies make their own "announcements" it'll be increasingly difficult to locate the miners that are actually in existance when eyeballing the list.

Just a suggestion! Smiley
Basically there is nobody thats shipping a product and also has positive ROI.  Kinda sad.

Hi FCTaiChi

I see that you have me listed as group buy for avalon chips in your OP. However, we are now also offering a full miner assembly service base on the k16 design.

It would be nice if you could also include it in your table (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200067.0).

We offer the following:
  • k16 based design miner assembly
  • 4 layers' PCB
  • Electronic components
  • Heat Sink
  • Full assembly
  • Chips are not included

The price for the above service is 60EUR when the chips are bought using our group buy. The price of each chip is currently 0.082BTC.

If the chips are sent from another group buy the price for the miner assembly service is then 65EUR

Miner assembling  is based in Spain.

Thank you in advance.
Ok thanks

why no avalon 66GH/S or 88GH/S unit? it is cause they don't open new batchs? And we can't buy?
They are still up on the website, but it's not obvious if they actually have plans on selling more.  I have the 88 still underneath the chart..  I'll put it back in if there is more information.

You can easily rename it as "Bitmine.ch Avalon Clone" (the same asked by ImI) because they claim to be selling the very same device with just the difference that you can fit from one up to 4 blades, giving 22GHash steps each.
They also offer the "bring your own Avalon chips" service, with slightly different pricing.
Couldn't see their site, I'll try again tomorrow.

Ive just got a new quote for the pcb's
my thread has updated, please update the op here Cheesy
Done
477  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Total hashrate jump +20T in last week? on: June 05, 2013, 11:00:16 PM
They are overpriced.

Big companies are buying all the orders and the tiny trickle that gets to us will never pay itself off at current prices.  That map I posted shows an orange spike in the middle of the US where BFL is located.  Looks like a big middle finger sticking up to me.  Not even trying to hide it by having hosts.  Oh sure everyone will get their machine.  After the difficulty is so high it won't even make a return.

If bitcoin goes up in price you say, "See?  My miner made five times what it was worth in just the first year."

If you paid 49.99BTC for a 10GH ASICminer and get it at the beginning of next month you would still be at -30BTC a year from now at 18% difficulty.  It just will never make back those 49.99BTC that you originally paid.  Better to just buy/hold coins.

Now IF avalon chip shipments start coming in within a couple weeks it's possible to get ROI from those.  It's not likely though.  I'm on the cusp of pushing them back on my chart 2-3 months as it is.

Actually I'm going to do that.

Now you tell me, why would anyone buy a miner at this point?
478  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Total hashrate jump +20T in last week? on: June 05, 2013, 06:44:40 AM
Ah..  too bad really, but everything on the market is overpriced

and people are cheating...  =\

Quote
The only time it's not really a risk is if it's a successful person or company that's finished one project, delivered, and then put another up.
Like CABLEPAIR!  ...Wait...

Unless you are BFL, who previously did deliver FPGAs, and used that rep to bilk 1000s of people out of millions of dollars without any return so far aside a tiny few Jalepenos

This is the 'Most stable miner' category of the list..   http://blockchain.info/nodes-globe?series=mostStable
=\
I should just take them off my list, this is ridiculous.

-edit
Ok done.  They are off the list.  I will not support this company by sending people to them while they are so blatantly violating the trust of the community.  Can't even find cheap hosting somewhere for their scheming?

I'm pushing all the Avalon chip orders back a few months too.  I see no reason to believe that 9-10 weeks is a reasonable estimate.
