Meh. All the dial-up internet companies thought the same thing until cable/dsl shit on them. IBM thought the same thing too until HP/DELL/Gateway shit on them. Ford/Chevy thought the same thing until Honda/Toyota shit on them. Technology is an ever evolving industry. This space in particular is moving faster than anything I've ever seen. It's harder for bitcoin to innovate and cater to different markets vs a lean altcoin. A lightweight operation like Cloakcoin can develop and test brand new features that are light years ahead of bitcoin without having massive investor/developer/miner backlash.
IMO, what you'll eventually see is the emerging of cryptocurrencies that represent cash (Cloak/Mixcoin/etc) and ones that replicate credit cards/checks etc (Bitcoin/Litecoin). Both having their place in commerce and individuals who prefer one over the other. Not to mention commodity based coins which could represent entire industries. Later down the road looking at coin specific industries one might be able to tell how that market is doing giving the volume via exchanges or another metric. For someone to say "Bitcoin has won" I doubt they understand technology trends or how crypto will affect industries. We're only beginning to scratch the surface here.
Becoming a market leader requires investors who believe in the product and the vision. Some people got out of Bitcoin at $1, some at $10 and some at $100. The people who made the most money are the ones that held for the long term. Cloak's ecosystem makes you think twice about dumping at an ATH because of all the value added services we have coming down the pipeline. I really don't know how to break it down further to anyone who thinks $10 is a reasonable price for crypto with trustless anon. If you think that then you obviously haven't been in the anon space for very long. Anoncoin has been working on trustless anon for almost a year now. Darkcoin for over 8 months.. I could honestly see this coin going well beyond the $100 mark for what is being developed here. Once this ball is moving the dev team is just going to get bigger and bigger and more shit will happen alot faster. Faster than anyone can clone this.
That pretty much summarizes how I think about Crypto in general and Cloak in specific. Where not even at the internet stage. We are BBS'ing. Anybody remember Fidonet ? Cloak's roadmap is the potential killer app. Market in particular. With the supply of coins and no miners to dump on us it is up to us holders to define the value of Cloak |

I invested in Cloak because of the whitepaper on Onemarket. The whitepapers on anonymous transactions were good too but the OneMarket paper really sold me on the developers and their vision for an autonomous market layered on top of a coin network that also supported anonymous transactions.
Sorry for the rambling, I know these aren't set in stone rules that ban certian listings or anything. I just have a strong libertarian viewpoint and love the idea of the Onejury system where the users of cloak decide what's listed and don't see the need to worry about what's legal where, what regulations and sales tax and jurisdiction and..you get the idea, I just like freedom for the people to decide.

Yea I fucked myself with this coin, i panic' sold way to earlier, then somebody told me it was going to .002 so i bought in again at the worst fucking time... now Im in the hole at least 2 BTC, when I should be up around 3-4 BTC on this coin......... I am no expert investor, but if you buy for a reason like "someone told me it was going to 0.002", you probably should rethink your investment strategies. But anyway, 2 BTC is not a life changing loss. It may go up from here, it may go down, but just try to learn a lesson. I could tell you it's going back up to 0.0012, but I have no way of knowing this, so I won't say it. I hope it does, but we will see. Whenever I click "Verify APIs", the wallet crashes! Now even worse, it crashes whenever I click the tab "CloakTrade".
Any solution to this?

I think I know why this is occurring, out of curiosity do you have a firewall active or did you prevent any outgoing connections from the app? I have since fixed a crashing bug related to 'non-data' coming in from Bittrex. So this will be fixed in the next update. This can happen if a connection failed to Bittrex for example. Expect the fix to come out probably right after PoSA, but Cloaktrade does work otherwise. my computer FW is disabled but it's behind company's FW though. However, my brother is having exact same problem with PC at home with FW disabled. 1,Scan computer with your AV and online AV.2.Clean computer with Ccleaner.3.Reinstall wallet |

Was thinking about what someone on thread said about cloakcoin, taking some of BTC market money. Plus much more is coming, with onemarket and the only true anon coin, we are looking at about one third the amount of coins as BTC.
I don't think it will directly take over bitcoin at all, but it almost serves a whole new purpose or niche of the marketplace. If this is true and developers keep delivering, with only 4.5 million coins who's to say the prices couldn't be well over $100 a coin seeing there is real world use of this coin unlike so many clones of BTC, which people can just use BTC for instead. But cloakcoin is what darkcoin was supposed to be.
Just wondering what others see? Cryptos are very new still most don't know about or much about them too, we must account of that too in future value.
BTC will be coin of choice for most, but anyone wanting true anon coin will choose cloakcoin.

Only way to recover for me was: 1. Make copy of wallet.dat -DO NOT MISS THIS else coin gone 2. Get rid of the entire appdata\roaming\cloakcoin folder 3. Run the wallet 4. stop it and copy your saved wallet.dat back in 5. create a cloakcoin.conf file in the appdata\roaming\cloakcoin folder 6. add some nodes eg this is the content of my file: Get latest nodes from... http://cloak.blockexplorer.cc/nodes/7. Run the wallet again and let it sync I had to restart it a couple of times to get the sync to complete If your coins don't show (happened to me) : go to debug console and enter and run repairwallet Should be good after that Search option also helps with problems! And FU BTT with 360 seconds for Newbies! |
