61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4 Bitcoin cons to watch out for... on: March 26, 2016, 01:39:35 PM
nice to share this,we sould more carefull to choose wallet, exchange and bitcoin investement, but one that make me surprise is there writed that wallet also have potential to be scam, this is make me scary, but i dont think i will lost my trust to coinbase or blockchain.

That's the one that concerned me the most too, since theoretically it should have minimal risk (wallet customers aren't usually expecting anything unrealistic, unlike "investors"). The "scare factor" is a real bummer for any Bitcoin startup trying to get a legit wallet going.
62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4 Bitcoin cons to watch out for... on: March 25, 2016, 04:47:16 PM
I once tried a scam "investment" site for fun, knowing that they are not going to last long and operate like a Ponzi scheme. Daily interest was about 3.6%. I figured out, using the "rule of 72", that if the site survived for more than 20 days I will have my ROI.

I was luck to join early and the site did survived for more than 20 days, and I withdrew everything. So I doubled the little investment of 0.01BTC to about 0.02+BTC. About a month later, the site closed down and many investors lost their BTC.

In short, almost all BTC investment at the moment are scams- please correct me by letting me know if there is any valid investment site....

That's a really amazing outcome, 7788bitcoin, I'm most surprised that they let you withdraw. Actually, your method could be applied to any kind of trading (set % target limit, follow strict plan @ target %). Nice!

Tay the latest AI chatbot by microsoft was let lose on the net yesterday within hours she was a feminist hating, nazi loving, racist..... we the bitcoin community could have had her loving bitcoin within hours....lol  Grin

Looks like the "4chan effect" at work. Would have been sweet to see some Btc promotion though. How do you think the bot got "influenced" into saying these things?

I wish I could buy more things like the groceries I do everyday, but its that is still far away in my opinion,
I hope its just all a matter of time, the bitcoin is growing so that is a good sign.

I think some grocery stores like Whole Foods take Bitcoin via eGifter or Fold?

Here's a shot for some things:

I give up.

No one here is reading SH!T!

It's all about spammy sig lines.

SMH

Unfortunately I think you are right, this is more of a postfest vs read good content situation.
Is anyone actually clicking on the sig lines? Seems kind of like wallpaper at this point.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase? on: March 23, 2016, 01:11:05 AM
Is there a way to do a poll on this site? This would be a fantastic survey and I'd really like to see the results... Or maybe someone has already counted up all the responses in this topic?

If you're not dead set on holding your coins, try spending here: https://spendabit.co/go?q=octopus+toy

When I was a newbie I can't wait to become a jr. member for I feel like it takes me a month to jump in that position maybe its because I am not that active when it comes to posting. But when I saw in the screen that I am getting higher this really gets me to push through and continue what I am doing..

Congratulations! I know how you feel, I'm getting closer now. Now you are beyond a Jr. Member. Is your campaign working out?
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had one chance... on: March 22, 2016, 12:06:06 AM
Just tell them if a super-advanced alien ship that just traveled 1000 light years at faster than light speed were to arrive here would they whip out their wallets to feed the meter or pay in Bitcoin?

See how that goes over.
70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin? on: March 22, 2016, 12:00:13 AM
1. we aren't getting paid in bitcoin

2. nowhere to spend outside or even on the internet.

Plenty of places to spend Bitcoin, try this: https://spendabit.co/go?q=jacket
or this: https://spendabit.co/go?q=laptop

I think a lot of people may have gotten in above the current price and are psychologically holding out for a higher price. The reasoning becomes kind of like long-term investing.
71  Other / Meta / Re: how to become a jr member to start signature campaign? on: March 21, 2016, 09:56:33 PM
so you are here just to post bullshit and get paid as other signature whores? why no just focus on content and let things around flow...

How much could you possibly expect to make from a signature campaign? A few bucks a week for dozens or even hundreds of posts? For the record, apparently unlike the OP I'm not interested in joining an existing campaign but I do think this kind of micro-sponsorship a fascinating concept.

some skilled whores here are able to generate around 40$ worth bitcoin per week just by posting non-sense. unskilled ones with low grade about 5$..

That's a lot more than I would have expected. Seems the site is driven by this unique "sponsorship engine"?

73  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Latin American economies are turning to bitcoin on: March 21, 2016, 02:16:21 AM
Imagine bitcoin is a really scary issue for South American Countries since a lot of them have a hard time as it is keeping the currency a float.
If it was to gain traction enough if could sweep right through South America and really shake up the system in place. The only issue is internet access for these isolated villages and you would have to make it really easy to use.

The control would be lost for some of these Countries if they can not use the banking system against the people.

Bitcoin received "regulated" status in Brazil in 2013, whatever that means.
74  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Latin American economies are turning to bitcoin on: March 18, 2016, 06:59:30 PM
Well some of the currencies have less intrinsic value than goat shit.......... Smiley (i stole that from andreas)

Bless you for leading the train of though to this very special place:

Good read, thanks. Do we think Brazil is maybe the next big Bitcoin frontier? As I understand they're in real trouble while the real (currency) is tanking.

Hi Jhanzo, Yes, Mickeyb and alfaboy23 helped out. Cool fish avatar. I guess you need a higher member level for avatars as well? Something to look forward to. Thanks!

thanks. yes you'll need to reach at least full member rank to upload an avatar. there are some restrictions though.

Thanks for the link Jhanzo, guessing theymos is the founder/administrator here.
78  Other / Meta / Re: how to become a jr member to start signature campaign? on: March 16, 2016, 10:33:11 PM
Based on your current activity , you have to wait at least 1,5 month to be Jr member

1 X 14 = 14 ( activity point )
2 X 14 = 28
3 X 14 = 42 Jnr Member ( 1,5 month)
4 X 14 = 56
5 X 14 = 70 Member (2,5 month)

that's not exactly correct. the last activity period just ended yesterday. if OP posts in this activity period and post again in the first day of the next activity period he'll reach 30 activity in less than 3 weeks.

Hi Jhanzo, I'm interested in building up to a Jr. Member by contributing to the community with ideas and discussions. Is there a best way to accomplish this? I've been around a while but haven't posted a lot yet. Also, I don't understand very well the relationship of members to "signature campaigns" (is there a FAQ on this?) but I'm interested in learning about it and making a nice signature primarily for myself. Thanks a lot!

it appears alfaboy23 and Mickeyb have answered this.  Tongue their advice is good IMO.

The best way is to make just one constructive post per day and continue this for 1 more month. And the easiest is to make 14 posts or more in one day and make one post per activity period.
Also, I don't understand very well the relationship of members to "signature campaigns" (is there a FAQ on this?) but I'm interested in learning about it and making a nice signature primarily for myself. Thanks a lot!
Its advertising, and they are paying you for it. As for creating a signature(if you're not joining a signature campaign) , the forum uses BBcode and its incredibly easy to make good signatures for yourself

If you want to know more about signature campaigns, have a look at several of the threads in Beginners and help.

Mickeyb, thanks for your advice and timing suggestions, I will take this course. Interestingly I was originally under the impression that each poster was the founder of the company represented in their signature, or at least worked for the company. Actually in some way they do work for the company in a mini-sponsorship type deal. What a really neat way to do a microadvertising/promotion campaign. I'm really blown away, impressed. Is this style unique to Bitcointalk?

Also thanks to alfaboy23 for the additional pointers.

As with any new venture it's a really big challenge and you need to have a superior idea, plan things out well, work super hard at it each day and surround yourself with good, knowledgeable people. (Luck also helps! Cheesy) This is especially so since Bitcoin is in a sense a startup itself and we are falling within this arena. So many of us are really like startup^startup! High risk but hopefully reward.
