101  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Intersango exchange (formerly Britcoin) on: October 14, 2011, 04:44:27 PM
there are some functionality problems. i noticed last night that i could not cancel orders. I had orders that i was trying to cancel that i did not want to execute. i could not cancel them and they were executed.

today the orders are being held in a queue and i still cannot cancel them.

First most people do not and will just never understand Bitcoin at all.  All they know is that some people keep telling them it is a crypto-currency, and that it's secure, and that it's p2p, etc., but these assertions are near meaningless to most people, as are the technical details of how it works.
this is precisely why it doesnt matter whether you call bitcoin money or not. most people dont understand monetary policy or the mechanics of money and they still use it because it is functional. whether people understand it or not bitcoin allows people to engage in finacnial exchanges across international boundaries without interference from government or corporate entities. you cannot do that by any other means at present.
103  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Having a sell low + buy high order = Get ripped-off by Mt.Gox fees (WTF ?) on: October 14, 2011, 06:01:27 AM
might be better if gox had a transaction id which would identify the which buy or sell the completed order belonged to and a history of buy sell orders as well as the current history.

having the ability to automate buy and sell orders without confirmation is essential. op should cancel orders that you don't won't to be executed.

how are you cutting and pasting the signature? directly from command prompt into eligius? or are you putting it into a notepad type program first?

just make sure no matter what its only one line when you copy / paste it

I had the same program and I suspect a CR was getting stuck in there when it started on the next line

that worked. Thank you.

can anybody advise how to sign this message?

I have 0.5 running. wallet.dat is correct for address of signature.  I get a different signature every time i run the command. every signature is malformed when signing the message at eligius.

i have no idea how this works! Huh

I am on windows and collecting namecoin. would love to have this implemented on this pool. as not found another decent size pool using smpps and offering merged mining yet.
109  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Recent changes to MtGox withdrawal options = piece of shit. on: October 13, 2011, 09:59:58 AM
This is due to an security reason to make sure that you have control over your account and for this to become unblocked, you would have to send in some ID and other information to their verification page.  It is best to go to Mt.gox support page and ask the support if your account has been blocked to withdraw any funds.

This problem was addressed by MagicalTux above. nothing to do with account verification.

This is a known bug in bitcoind. Sometimes when we send funds, the original funds are too fragmented, and cannot be used to actually send anything. In that case it's often possible to send smaller amounts until the fragmented transactions are spent.

I already talked about this on #bitcoin-dev as it is a major issue, but haven't got any response. Instead we'll just use a different way of sending coins to prevent that bug from happening (should be fine starting next week).

Version 0.5?
The latest version is 0.4.0
You can get 0.5.0 rc1 from https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/tags

0.4.0 does not support the signmessage RPC

Commandline is required for namecoin in general, not just mining them.
source code! arrgh!

can just about manage the cli for my namecoins

how can it be cheaper to buy than produce with free electric.
118  Economy / Speculation / Re: Long-Term Bulls on: October 11, 2011, 08:48:12 PM
i buy dollars because they are made of paper, i like paper becuase it is made of trees trees were real creatures before they came money, not metaphorical creatures.. real creatures. dollars are green and i like the color green. i also like the picture of the pryamid with the eye in the middle and i like to collect all the presidents so i can remember who they are.  i also buy dollars cause there is a neat trick you can do that shows the picture of the twin towers with a plane crashing in to them.

I also think it is great that the government and the isrealian people in the federal reserve can print dollars out of thin air.

thats so cool man. i love dollars.

120  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1400 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); with LP&Ntime, NMC Merged Mining on: October 11, 2011, 04:21:14 PM
I just started using this pool, I had previously gave up using it because i could not keep track of what i was being paid for my shares. but i am interested again because the pool is offereing merged mining and i am interested in namecoin.

Is there a way that i can see my lifetime shares. or how can i work out what i am paid on average per share over x number of shares?
not knowing this puts me off mining here.
