41  Economy / Speculation / Re: Manipulator pulled out at $2.00, he has given up, $1.00 he we come on: October 25, 2011, 08:21:35 AM
I think it might be 'cause the Gox  bank accounts EU are frozen.

This is why you shouldn't use banks people.  Bitcoins and cash only!

Gox also should've kept its money in Dwolla instead.  Dwolla has frozen accounts  but they're not as bad as PayPal or banks.
Its not just gox that has had their bank accounts frozen.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

its pretty obvious that due to recent events there will be a shortage of new money coming into bitcoin. anybody genuinely wanting to buy would be insane to buy now or even leave there bids active.

Remember this post?  It's your own.

yep. I am still longterm bull. but until the exchanges sort out their bank accounts. were all going to be watching over some massive price drops.

so i am bearish too, and almost totally short to cover my own rectal area. :-o

perhaps the fact that the UK and Euro banks have tag teamed all the exchanges simultaneously might have something to do with the new downwards trend.

47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: October 24, 2011, 09:26:25 AM
The next thing I'd like to add to the Litecoin client is the ability to mine at a pool. Matoking built a nice GUI on top of minerd. I will look into incorporating this into the client. See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=47417.msg587882#msg587882

A similar but opposite feature I'd like work on is for each client to be able to act as a node in a distributed pool.
Something like p2pool: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/P2Pool
Either add a UI for the client to kick off p2pool. Or code up p2pool (or something similar) in C++.
The former will be much simpler, but would be hacky, because litecoin will start/stop/configure p2pool via python scripts, and p2pool will talk to litecoin via RPC calls on localhost.
The latter would be much nicer because the client will communicate with different nodes on the same p2p network as the block chain communication, but it would take considerable amount of work to implement it.

+1  nice! the latter. maybe something could be done in the interim and hold back the c++ implementation for a future release.

hmm! litcoin.org and litecoin.info seem to be down at the minute. The official Litecoin thread explains most of this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=47417.0

litecoin is gpu hostile (at present) block chain. it can only be mined with cpu. this means more people with standard hardware (not gpu) can mine them and provide the required network distribution.

litecoin is still quite a new currency, developed within the last couple of months.

exchange can be found at btc-e.com

Can you point me to some post, please? I searched thread, but cannot find any explanation. I'm also wondering why eligius need to know where I have a nmc wallet and which client I'm using.
the discussion about nmc begins on page 20 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=23768.380

the issues with the namecoin address registration and bitcoin version 5 are discussed over pages 21 - 24

58  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the price slowly climbing? on: October 21, 2011, 05:06:15 PM
My Elliott waves were poorly received in the TA thread, but to me, we're clearly in the middle of the final c wave since June and I expect a massive year long rally (III) before the end of the year. In shorter terms, I expect we'll climb a bit and finally crash to the base ($1's) in a month's time. Since I updated this chart last week, bitcoin continues to follow this textbook pattern. We're now in the 4th wave before the 5th and final plunge.

ah! thats a good one.
59  Economy / Speculation / Re: If you can't imagine this being possible... you need to be in cash... NOW on: October 21, 2011, 05:04:37 PM
surely that is the wrong way round.

if you can imagine this being possible you need to be in cash now and you need to make lots of posts encouraging other people sell there coins.

if you cant imagine it being possible, then carry on with your business nothing to see here.
60  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whats your strategy; long, short, or cashed out? on: October 21, 2011, 08:56:05 AM
being stressed out because some digital key pairs have lost value against an even more ridiculous form of "currency" makes my brain hurt.
