661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Evolution of Money: From Barter system to Bitcoin on: October 29, 2023, 10:39:28 AM
You might be surprised that the barter system are still alive and well in some rural areas in 3rd world countries and even flee markets in 1st world markets. (People still exchange goods and services)

Then you will be more surprised that digital payment methods have been developed before Bitcoin existed, like MPesa in Africa. (Yes, it is a centralized payment method.... but it was revolutionary at the time)  Cheesy
662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin scaling: Revisiting the 2015 debate on: October 29, 2023, 09:15:00 AM
I think one of the best thing that came out of that debate, was the exit of Gavin Andresen (CW so-called proof of Satoshi) and also (Tantrum Baby) Mike Hern from Bitcoin. We do not need Google spies and 3Letter agency snitches ..being in our core developers.

Let's not forget that Satoshi vanished after Gavin talked to the government.  Roll Eyes  Yes, the solutions for Bitcoin scaling might not be perfect, but it is working. Let's just build on that and improve the technology that we love.  Wink
663  Economy / Economics / Re: why super rich pay no tax but suggest giving all their wealth away (eventually) on: October 28, 2023, 03:17:25 PM
OP, I read a book ===>  "Why We Want You To Be Rich - Two Men One Message" written by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki... where they explain something interesting.

They say, they want more people to be rich, because if more people are rich.. then they pay less taxes. They do not want a small group of super rich people paying 90%+ of the taxes..... they want a good middle class and a large group of rich people that can help them to pay the taxes.  Wink
664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think if you have a lot of money its hard to satisfy your ego in gambling on: October 28, 2023, 03:11:52 PM
Most of the high rollers run out of money.... and you can see that from the big tippers in the Stake.com chat that stopped tipping. You should just stop gambling when you realize that you cannot stop gambling any more.... and too many people realize that too late.

These high rollers get a huge boost of dopamine when they bet huge amounts, but they eventually run out of money.... because they do not have a income to sustain that kind of gambling.  Roll Eyes
665  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fake casino streamers! Why such streamers are very popular? on: October 28, 2023, 03:06:15 PM
Returning to the issue of gambling and especially online gambling, we all know that every year bookmakers spend a lot of money on marketing activities, and hiring these KOLs is a small part of the plan they are aiming for, so there will also be many people with bad intentions who may be willing to spend more money to entice new people to come to them.
Whatever it is to get traffic, it is certain that all the money will be spent on promotions and campaigns, whether it be to streamers or influencers, everything will definitely benefit the casino if they are able and dare to spend more money, the more money they spend, the more traffic they will get, like What we see is that there are lots of casino advertising campaigns in sports clubs or athletes and even artists, all to get traffic.

Smart bookies know how to form their marketing team so that building it requires a lot of money to run it, although sometimes not all casinos dare to spend a lot of money to run it because not everyone has the confidence and confidence that what they spend will make a profit big from getting traffic and new gamblers. but the fact is that they are really successful through their online casinos.

What is the use spending say $100 000 000 a month on marketing and having to tweak the RTP so that you get it back and in the process losing gamblers because your RTP is so sucky?

You have to retain the gamblers you get from the marketing and people that keep losing at a casino, will give up and leave. I see this happening at Stake.com, where they spend gazillions on marketing.... but the RTP sucks.  Roll Eyes
666  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchanges allowing fixed monthly investment in BItcoin on: October 28, 2023, 03:00:36 PM
OP, you should not automate the buying of your bitcoins, because you not going to get the most out of that money... if you have a fixed buying cycle.  Roll Eyes What happens if the price goes up to say $100 000 per Bitcoin and you are still buying at that price.... I will much rather save that money.. until there are a drop in the price and then buy more coins at a lower price.  Wink

You have to buy low and sell high.... that is the secret sauce to maximize you profit. There are too many people simply buying for the sake of buying... and they are missing out on buying more coins with less money.  Wink
667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK passes bill to enable authorities to seize Bitcoin used for crime on: October 27, 2023, 08:44:41 AM
Asset Forfeiture is not something new, so why should Bitcoin be excepted, if it is used in criminal activities. The whole aim of "Asset Forfeiture" is for criminals to know, if they benefited from a crime and if they are caught.... everything will be seized and they will be left with nothing.

The reality are that criminals have seen that Bitcoin are giving them some anonymity and they are taking full advantage of that, but most of them have to give up the passwords or Seed... when they get caught. Hopefully the seized coins goes towards the funding of anti-crime and crime prevention projects.  Roll Eyes
668  Economy / Economics / Re: Lucky you do not sell to blackrock on: October 27, 2023, 06:30:47 AM
This is unfortunately one of the things in the world that will not change, because money rule the world. BlackRock have US$9.42 Trillion in assets under management, so they can buy most of the bitcoins in circulation.. if they wanted to.... and people will sell it to them at a good price.  Roll Eyes

The thing is, they do risk management with all their investments and will never buy that many bitcoins, because Bitcoin is a high risk investment. They have a very balanced portfolio of investment ....based on their clients portfolio.

What is your selling price?
669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you gamble till old age or not on: October 27, 2023, 05:52:35 AM
I think a question like this will be best answered by simply going to a brick n mortar casino and observing the many old people that are gambling there every day.

I think a lot of them cannot work anymore and they dream of a huge jackpot hit that will help them to boost their Pension fund.... or they have enough money, but they are just bored and they looking for some entertainment to keep them busy.  Tongue
670  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - Drake, UFC, Everton, Alfa Romeo F1 Team on: October 27, 2023, 05:45:52 AM
What do you guys think about the decapitated head hoax that was released about Eddie? Do you think it is a hoax or a death threat or simply some kind of marketing gimmick for Halloween?

It is obviously not real, because you can see it is a picture of Eddie's head in the bottle, but based on the hate that are spewed on the chat about Stake and Eddie, something like this can put ideas in sick people's heads.  Roll Eyes
671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the most weird thing you bought with crypto? on: October 27, 2023, 05:33:41 AM
I bought a necklace with a real gilded butterfly with Gold edging, but after closer inspection.. (when the necklace broke) ..it turned out that the Gold was simply Gold colored and not actual 24ct Gold as advertised. (They coated it with a epoxy coating, so that you have to break it to be able to test it)  Roll Eyes

In any way, it was the thought that counted and the recipient were very happy with the gift. I also bought some tokens for a rat race, where rats competed in a maze.  Cheesy
672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dangerous chasing losses on: October 26, 2023, 06:15:36 AM
Your story has a happy ending.... for most people it is entirely different, because they lose all of their money and a lot more than what they can afford. I have gone into that crazy situation before....where I am chasing my losses and I have never stopped with a profit.  Roll Eyes

I have learnt from my previous mistakes and I changed my gambling behavior since, so when I go into a losing streak.... I just quit. I stick to my budget and if it is gone... I stop gambling.  Wink
673  Other / Archival / Re: CEO of Stake.com (Eddie Craven) Found Decapitated In Home on: October 26, 2023, 06:09:59 AM
Well, asked around in the Stake chat and people are saying Eddie was active in the chat, so this is bullshit. I think this is just a Stake player messing around and stirring up some controversy, with the Halloween around the corner.  Roll Eyes

This is not a death threat or some butt hurt gambler that lost money, but just some troll that are trying to get some attention. I also doubt that this is a marketing stunt, because it's kinda sick to do that.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
674  Economy / Economics / Re: World Debt Clock by nations. on: October 26, 2023, 05:56:46 AM
The United States Government debt accounted for 121.6 % of the country's Nominal GDP in Jun 2023, compared with the ratio of 120.1 % in the previous quarter. US government debt to GDP ratio data is updated quarterly, available from Mar 1969 to Jun 2023. = Source : https://www.ceicdata.com/en/indicator/united-states/government-debt--of-nominal-gdp

We should consider that it is growing and that it can quickly snowball into a huge problem, if the country has to go to war. (USA are already funding several wars all over the world)  Roll Eyes
675  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 7,000 bitcoins locked on USB stick. Owner not rushing to unlock them on: October 26, 2023, 05:45:00 AM
I also think he signed some kind of contract with the first experts and they want their commission to be paid, so they are forcing him to stay with them, until they manage to crack it.

I would just pay them their fee and ask the second company to "unlock" it, so that I am guaranteed to get the money back. Why should you risk losing the coins or forced to wait for a company that might only be able to do this ..years from now?
676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you leave the country or will you stay, stand up and fight for your right? on: October 26, 2023, 05:26:40 AM
You do not fight the government by avoiding them or relocating to another country..... you fight them with your vote. The government that makes stupid decisions like that, should not be in power..... so you should vote for another political party that will support Bitcoin.

You should also garner support of all your friends and family that can vote and use all those votes against them. A government can only have influence over Bitcoin, if we allow them to stay in power.  Wink Wink
677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling Generally An Illicit Activity? on: October 25, 2023, 06:08:37 AM
You have to understand how money laundering work, before you can understand why people use gambling to launder money. So, the idea behind money laundering are to legitimize dirty money and to bring it into the legal Banking system, so that it can be used.

So, you mix the dirty money that are derived from criminal activities, with "clean" money that are received from real or fake businesses ...so that it can be seen as "clean" money by the Fiat financial system. These criminals will use gambling operations to do this and they will even operate unregulated casinos to launder their dirty money.

So not all gambling operations are unregulated and most of them are regulated and they require KYC verification and implement complex software to detect money laundering activities.  Wink
678  Other / Archival / Re: CEO of Stake.com (Eddie Craven) Found Decapitated In Home on: October 25, 2023, 05:53:30 AM
I think it is just sick to post a hoax like this on social media, no matter what your reasons are. Stake.com have recently been hacked by a North Korean hacking team and they stole over $40 000 000 from their wallet, so things like this are real.  Angry

I hope law enforcement will take this "death" threat seriously and they will charge whomever are behind this. I also hope this is not some marketing stunt that are pulled for Halloween, because I see a photo has been posted with a person holding Eddie's head in a glass bottle under his arm.  Roll Eyes
679  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2023/10/24] Reuters: Bitcoin is back, stocks wobble on: October 25, 2023, 05:42:10 AM
Yea, people are watching Black Rock's platforms like crazy now, to see if the ETF approval are granted or not... and the Bitcoin price are reacting to this hype. I think most people are quite sure that the SEC will approve it, so they are buying early to maximize their profits by the time the announcement are made. (price jumped from $30 000 to $35000 in a day)  Roll Eyes

In any way, it is nice to see the Bitcoin price increase before Black Friday and also before Xmas, when people need money for the festive season and for a well deserved holiday.  Wink
680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blackrock ETF listed on the ticker index… perhaps it’s approved? on: October 25, 2023, 05:35:25 AM
Why would they add a ticker if their application is still pending approval? This might anger the SEC and they might deny their approval... based on that. So the only logical answer is that it was approved and that they are preparing their platform for the rush, after it has been announced.  Huh Huh

It seems as though the price spike will be priced in, before the announcement are made... so we should not expect too much fireworks by the time it happens. (The early birds are catching all the worms)  Tongue
