I tried to recover my wallet from my old pc with the seed, but i got a warning and everytime i try to open the wallet i get
"An exception occurred: TypeError: Cannot read property 'initDeviceProperties' of undefined; cause: undefined"
and when i press okay the wallet stops running. Any clue what is wrong?

I drove by today and everything was branded Centerfolds. I looked inside the main entrance and didn't see any construction. My business is promoting Bitcoin to local merchants. The website directory is just one of the incentives to get them to be interested. All the businesses listed accept bitcoin in some manner. Either directly for goods and services, or they are experimenting with receiving bitcoin tips only. If they are agreeable to try bitcoin, then they get listed. If I list them and they stop accepting Bitcoin, then they are delisted. There are two guys actively pursuing new merchants for BIV, myself and "Brett". The events are called Bitcoin Lunch Mobs and happen every Wednesday. About 60 of us communicate through a distro list to find more local merchants that might be interested, discuss latest news and trends, and coordinate where the next lunch mob will be. Between 8 and 12 show up each week to support the businesses that are toying with the idea. Now that my briefcase is operational, I'll be spending weekend mornings at the local bagel shop letting people know they can use their pocket change to buy my bitcoins and spend them right there on their bagels. I think it's because I'm in vegas and everyone is use to scam attempts. They don't want to hear anything you have to say because bitcoin "sounds too good to be true". Free payment processing? Uh huh, what's the catch. No hardware to purchase or maintain? No subscription fees? No chargebacks? yea right. Oh, AND you're going to set me up for free? Get the fuck out of here, scammer, I have a business to run. Useless they're clueless, you're selling them repeat business. I suggest informing them that because of their fine establishment, you thought it best to approach them first with the near zero risk proposal, also informing them in almost the same breath that if they respectfully decline the offer, you're prepare to go to their direct competition with the exact same offer.

If you can get together a regular group of people to attend, I can offer some tips to help convince merchants to give Bitcoin a try.
Set a regular schedule for your lunch mob so it is easy for members to set time aside and participate.
A few days before the lunch mob, visit the merchant and offer to "pre pay for a lunch party". Offer then $200 in cash to hold to get their attention long enough to tell them they need to spend a few minutes to learn about bitcoin wallets and how bitcoin works. Tell them your group wants to pay in bitcoin to them so they need to know how to use it. Then, after the lunch is over, you'll settle up with them on the bitcoin/cash - basically, you'll be buying the bitcoins back and they will want to keep the cash.
Sometimes they go for it. If they do, or if they don't, offer them a bitcoin tip jar for their register(s). Basically, a piece of paper that says "we are experimenting with bitcoins" and a verify url and tipping address for each register. If they are not interested in accepting bitcoins for meals, the tip jar is a solid fall back with zero risk to them as tips are never expected. Watch the address as your memeber so in to visit (encourage them to do so over the next couple weeks). When the tip jar gets $20 or so, pay them a visit again and show them the tips. Offer to buy those bitcoins for cash, but make sure you make them understand they have to do some work to get it like install a wallet, import the key, and spend it to you.

can you give some more details on the client not opening? does the client window ever display or does it just never connect to a server and sync/display a transaction history.
if you can get to the preferences options, what are the settings for connecting? Are you trying random servers if the selected one is not available?
Also, what version are you running?

dont use infectable media like that... use electrum and seedless wallets on the online side. then you create unsigned transactions from the online side, send them to the offline side via QR codes, sign them from the offline side, and send the signed transaction back to the online side and broadcast it to the network.

Jan, at Bitcoin 2013, you talked about the ability to sweep in amounts you kept in a QR code in your physical wallet and change directly back to the physical wallet... when do you think this feature will be more automated in mycelium?

Version 1.8 does indeed have an implemented open wallet function. It is, however, severely limited because there is no "new wallet" function - so you really can only open the original/same electrum.dat file unless you create another from the command line.
There is a standing request for "new wallet" to be implemented, if it hasn't already in the latest repository.

This was a oversight in the request for the ability to open wallet files. There is an open item to create new wallets as you described.
