I just remember it being a chore... having to teach them about counting back change, waiting for it at the counter and making sure it was right instead of getting ripped off.

now they just expect to see their balance go up every saturday morning when I pay their allowance and regretfully go down when they want something. it's a million times easier now with bitcoin because exchange rates and change are calculated for you. it's just a number to them now.

I rant about the government printing money to pay the bills and comment that it's not fair I dont get to do the same thing, but I don't think they are up to that level of conception yet. I'm expecting that to kick in in about 5 years when they start studying civics in school and hopefully we'll have another full libtard in our family by then.
223  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Defcon Bitcoin Meetup on: July 01, 2012, 09:29:48 PM
Then, I believe we'll be having breakfast together on or about Sunday morning! It's a little out of the way, but a great venue off the strip to take in some scenery and talk about Bitcoin. Requires an early start to make it back for the talks.

If your going to be at Defcon, as a local, and choose a cool place in the area a typical tourist like me wouldnt stumble upon, and its on me..

BTW, anyone going to bsides prior?
224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for kids on: July 01, 2012, 09:14:48 PM
waiting until they are older may be a worse time for them to start using bitcoin because of the advanced socialization. Now, all they have to deal with is dad. This has been working out great with my kid since 2010 (they are 10 now). They've had Bitcoins on their phone since the andreas android client has been out. When they want to buy something at walmart, or wherever, they send me bitcoins and I pay with my fiat. they've learned how to check the exchange rate, do conversions, use different wallets as different accounts, and even keeping offline wallets for security and savings.

Idea Alert...

Is anyone interested in doing a flashcoin event at a stripclub? If so, I'll start actively looking for girls who get it and will be willing to accept bitcoin during defcon. We'd all have to be willing to meet at the same club at the same time and have our bitcoins at the ready. Where just depends on what girls I could attract for the event and where they work.

I tested cell reception out at the site. I have tmobile and it worked just fine. I'll be around all week for face-to-face cash exchanges too. If you want to pay for dinner with Bitcoin, just make sure I'm invited to the party lol

of course, I'm all in.

BTW, if you're doing Deviant's shoot, I'll be a safety officer and selling bullets for bitcoins.
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone in the USA doing face to face currency exchanges? on: July 01, 2012, 07:15:41 PM
I'm on localbitcoins.com. I trade all the time. I potentially charge a commission and convenience fee (I come to you any time, anywhere in the valley). Being in Vegas with lots of out of town visits from everywhere in the world, it works pretty well and is fun to meet new bitcoiners face to face.
230  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator [v0.17] on: June 29, 2012, 06:02:03 PM
You can't use the openssl packages from centos repositories. They do not build openssl with EC due to some perceived patent infringements. Download the original openssl sources and compile them yourself and you'll be well on your way.

Hi I'm trying to compile vanitygen (cpu) on a centos 5 server, but I'm getting this error when I compile it.

vanitygen.c:28:24: error: openssl/ec.h: No such file or directory

I already install  openssl and openssl-devel, fix some missing files, but the ec.h file still missing, then I try to install openssl from source (official website), but don't fix the problem.

Can anyone help me please?

Remember this is a deterministic wallet... if you don't want imported addresses anymore, just restore from seed.

In Crypto We Trust...

Also, if god is a math formula, it would be quite complex... Bitcoin would be fraction him. Therefore, I suspect, Bitcoin would be the penis of God.

Issue #2012-26 is now available for download.

Post a copy near your workspace or favorite watering hole: breakroom, local cafe, community board, etc. Also, please post these PDFs to any language specific forums you are aware of that may find this information useful. The English version is already being plastered everywhere but the alternate language versions could use some promotion in those countries. Last week, Vietnam rocked the Google Analytic stats by posting the issue to their mining forum.

Also, I dunno if I narrowed down the free bitcent windows to tight, but only one giveaway was taken last week. I've opened it up a little bit this week, so be sure to get your friends to give it a shot for some free bitcents.

Please support/like us on Facebook. I still need ~15 more likes before I can get a custom URL for the page.

Using .60, I restored a wallet from a seed on my off-line laptop. The wallet was taken to an online computer and sync'd and taken back to the offline laptop. I can do 'electrum -o -w restored.dat history' and see transactions and balance information. But when I try and do 'electrum -o -w restored.dat addresses -ak', I get this error:

Quote
AttributeError: Wallet instance has no attribute 'get_address_flags'

Some additional info:
I just updated my offline laptop client to 60 from 48b. I copied the electrum tar file to the offline laptop, untarred it, and ran 'sudo python setup.py install'
