1) Pick up your favorite book
2) Remember the page number
3) Remember the number of the sentence from the top of the page
4) Compute md5 of that sentence and you got your seed!!!

So it comes down to remembering just two numbers and your favorite book instead of twelve random words.

seems to suggest that "restore" command requires network connection while "create" doesn't.

Say WAAAAAAAAT? That is some hotness right there... Will play with this tonight!

Also, use the -o option if you are offline with pretty much any command option or you'll get a (process) hang of death. In my experience anyway.
342  Other / Off-topic / Re: Off to Vegas for a week! on: May 31, 2012, 09:18:42 PM
Actually, they are monthly presentations.. Closer to the middle or end of the month, so nothing on the schedule for your dates.

But lets do something! Perhaps we can get drunk and flick StripCoin cards at pedestrians on Vegas blvd!

343  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who else is bored? on: May 31, 2012, 09:07:27 PM
As a merchant, exchange volatility is OK for me as long as its an overall upward trend and the frequency is relatively short. Volatility through December is almost a certainty as all the shorts and longs prepare to do battle against the inflation rate halfing. An upward trend is my outlook because Bitcoin IS being used more and more people around the world are becoming aware of it and its potential.
344  Economy / Marketplace / Re: GetBitcoin's New Cash Deposits, In Partnership With BitInstant on: May 30, 2012, 09:30:06 PM
In layman's terms he is a douche.

I think you're most qualified for the title douche at this point, Mr. "15 posts under your belt"... coming in here throwing the word fraud around. FUCK OFF...

Someone's going to build all this service around a brand like BitInstant and then ruin it all for your stupid fucking $40? Shut the fuck up. BitInstant turned my $500 into bitcoin in seconds with no problems and I'll soon be back for more.

Keep up the great work guys!

Stability ends the closer we get to December.

Trying to import some keys from an old wallet and all I get is "error". It is very likely it's just a duplicate key, but is there anyway to increase the debugging information?

Missed it by -><- much.. You need an RSS feed of upcoming shows or something.
349  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [ANN] 700,000 Cash Deposit Locations in Brazil, Russia, USA - BitInstant on: May 29, 2012, 07:49:34 PM
After a couple failed attempts (problems on my side), I just successfully did cash->bitcoins via email.

I paid the cashier $500 USD and by the time I had walked out to get back on my motorcycle, I received an email from coinapult that my Bitcoins were ready to pickup.

Overall, I paid about 5.15% fee ($25.73) .This service is unbelievably awesome compared to previous methods of getting Bitcoin. +10,000 Internets to BitInstant for this service. LOVE IT!

I highly recommend this service for purchases between $100-1,000 USD.. Above that, it starts to make sense to use International wire. Below that, probably dwolla, as shitty as they are, is probably still the most economical bet.

Saw this featured hinted at in another thread...

How, exactly, does electrum monitor off-line address balances?

Just curious, what's keeping this from working on a Mac?

I just wanted to encourage people to do their homework before they go participating in any sort of frenzy.

I've been participating in a buying frenzy since I first made the realization of what Bitcoin meant to the world.

How did this so quickly change to the topic of your mom?  Grin lol sorry had to "release" that one.
358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTCChina - Highest trading volume ever today on: May 27, 2012, 04:11:41 PM
gnah! This forum sux big time. If I want to quickly see where I have to read up, /sub is the best way I know of. Complaining about a /sub, causing a big meta-discussion is pure trolling. Anybody who does /sub, please keep doing it. If there is a 100% replacement for that, please mods enforce its usage by forbidding /subbers pointing them to how to do it silently. ... enough troll feeding for today ...

A 'sub' is just as distracting, off-topic, and 'meta' as complaining about it. There is a silent alternative, 'notify', use it.

360  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Address Book Import/Export on: May 27, 2012, 02:55:07 PM
A feature I think is desperately needed is address book import/export standard for transporting and syncing between clients.

thoughts?
