101  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [NSFW] What do you guys think about this.. on: June 04, 2015, 03:15:10 AM

I just saw this somewhere else and some people were saying that the Cop is not to be blamed here  Shocked And that she deserved it.

What?!

What backwards country did this happened?

The guy should be fired immediately and face charges for what he did, he clearly cannot behave accordingly to his position.

I almost guarantee it's here in the good ole USA. A light touch can be an assault charge here. A dirty look can get you a charge of "menacing".

She deserved something , but the cop is completely responsible for his actions. A "civilian" (as they like to call us) would get at least one year in jail for that kick.
102  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Silk Road Operator Ross Ulbricht to Be Sentenced Today on: June 02, 2015, 02:14:29 AM
There's this nod-nod, wink-wink concept of rehabilitation by way of prison. American prisons offer very little in the way of "fixing" "criminals"; they are purely punitive and harsh. They simply want to feign justice - the USA has the highest  per capita incarceration rate in the world. Almost every person who comes out is worse than when they went in.

The police can do whatever they want, the judges can do whatever they want. Americans are very far from free. We only get freedom when they let us.

Having said that, most people know the consequences will be harsh, so try not to do shit that will get you locked up.
103  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is difference between Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin and NXT? on: May 30, 2015, 03:56:43 AM
Just a comment. I invest in both BTC and NXT. BTC has been around a lot longer and obviously is more established and valuable. NXT has a group of tight-knit followers and very skilled developers. The NXT (NRS) client is very robust with an Asset Exchange, Store Front for users, and many other cool features. Also, the POS system uses almost no electricity compared to POW.

As the above poster mentioned, the strength of your NXT password can not be overstated. Randomly generated and LONG. If you can memorize it, you'd better be Rainman or it's crap.

I love my BTC most, but NXT could really take off in the future. I'm glad I got into NXT early...I was a relative late-comer to crypto-currency and missed some good bitcoin frontier days.
104  Economy / Lending / Re: .01BTC, suggest a collateral? (Resolved!) on: May 29, 2015, 10:20:31 PM
I don't advocate the practice of lending frivolously, but I gave him the loan and he just paid it back.

Good people exist. So do bad.

Where is the love? I'll lend it to you, but pay it back. Or we will hunt you down. Smiley

Hunt down the owner of a Newbie account for 0.01 btc? That's obviously not happening. Tongue

Also, be careful when lending without securing collateral first; some users have in the past given (and perhaps, still do give) negative trust for that as well - the reasoning for it being something along the lines of: you're not only likely to get scammed yourself, but you're also inviting other scammers to show up, and start asking for the same, no collateral, conditions.

Hunt down vs cry if not paid back. Just a sociological experiment.

107  Economy / Service Discussion / MinerLoft on: May 25, 2015, 10:30:25 PM
I apologize if a thread exists covering this topic. I tried search, but received 'Search is disabled" msg.

Has anyone here tried MinerLoft (cloud mining service)?
https://www.minerloft.com/

It's a self-admitted "pyramid scheme" (the word scheme isn't inherently evil).

I'm just wondering if anyone has used it and if so, their opinion...or even the opinion of a seasoned miner taking a glance at the service they provide.

Thanks!
108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Watch bitcoin on CNN right now on: February 20, 2015, 03:36:32 AM
Senator Joe Machin was the only FUDster I saw.  Of course he basically admitted he didn't have a clue yet wants to ban bitcoin anyway.  That is the type of people who pass for government officials these days.  Other than that, I thought it was fairly neutral.  Good Job CNN.

Yes. People fear what they don't understand. He also stated:
1) it can be improved with government over site
2) The Fed should be the overseer

The .gov has a stellar record with currency. I can't wait until these old politicians are extinct.
