Perhaps limit users from pool jumping with a minimum stay period?
|
|
|
For instance, if I was so inclined, I could open a pool with zero fees and generate a massive following and monopoly of users. At this point, it just seems like "here's a list of pools, and everyone joins the cheapest one".
Kind of like RL. Not really...because in real life there is more to pools than fees, but In the game, comparing pools consists only of fees. In real life, I have lots of options for mining pools, including some with low, low fees, but I choose one with fees because their features justify it. In the game, every pool has the same general feature set. In real life, sure pools can come along and undercut fees, but there's so much more to it than fees in real life. Pools in real life can have forums and unique features or generate income in other ways, like advertising. So a pool in real life might say, we don't have any fees, but then put in ads to subsidize. Or pools in real life can expand to new coins or mutlicoin scripts. All I'm suggesting is that if pools in the game are going consist of comparing merely fees, I think to entice more investors into the game, there needs to be a way of controlling users coming and just spending .05BTC to run a pool with zero fees for the hell of it. My comment was just "tongue-in-cheek", but I did edit my earlier post that at least shows a pool owner has some overhead cost. I do agree that making a new pool should be more than a whim.

Maybe there should be overhead for a pool owner to offset the zero fee strategy. There may even be one - I don't know.
Edit:
Each user can own at most 1 pool There is monthly 0.050 BTC cost for pool creation and maintenance There is 0.005 BTC cost for pool update You should have at least 1000 Gh/s hash power in order to create a pool. Pool commission rate is the percentage value of each user's cost who joined to pool pays for per block Minimum Hash Power is the smallest required hash rate for the users who want to join to pool Once you create a pool, you cannot cancel or quit the pool. But you can edit pool information.

This thread got grumpy all of a sudden. English isn't everyone's primary language, even when it is mistakes happen. And demanding help is kind of rude. Ask nicely.

Localized time setting by user would be a 'nice to have'. Also question on the mining graph...I would expect it to show your current hash power, but it looks more like it graphs mining income(??). Mine dropped off when my pool was on a cold streak and stayed high on a hot streak. Very cool game concept though; and professionally done.

Nastypool is growing fast! Come join the pool for a lower fee!
yea i joined nastypool its look like nastypool more profitable than zeus, before im using zeus pool but like earn around 400 sats perblock? with nastypool got around 500 I joined too with 110 GHS.

How to change pool? I joined nastypool and i want to change it
My 2 days Income from 10 GHs mining is 10,000 sat Will my income increase if i change my pool ?
that's big income my account 3 days and balance under 10000 satoshi. i don't know why maybe because i'm not login, this game needed login everyday? Help says login every two days or your miners pause.

From the people that are currently using it, what is it like? Is it fun, or is it just grindy?
I can't say since I just started, but my mining addiction is so bad I run two U3's at a tiny loss just for a fix.

This looks like a lot of fun since current RL mining is kind of in the suck mode. I'm in.

I'm not a fan of batch 1 of these. work out the bugs.

Pensioners are not inherently poor. Maybe in Canada - I don't know.
I hope this is a legitimate story and BTC starts to gain credibility though.

I don't think crypto is even close to taking center stage. Not enough people know of bitcoin, not enough people understand bitcoin, and we won't see widespread adoption until we've solved a few issues. How many users does the entirety of cryptocurrency have? Do we even go into the million? I think bitcoin is going to be widely recognized by 2020, widely used and understood by 2030.
I agree with this; no quick mainstream paradigm shift for crypto. Right now to most it's a curiosity at best. Hash up and hodl.

I bought some UMISOO earlier today, and there have been around 6 blocks that have confirmed on my S5 hash and nothing has shown up on my UMISOO payout yet. Is anyone else not getting paid for UMISOO blocks?
I haven't seen any payment for UMISOO either. Bought some yesterday, and added more today. I'll believe it when I see it. A few weeks back I received a notification from Bitmain the UMISOO contracts were "paused" due to lack of profitability. I don't own any and I haven't seen a statement saying they're back online, but that's all I know. Maybe send Bitmain Support questioning this.

Sorry, just looked at your diagram and see you're not using the USB miners. I've used a network switch to a wireless ethernet bridge to hook multiple S4s into the LAN. I don't see the problem you're presenting I guess.
Could you elaborate please: What is a "wireless ethernet bridge"? It picks up the wifi signal and provides at least one ethernet port into the LAN. Like this: http://tinyurl.com/q88vqbjPlug your miners into the switch, then the switch into the bridge. My Linksys has a "bridge Mode". I activated it and can no longer login even by it's direct IP address. I still can access the miners BUT no internet. Not sure I have it setup right. Yeah, if it has bridge mode, it should just act as a "proxy" to convert the wifi signal into the ethernet port. What model is it? I've had to config a few different brands/models - some are super easy and some nearly impossible. I have one by Belkin that you just plugged your laptop into, set gateway and wifi credentials and it just worked. Send me the brand/model and I'll see if I can offer any tips. From these Linksys guides they both show using a network cable. I need to use the wireless. http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=132275http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=143751From the first link: "NOTE: The wireless equivalent of cascading is called bridging. This method is officially supported only by selected router models. For more information and instructions in setting your router as a wireless bridge, cli.k here." See if yours is in the select list, if not, that device won't do what you're trying to do.
