If I were going to import BTC data into NinjaTrader:
1. Download NinjaTrader 2. You don't need a broker / a demo feed 3. Download BTC data and get it into the format required by NinjaTrader and save it in $BTC.txt 4. Create a new instrument in instrument manager called $BTC 5. Import data using import historical data 6. Create strategies / charting / backtests from there.
Meh fine, I'll do it real quick :p Id love to do it too. Care to point me towards a pre formatted $BTC.txt file? Or the formatting specifications?

Did you produce that chart showing historical success of your plan?
If so, how?
Yes, It is using NinjaTrader - an excellent automated and discretionary trading platform. Basically you program a strategy (or use their easy-coding utility) and backtest the strategy on historical data. If you're interested in testing your ideas and automated trading, I highly recommend you learn about the platform. www.ninjatrader.comFeel free to ask me any questions about it if you're interested. Im trying to sign up but it says I need a broker... Can I not just try this out? I dont have a broker. Also less important / off topic: why do people need brokers? Why cant they just connect to the exchange and make trades like we all do to Gox? I tried to download but it says I need Windows 7 or whatever version they are at now. I had to use a Windows computer for a presentation and had no idea what I was looking at. I think I will stick with R for backtesting. It is open-source and is a powerful statistical tool. I don't have to worry about faulty statistical methods in R. There is even a package that allows trading through Interactive Brokers. Ill check this out too Thanks EDIT WTF is that...

I first heard about bitcoin on reddit.com/r/poker. OBVSLY one of the main advantages to BTC is that the US cannot regulate it like they have with online poker.
I think Bitcoin poker will be the killer app the propels BTC into the mainstream.

Bitcoin / Pools / p2pool - Decentralized, Absolutely DoS-Proof, Pool Hopping-Proof Pool [archival]

The first post in the thread outlines how to get started. Give it a shot and ask if you run into trouble.
I am sorry, I had read the first post before I asked...might as well be in FORTRAN I am 100% down with the politics/economics, I am good with hardware, I would rather chew glass than break on the software config...I will be here when y'all can port it out to an idiot. You're talking to a guy still using GUIMiner Well, it's obviously not as simple as GUIMiner. I wish I could convince you that it only takes a bit of work to get it up and running, but I know it can be difficult for someone who isn't comfortable with it. If there was a more detailed step by step instruction manual that basically outlined every single step required, would you consider mining for P2Pool?One where I could literally copy paste the needed commands and click direct download links... sounds great! Id switch. Although I think it would be better if this could somehow be integrated with GUIMiner... I would guess that alot of the bigger pools miners use GUIMiner because its easy (same reason they use the bigger pools, its easy)

I would just like to point out that checking the source code doesn't really tell you much, because there's no guarantee that the included source is what produced the executable. So compile the source yourself...

Can red flag events and Zhou's claim of guaranteed liquidity both exist?
Red flag - one-sided guaranteed liquidity Normal - full guaranteed liquidity If you have a short position when no buying red flag happens - full guaranteed liquidity If you have a long position when no selling red flag happens - full guaranteed liquidity I had a long position recently when the red flag was on the buy button. I was sad that I couldn't buy more BTC at a price lower than my base price. Is this not a valid concern or problem for your guaranteed liquidity? Thank you for trying to answer, its entirely possible I just dont understand some of the vocabulary. But they can't pull more money out of thin air. If they are out of money, they are out of money. And they need to keep some reserves to make sure shorts are still allowed to close their positions. That's why the red-flag sometimes prevents guaranteed liquidity on one side. Being out of money on a guaranteed liquidity site is an oxymoron. Right? A disclaimer is probably in order on this point. Yes please
