3  Economy / Economics / credit card companies suck and blow on: July 13, 2016, 06:03:52 PM
If you ask most people, they will tell you that credit card companies - all of therm, are bad. they charge 20% interest on all purchases made, and they always want you to drive yourself more and more into debt. What I don't like about credit card companies is when you're broke (like me) they offer little assistance, since you owe them a lot of money. I understand you have to pay back the creditors, but sometimes CC companies offer little to no help when you're in a financial crisis. I am beginning to believe that credit card companies give you a really big credit limit, and offer a "rewards program" for signing up with them. I now realize that this is just a ploy to bget you to sign up with their credit card.

I'm 25. I'm a young adult like most others who realize how bad credit card companies are. It seems to me that banks target young people to suck them into a debt they can't pay back. Threatening phone calls and letters add more to the problem. They're like the mafia.

What are your views on credit cards?

5  Economy / Lending / Loan request for 0.0366 BTC - domain collaterial on: July 12, 2016, 09:48:09 PM
I am in control of the following domain names

tommorisonwebdesign.com
worldofbitcoin.net

I can offer these two domain names as collateral for the $CAD 32 I owe to my credit card company. I just landed a programming job and I expect that to begin to pay out as soon as it's complete. My partner has access to 3.2 million people on another forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
6  Other / Meta / Re: Message to DT members. Stop abusing your powers. (And regular members) on: July 09, 2016, 11:06:15 PM
1 - trust ratings are not for marketplace deals. If you do something in another section of the forum (or even off site) that either shows that you can or cannot (should not) be trusted, or scammed (or attempted to scam), then it would be appropriate to leave trust ratings accordingly. It is also not a requirement to trade with someone personally in order to leave a trust rating as this would allow scammers to simply scam users without existing reputation and be able to maintain their existing reputation.

With the above being said, yes there are many people in the DT network that are leaving trust for no reason other then they do not like the person and/or they do not like what the person is doing. This negative trust is often justified with some comment that is factually accurate, however it would be an understatement to say that it is a stretch to link the comment to the person being an actual scammer.

The heart of the problem is dooglus, as he is the direct reason why two of the biggest offender, cryptodevil and Vod are in the Default Trust network. When dooglus is asked to address concerns about negative ratings left by those who receive unjust negative ratings, dooglus often will make vague comments as to why the negative rating is justified, or says that he does not agree with the negative rating, but does nothing to attempt to hold the person leaving the negative rating accountable. This is in addition to the multiple successful extortion attempts, being involved in, including directly promoting, multiple multi-million dollar scams (1, 2, 3), as well as the glaring conflict of interest in the negative ratings that he often leaves his competitors. Excluding dooglus from the Default Trust network would solve almost all of the issues the DT network currently has.

I agree. If trust was only for marketplace deals, it would be easier for scammers to scam. I think, though, that we can't let the fact that this is the internet. One thing people seem to do here is forget how easy it is to scam with the annoymity of the internet. That's why some people give copies of their iD some (but not most) of the time.

Another issue is that there are many people attempting to make a name for themselves with unclear motives. This is not a problem with the DT system necessarily, however people often brush off trust ratings from these people as "meaningless" when the recipient of such trust attempts to resolve the issue. The problem with brushing this negative trust off as "meaningless" is that some of these people are in some people's trust list, so it does have meaning.
Agian you are right. Some people (like the Pharmacist) are abusing the trust system. A Partial confession on my note, I would hunt around the forum and leave negative trust wherever I can. I quit doing this because I would usually get a PM (or even a new Skype contact) complaining about the trust I left them. I decided then that I have way more time doing more productive things, like watching Laracasts.

It used to be that the forum administration played a more active role in "moderating" the DT network, however now for some reason it appears that the administration's stance on the DT network is "IDGAF what happens or what trust is left by those in the DT network"

Probably most importantly, the negative trust being left by some users is diluting the effect of negative trust on actual scammers, which has resulted in multiple instances of scammers being able to continue to scam even with negative ratings because it is expected for some people to have negative trust when they have certain types of businesses.
Most people on dT will remove negetive trust if it is warranted. EucaMobi calls me a scammer once, I fix my mistake, and life goes on. (Again, another confession, I could have been more calm and chill about the whole ordeal and as I don't have negative trust now so there's no problem). That being said there are still good DTers who are at least fair.
7  Other / Meta / Re: Should signatures be removed from the marketplace or be more strict? on: July 09, 2016, 10:07:47 PM
I've been burned time and time again for talking about this that I don't even know what to say anymore. There were some good posters over a year ago that made the forum nice to participate in. There was some sig spam but not a lot. I have noticed that there are rarely any meaningful conversation in the above mentioned sections. I think there should be reform, but I don't see that happening soon.

All I can give is give the advise I was told "Quit bitching and report to moderator"

10  Economy / Economics / Re: How many coins did you have during the rise? on: July 03, 2016, 04:44:05 PM
During the 2013/2014 rise to nearly $1,400/coin, how many bitcoins did you have?

And do you regret not selling if you didn't?
I wasn't into Bitcoin back then. The price was falling at $500 when I first bought in. I don't buy Bitcoins and hold them. Instead what I do is work for them. also, since a lot of my extra income comes in Bitcoin, i rarely hold coins. Bitcoin has a lot of applications, and investments are only one of them.
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin continuous rising? on: July 02, 2016, 02:08:22 PM
For now according for my daily watch about price of the bitcoin its gradually increase or rising daily.. and i think more price will come these days.. so if you are waiting for profit better to wait more days but the problem is many people right now are ready to sell their bitcoins. once the block halving is done..
bull month!! This month bitcoin will increase its price everyday. Starting monday welcome again 700$ and bye 600$ we will not see each other again.
I agree. We do have to remember that halving is next month and the price of bitcoin is expected to go up dramatically. I have been watching the price jump around, but as of right now I think it
12  Economy / Economics / Re: Have $20 worth of bitcoin, how to earn more with it? on: July 02, 2016, 12:45:52 PM
with $20 is not much choice, but there may be several ways such as trade altcoins or gambling.

Gambling is not a way of earning coins, it is a means of losing coins.
The best way is to just hold on to your coins.  Smiley

I don't understand why so many people are suggesting gambling as a way to make money. i guess people are lazy and they don't want to work for their money. Rather they prefer to risk it on a game of chance where they could loose their money. In other words, not a good idea.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should we tip people asking for BTC in gambling websites? on: June 30, 2016, 04:06:42 PM
It's a very common theme for gambling addicts to beg for money from strangers (since they alienated alienated everyone they know after "asking" to borrow money, while at the same time not taking responsibility for their addiction in the first place. More often than not, they end up loosing the borrowed money end up not paying their loan back.

So my short answer is no people posting sob stories should never be given money.

14  Economy / Gambling discussion / [VIDEO] BBC documentary on problem gambling on: June 30, 2016, 12:11:37 PM
i will admit that i might be a problem gambler myself. i have spent lots of Bitcoin on online bitcoin gambling games and can't say i won more than i lost. i however, see gambling as a form of entertainment and not a way of making money, as recommended by other posters in these forums.

here's the link to the documentary on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-uM4XSi0Fo

the film maker explicitly says that his dad was a problem gambler and got into crime to pay for his habbits. There have also been breakthroughs in psychiatry that treat gambling like any other addiction, (iE crack or cocaine). some scholars even argue that gambling is as addictive as crack.

i admit that i will gamble, but I consider it entertainment rather than a sure way of making money. I try not to gamble too often, but when I do i set a limit and i don't go past it.
15  Other / Meta / Re: This forum is so cluttered with spam, impossible to post constructivly on: June 29, 2016, 09:52:48 PM
That should be irrelavant. I am just pointing out that some people with sigs spam.
Takes one to know one.

This type of thread has been made over and over and over again (not to mention several times by you alone) and almost every time people are told to do the same thing. Compile a list of these shit posters and send them to a mod to look at, or report them to the respective signature campaign manager. If they are in YoBit, post them here or send them to hilariousandco, if they are in Betcoin.ag then send them to roslinpl etc. Then again, how could you ever make money from your spam ridden signature campaign if you didn't post several threads about them? Roll Eyes

It's gotten to the point where threads about spam are becoming spam themselves. The solution is the same, either add them to your ignore list or report them and move on with your life. Making threads like this does nothing but clog up the Meta section (the exact same thing that you're complaining these spammers do).
very well, I'll stop whining and report sig campaign spam rather than "whine" about it. I'll stop cl;oging up this section and report a spammer when I see one to the moderator. I've already made a few reported. hopefully something gets done.
16  Other / Meta / Re: This forum is so cluttered with spam, impossible to post constructivly on: June 29, 2016, 06:25:38 PM

That should be irrelavant. I am just pointing out that some people with sigs spam. There are plenty of sig campaigners who don't.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Final countdown [10 Days before the halving] on: June 29, 2016, 06:19:20 PM
I think there will be a great price increase on the day of halving. I bought CAD$20 worth of Bitcoin. Now I'm holding those coins as they have a lot of potential to increase over $1000. We have not seen a price like this since the Mt. Gox fiasco and I think the price is only going to the moon from here. bitcoin is superior currency, and big banking interests would tell you otherwise.
18  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: YoBit.net is a SCAM!!!! They have stolen my money!!! on: June 29, 2016, 06:01:07 PM
I was kicked off the YoBit signature campaign with no official explanation why. There's a lot of YoBit spammers listed in Meta and they have seem to do more spamming than me as those accounts post nonsense. My posts are on topic and relevant. More and more people are catching on to the fact that YoBit is a scam and ALL of their services should be under review. It's time we got some answers.
19  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoins safe? on: June 29, 2016, 05:56:23 PM
Bitcoins are not safe at all because the only thing i hear is that allot of people get rid of their coins some in a stupid way ok but most of them cant do anything
about it and that is not what we want to happen in the future when the price of the bitcoin will hit the highest score.

I think bitcoins is safe enough. The problem is if you open websites or download something suspicious and makes your pc have a virus and you thought it's because a bitcoin, but it's not.
thats true, as far as i know bitcoins are really safe because it is impossible to crack the code, in my opinion bitcoin might be even safer than ordinary fiat because it is easier to steal fiat

i think that bitcoins are going to grow a lot in the near future and then there will be more attempts to steal your money so i wouldnt use online wallets as they are usually not safe at all
I agree. Bitcoin is encrypted with private keys and it's impossible to move the coins unless you knew the wallet password. That's assuming you're using Bitcoin Core or Armory. Online wallets like blockchain.info, as stated above, have security holes as you can see from, this forum many people have complained about their web wallets getting hacked.
20  Other / Meta / This forum is so cluttered with spam, impossible to post constructivly on: June 29, 2016, 05:46:58 PM
As the title says. it is becoming impossible to participate in on-topic constructive posts. there are too many signature campaign spammers posting idiotic threads that have no substance in the OP (although some people are able to contribute even with a lousy OP. For me, a useless first post makes it harder to respond to the topic without being accused as spamming yourself.

let me break it down

  • Spammer/bot posts nonsense new topics, with a flashy signature ad
  • More useless replies echoing the OP of the thread, hence no discussion
  • when a non-spamming sig campaigner attempts to respond to the topic, they have to effectively come up with their own substance in the post, since by the time they get to the thread there's at least 3 or 4 spammy posts.
  • That contributor's post can easily be deleted since it's a reply to spam. It's difficult to be constructive when replying to spam
Do you see my logic? This seems to be happening more and more with bots posting nonsense and braindead forum posters who are only herer to make a quick buck. I'm sorry to say that this forum is detraining into a haven of spam, and it seems as though not much can be done.

Thoughts?
