I'm just patiently waiting for SB, I can't really make any decisions until that happens. What should have been late July is now looking at late Sept. thanks to Yifu. At this point can Avalon be trusted for anything? The 55nm chips announcement sounds fishy... I'm not convinced that the chips will be perfectly compatible at the pin level. Delays are to be expected, but we're looking at 2 months later than his "no bullshit" terms and it couldn't have come at a worse time. October delivery for 55nm? I wouldn't count on it.

If SB thinks we move to 55nm, so be it. I trust him, but I don't trust Avalon anymore.

BUMP

You guys see Peyton last night? wow.
243  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 04, 2013, 01:55:30 PM
Frankly, I'm surprised SB has put up with this much trashing. If I were him, I would make use of the "refusal of service" provision in his terms. Good lord, a few more days and someone would have likely called the FL Attorney General or worse. I don't know if money or the prospect of it brings out the worst in people or if these forums are full of cranky teenagers or what, but PLEASE give SB the benefit of the doubt. He has continually posted substantial weekly/bi-monthly updates and has demonstrated a deep (rather unwarranted, IMHO) commitment to this community and his customers.

5% is generous, I expected the full 9% to be non-refundable, since the terms of the sale state that the ENTIRE purchase is non-refundable. The two operations (chips and assembly) are intertwined because of Yifu's terms (that he has now broken).

I'm going forward with my 50-chip w/assembly purchase. I do have 2 extra chips that I would like to do something with, assuming I don't have a dud. I think that ROI will not be met, but it was never guaranteed. I'm hoping some of the other projects are delayed (probable, given history) and I will recoup approximately three quarters of my costs.

As for refunding the assembly costs... I understood these to be non-refundable as well (it was explicitly stated and implicitly understood.) It's hard to expect SB to now completely change his business model because of Yifu's reversal on refunds. He needed the assembly money to establish the processes to make the assembly house work. Refunds from this would likely drive up costs or bankrupt SB.

Breathe. Relax. There are better things to do than troll this thread because you (may have) made a bad investment in Avalon.

Ill be in if stl wins today, ill have the buyin. But has to be snake draft, I've never done auction and will be too confusing for me to do on my phone.

Unfortunately the cards. didn't win. Even if they did, we still only have 6 players. I'll modify the settings for a week 2 draft, but there doesn't seem to be as much interest this year. :/

Draft is now Snake format, 10:00 CST next Sunday, 9/8.
245  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 30, 2013, 08:25:34 PM
Who says those options ARE available? Just because Yifu mentions that he prefers something, doesn't mean he will follow through. Not meaning to FUD here, but nothing guarantees us that he will deliver chips OR a refund. We aren't waiting The situation is unresolved not because we're "picking unrealistic options" but because we have no information.
246  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 30, 2013, 08:13:32 PM
Clearly we need more information from Yifu and SB to make an informed decision.
247  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITCOIN Fantasy Football 2013! on: August 30, 2013, 07:39:31 PM
Bump.

I do have a draft tonight for a $15 league if any of you are interested. http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/26793
248  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinobit - LIVE ROULETTE - [INVEST] - BEST CASINO OF 2013 on: August 29, 2013, 05:21:03 PM
Investment withdrawals should probably be frozen and resolved separately. Any winnings should be paid as soon as possible to continue operations. Does a code change need to happen to separate the site functions?
249  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITCOIN Fantasy Football 2013! on: August 29, 2013, 05:17:53 PM
If you three would be in with snake draft, we'd only need 2 more.
250  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 29, 2013, 04:37:33 PM
Anyone want to sell their group buy chips at .06 per chip?  If they do refund I get a little profit for my risk, if they don't then you came out better than you would have.  Let me know if any interest?

here come the buzzards

Hardly, more like an investment firm buying risky mortgages.  No one is forcing anyone, if you want a guaranteed payout instead of a chance, take the service, if you want to wait for one of Yifu's oh so famous soon to come refunds, then sit tight.  Makes no difference to me, and hardly buzzard like.  I am not offering next to nothing for the chips, in fact, if they ship I would lose a lot of money, so it is quite a gamble for me as well, and taking a small profit from that gamble, in my opinion is totally justified.

Take your opinion/ad elsewhere. This thread is for ranting about how much money Yifu has cost us, not how you can profit off of the situation.  Tongue
251  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 29, 2013, 04:23:35 PM
Well the problem with a refund is that steam boat is going to be out of pocket for a lot of circuit board parts. I don't know how many parts he purchased in advance but it's going to be a fair bit so who's going to foot the bill on that?

But didn't we pay something like $35 for parts and $60 for assembly?  Since assembly is not occurring then shouldn't that part be refunded - parts I can understand..

I believe assembly has already been paid for and is the actual mounting of the chips & components which a 3rd party is responsible for. The process continues at SB's location by adding the heatsink, fan, standoffs, etc. and shipping. I may be wrong.

At this point we need a good idea of ETA from Avalon in order to make an informed decision. Zefir's B option is likely the ONLY option for at least the first two batches of this group buy, regardless of how much Yifu doesn't like it.

Quote
b) compensation in BTC: deliver chips, compensate XX% of the initial price

Quote
b) I am not a fan of this, on a principle level I rather do a full refund. plus, I rather sell the chips once we have them in hand at a discount, instead of letting people wait.( which is about the same as doing a partial refund in my opinion.)
252  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon orders - batch #3 refund requests thread on: August 29, 2013, 02:01:57 PM
ok. this is pretty stupid of me, and completely my fault.

the system is designed to move cold storage to hot wallet -> then send out refunds.

but apparently the move failed and the script tried to send a bunch of refunds while the input contained no coins...

1000 coins have been moved and script resumed, I'm sure people should see refunds instantly and can vouch. and once I get back on location I can enable more coins to be moved and thus refund resumed.

again, I apologize for the long delay.

^ wow. Didn't expect that.
253  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 29, 2013, 01:25:07 PM
I'm pissed as you, but now insult Yufu like there's no tomorrow does not help anybody.

He broke ToS with the delay, now he is trying to remedy in some way. Although the simple refund may not be enough (assembly costs already paid, deals fallen, community works trashed (see Bkk), etc...) he seems willing to find a solution.

Good suggestions can help.
Insulting only, not.

The community was surprisingly quiet and patient during lead time and only started pressing Yifu when delivery dates came and went and then when he provided excuses that were clearly lies as a cause for the delay.

Yifu is a child who cares only for his own interests. He has used the forums to enrich himself and start the company and now we are nothing more than flies that interrupt his Chi, despite the fact that he holds tens of millions of OUR money/product.

He has NOT been cooperative, he has been obstinate. No communication. Lies for excuses. Insulting.

He needs to apologize. Then he needs to provide full refunds AND chips+compensation for those who have already invested in substantial hardware purchases.

255  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ASIC] Avalon Overclockable Chips and Boards :: Idaho, USA :: 991:4384 Remaining on: August 28, 2013, 09:47:39 PM
He's a kid in Jr. High college with other concerns. He will probably come back and clear things up when the chips arrive.
256  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 28, 2013, 09:45:52 PM
A little too much vitriol in that last post. But we do need some action and it looks like zefir is moving forward in a reasonable manner. Will you coordinate with him Steamboat?

I would also like to see some cooperation between groupbuy organizers. My guess is SB will post an update tomorrow or Friday. Some compensation from Yifu should be discussed. Personally, I still want my K16s, even if ROI is as low as ~70%. Let's not forget that SB bears no responsibility for Avalon's inability to provide the chips in a timely manner, we would all do well to revisit the first few posts in the thread.
257  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITCOIN Fantasy Football 2013! on: August 28, 2013, 08:17:34 PM
If more than half (4) want a traditional snake draft, I'll make the change.

Have you two ever tried an auction draft?
258  Economy / Gambling / Re: Fantasy Football? on: August 28, 2013, 05:34:00 PM
I'm hosting a league. 0.25BTC buy-in. I did one last year as well. Need 8 to make it happen.

259  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 28, 2013, 02:45:40 PM
Of course Steamboat owns a portion of chips from all of the batches and about half of the chips from batch 1-3, IIRC. This means that anything you are losing in lost mining revenue due to Avalon's bullshit, he is losing just as much. The assembly of batch 1 will be produced at a loss. I don't know how much was invested in parts and production, but I don't doubt that it could easily be more than $50k.

Order ownership changing/splitting would be appealing, but would take a lot of work and generally be a pretty substantial headache for SB to manage. Maybe a transfership "window of time" could be opened prior to chip arrival.

Bump, we need several more players to make this happen.
