101  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Newegg now offering "Miner's starter set" on: December 31, 2013, 03:36:44 PM
Dont hate newegg hate AMD. Even the prices on Amazon have increased. I got XFX 290 for 399 now they are 499..  ie in 15 days

Ohhh, no, Newegg is bad for other reasons.
102  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Newegg now offering "Miner's starter set" on: December 31, 2013, 02:52:13 PM
Newegg sucks.

They used to be good, now they aren't.

Trying to sell 7970s for ~$400 when the same thing can be had (R9 280X) for $300... I'm not impressed.
103  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HASHFAST warranty just TEN DAYS after delivery on: December 24, 2013, 10:11:20 PM
A 10 day warranty on a new electronic device is bizarre, makes you wonder about the hardware.

Refurbished electronics typically come with a 90-day warranty and most new components come with a 1-year warranty.

Weird.

108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC] Changing the litecoin Proof of Work function to avoid ASIC mining? on: December 06, 2013, 04:42:56 PM
It certainly should be ASIC-hostile. ASICs allow for more mining centralization than card-miners. It's another thing that allows Litecoin to be distinct from Bitcoin.

Then the question remains, will other scrypt coins follow suit? or will there be a "split" between asic-minable scrypt coins (feather coin/bbq) and litecoin?

Good idea. Move groupbuys to marketplace as well.

While we are not responsible for fluctuations in the exchange rate, we have chosen to lock the rate to that of Sept. 11th, the day we announced we would be accepting assembly refund requests, in order to attempt to help ease the BTC losses of our customers. The exchange rate will be $126.61 per BTC, based on the price history of Coinbase.

This is epic.  I don't want to see one more negative post about the BTC price fluctuation or about Steamboat being a scammer/thief/whatever.  Steamboat has no obligation to do this, and to be honest this type of thing is unheard of in this business.

This is unbelievable and unexpected. Kudos to SB, but I wonder how he can afford to do such a thing?

Need more details. Time requirement? open-air or have to be in cases? Are you able to re-assemble? How much total are you wanting to spend?

etc.

My 5% stake is still for sale. I will take the best offer, whatever it might be as long as it's worth my time to print, revise, scan and e-mail the new contract. One buyer has reneged, another is not communicating any more.

I would really like to get this off of my plate. Any/all offers considered.

There is no question who the more reliable party is here.

I seem to recall reading at some point that the website was being decommissioned at a predetermined date.  It's been a while so I may just be confused.

Weird... perhaps site is down to add interface for hosting customers?

I have always had luck with the group buy e-mail address. I've received replies to most of my messages within a few days.

I admire your courage to return.
120  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: November 19, 2013, 07:05:07 PM
It's not that clear since we actually paid in BTC.

When I bought assembly, testing and hosting, it was very clear that I was paying an amount in US dollars in the form of BTC. Why are we even bothering to discuss this? I would still like a refund, no matter what form it takes.

We are discussing this because if you payed, in an amount in US dollars in the form of 22.17 BTC, upon failure a couple of seconds later, you are to receive your refund exactly in 22.17 BTC.---not in 2.34 BTC because the value of BTC changed within those couple of seconds. (It doesn't even matter if it was seconds, hours, days, or even months) The whole point is that you must legally receive, exactly what you traded.

If you trade a shotgun to someone for a laptop, and he is still yet to find, and build this laptop. And he fails to find it, he must return the entire shotgun to you;not 1/7th of the shotgun because the value of it increased in relation to the laptop.

Bitcoin was the payment method/medium, not the payment "amount." To put it another way, treat BTC as check/money order/Credit Card... the exchange rate is irrelevant and outside of the agreement. Also, there was no refund guarantee. In fact, the concept of a refund wasn't even known before Yifu offered it. You purchased the "product" knowing that SB was not liable. Read the first few posts.
