1022  Economy / Goods / Re: Privacy Book on: March 28, 2012, 01:51:20 PM
I purchased the ebook!

To all those who are aware of what is coming and have a serious interest in maintaining their personal privacy and individual freedom, I recommend reading this book. The author presents a genuine and legit product. The ebook will be a valuable edition to your personal collection. I believe in the architecture of Bitcoin and look forward to the future of this crypto-currency in this new emergence of global tyrany. However, I cannot say the same for this forum! I used to visit this forum until it was overrun by all the juveniles. These days I don't waste my time here. I have serious pursuits and this forum doesn't stand up. I'm only taking the time to write this because I heard about the abuse and I don't like to see individuals with integrity and legitimacy bullied!

You individuals should be ashamed of yourselves!

Sovereign Investor - I tip my hat to you and your work! Keep it up and continue your efforts to communicate and educate - we need people like you. Take my advice, and don't waste your time here!
This is a den of miscreants! You don't belong here!

To all you little angry ones: Don't lash back regarding this post. I won't be back to read your rants!

Farewell,

maxkoda

So, someone with a low post count claims that they purchased it and it is high quality... but is unwilling to respond to any skepticism?

Is it just me or does it seem like maxkoda is a sockpuppet or friend of SoveriegnInvestor?

It's pretty obvious that it's the same person, they use the same colloquialisms and antagonistic language.
1023  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Sē Capital Management on: March 28, 2012, 01:37:48 PM
Won't granting yourself 18+% of any new share issued devalue the stock?

This doesn't really sit well with me because you are essentially incentivized by issuing new stock instead of being incentivized by making a profit for investors. I'm fine with the initial 18% going to the fund officers, but I think they should just keep some of the profits as re-occurring "payment" instead of issuing new shares for an 18% payday. Also, simply leveraging 100BTC doesn't mean you're actually giving 100BTC to the fund, it just means it's available. And, the dilution of percentage IS important for voting purposes. Are the officers allowed to sell their initial shares? Are they allowed to vote?

I would simply suggest that any expansion be put to in a motion and that motion should include payment specifics for the officers. I also think that the officers should abstain from voting.
1024  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Sē Capital Management on: March 27, 2012, 09:33:32 PM
answer #2 is above you too

THE FUND will raise capital by issuing 610 shares of stock. 500 shares will be offered to the public at a price of 1 bitcoin each. 110 shares will be distributed to the officers of THE FUND. The shares withheld for the officers of THE FUND are identical to the shares offered to the public and convey the same rights as to any owner of the shares. THE FUND reserves the right to issue further stock to raise additional capital for THE INVESTMENT. Should THE FUND issue stock in this manner it will maintain the ratio of shares offered to the public and shares withheld for its officers.

Yea I was hoping for a more concrete answer from the operators.  It seems when a lot of companies on GLBSE offer more shares they are not completely sold out.
If we do issue more shares, it will only be if there is sufficient demand to sell all the issued shares and it would be under the same arrangement as the initial shares in order to avoid dilution.

Sorry for being noob here, but I don't get what 'maintain the ratio of shares offered to the public and shares withheld for its officers' means here. Say I hold 10% or 61 shares and THE FUND decides to issue another 610 shares, does this mean the OFFICERS OF THE FUND get their new 110 shares for free to maintain the ratio and I need to buy another 61 of the new shares to stay at 10%  Huh

Yes, the officers of the fund get more shares, but it's not for free. There is more work involved in managing more BTC. Also, you do not need to maintain your % of shares in order to maintain your return on investment.

More work, yes. Twice the work? doubtful. I would like to see this revised to require the amount granted to the officers be included in the motion for issuance of new shares and up for discussion.
1025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [4 GH/s] p2pmining.com - Hybrid private and P2Pool on: March 27, 2012, 09:27:04 PM
I just wanted to give people a way to contribute to the P2Pool hash rate easily and with less variance. I also want to develop a better user interface for miners to monitor statistical data. It is also a way for me to start my own pool with low initial hash rate and low variance.  I may release the code in the future so others can have there own P2Pool pools. It's just a few PHP scripts and a database on top of P2Pool and Bitcoind.

eta for releasing the code?
1026  Economy / Goods / Re: SDM Liquidations on: March 27, 2012, 06:10:45 PM
I'm interested in 12 of #1 and all of #2, the two 80GB drives, a 700w PS and the IDE -> USB adapters. I'll make an offer when I receive the ram.
1027  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] DDR 2 - 4 sticks on: March 27, 2012, 06:06:50 PM
It would be nice to get a shipping date so I know how long to wait. There are several items in your liquidation thread that I wouldn't mind having but I can't really pull the trigger until I know that I'm going to actually receive these sticks of ram. To clarify, it's 2 sticks of 512, 1 stick of 1g and 1 stick of 2g? That's what the OP said.

Does anyone else get the impression that the OP is a narcissistic teenager?

Honestly, pics or it didn't happen. Post the intro, TOC and a sample chapter of your book if you want to be taken seriously.

I'd say there is a reasonable chance he is stitching pieces of other peoples work together, and that is why he is resisting posting a sample.

Agreed. It smells like a scam of some sort. It's standard practice to make a chapter or two available for free as well as the TOC/Intro, he's trying to hide something.

Another long block :/ when is our luck going to turn around?
1033  Economy / Services / Re: Open Syllabus [Bounty/Fund] on: March 23, 2012, 01:41:48 PM
I think that it would be difficult to find and tap into the niche that would desire something like this. You would have to take steps to make your program more valuable to potential learners. Some ideas:

  • The program easier to use than finding the right book or freely-available resource
  • It provides better learning than simply reading a book or using open courseware, perhaps utilizing different learning styles or game-based learning
  • It is comprehensive and will provide "equivalent" knowledge to an associate's/bachelor's degree
  • It provides student-to-student interaction and perhaps a cohort learning model
  • It provides a volunteer "mentor" or "facilitator" (who works for bitcoin tips?)
  • It is endorsed by people who know what they are doing
  • It is built around a community that offers "badges" or something to encourage completion
  • It can be transferred at a later date for actual college credit
  • The content fits a specific niche where free learning material is difficult to find

Also, I would suggest that you use either a Ning network or Moodle/Sakai for the "courses" if you want them to be more robust, otherwise wikispaces offers wikis with forums, which may be helpful. I am experienced in Moodle and could help if you go that route.

If you're going to start with the bitcoin community, you might actually create "courses" that teaches about bitcoin. You might also do tech-related courses (solar/programming/hardware), since bitcoin followers seem to be more tech-oriented than the general public.

1038  Economy / Services / Re: Open Syllabus [Bounty/Fund] on: March 20, 2012, 08:59:48 PM
So, you're thinking of pulling enough free content together to develop a (multiple?) "degree-sized" calendar of study?

Also, Open University is not free, I think you may be thinking of Open Courseware?
