Im willing to fly over with a camera, possibly even with 24h notice, when you have something to show and to sell.

But then only you would know we are legit, I would suggest some sort of live webcast /online meeting so everyone can join interact and see what we are up to

and it would save you the flight Smiley

I'd like to believe I have a reputation here by now. For example heres me refusing to hold the money for one of the largest bounty's on these forums to date: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=94317.msg1053012#msg1053012

365  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Announcing: Bitcoin Pride - T Shirts & Memorabilia on: April 07, 2013, 06:00:00 AM
I ordered 5 t-shirts a couple of months back and recieved my package promptly, there were some problems using the site, I gave some feedback and atleast a part of the issues were fixed. If I remember correct it took about 2 weeks to get them tome in europe, finland. Sadly when I opened the package it turned out that three of the five shirts were not the ones I had ordered. I contacted FlipPro here and he offered to take a return on the unwanted shirts, pay my shipping cost and send the correct ones. But this did not make sense for either one of us as I had allready been robbed for 24% VAT at customs, so after some discussion we agreed that I would keep these shirts and recieve a dicount code for my next purchase, which I got. I was satisfied with this. But as I have not been able to succesfully use the code for a month nor gotten any replies trough here or the site contact for two weeks I feel I have to make this post, I do it with a heavy heart: I would suggest steering clear of the site for now, the much advertised free shipping option does not work, thus rendering the discount code I got prettymuch worthless and the site has numerous other issues also, mostly going trough the order process seems to work fairly randomly. I will update this post if or when my problem is resolved.

FlipPro please respond to me so I can delete this smudge.

[edit2] Got a response from bitcoinpride, cautiously optimistic.

Harddrives, t-shirts, hosting, advertising, games, Casascius coins/gold bar, graphic design and a hoodie.
368  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which would you invest in? on: April 06, 2013, 05:41:04 AM
$1250 in bitcoins or Butterfly Labs' 25 GH/s Bitcoin Miner which you won't receive until July? Will mining even be economical in July with the exponentially rising mining difficulty, soon to be exacerbated once ASIC hits the ground? How much do you expect mining difficulty/bitcoin value to increase by July?
Up to about a week a go I did my math regarding miningh hardware with cumulative hashrate rises of 10% every two weeks, I have since then upped that nubmer to 15%. The other, more difficult factor is bitcoins exchange rate.
369  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] BTC Guild Registration Limits/51% Mitigation Plan on: April 06, 2013, 05:32:10 AM
I have updated the plan a little bit to proposals that include increased fees to push some miners out to other pools, rather than relying on registrations being cut off.  Cutting off registrations will not prevent old miners from turning on ASICs they receive, and with over 80,000 accounts on BTC Guild, it's far more likely for the new hash rate to come from old users than new ones at this time.
Thank you, I know it's not easy turning down customers (miners) when you have aqquired them by clearly offering a superior service. But it is the right thing to do. Veterans of these forums undoutably understand that a 51% attack serves no ones interest, especially the entitys who controlls the hashrate, but the masses who are just discovering and experementing with bitcoin do not. This serves a preemtive measure against Fear, Uncertanity and Doubt.

Thats why.
371  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Guild pool a 51% threat? on: April 05, 2013, 04:08:51 PM
Create better pool. You will take away a lot of users from BTC Guild ;-)
Thus removing the problem once and for all. derp?
372  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Guild pool a 51% threat? on: April 05, 2013, 04:01:25 PM
6 Blocks in a row Sad ..this is irresponsible.

This isn't the first time a single pool has made 6 blocks in a row, nor will it ever be the last.  Ozcoin did it before with less than 25%.  BTC Guild is only at 35% of the last 2016 blocks.  That's a LONG way off of 51%.  ~10 TH/s would have to leave other pools and join BTC Guild (extremely unlikely), or ~15 TH/s of new speed would have to join the network and all point at BTC Guild (even less likely).
Well tbh. giving one pool 25% of the hashrate is more than I'd like to see, the current situation is terrifying.

375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: casascius coins will be compromised as a medium of exchange. on: April 04, 2013, 05:14:49 PM
First of all, a physical 'bitcoins' as a medium of exchange has always been possible to compromise unless you process them digitally at the point of sale to be sure they contain the amount stated. If you aren't doing this then there are many different ways to get stung.

So this is nothing new and anyone thinking that exchanging bitcoins physically is a good idea needs to get their head checked.

IMO these coins are cool, fun and interesting collectables but not serious methods of payment.

So stop stirring shit where there is none.

Yes, especially that last.

I would also point out, to the OP, that the word 'compromised' has an implied definition in the world of crypto that makes the sensationalistic title completely inappropriate.

Yes, if fail to read the complete sentence.
376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: casascius coins will be compromised as a medium of exchange. on: April 04, 2013, 03:54:55 PM
If you don't know someone, or don't trust them, or they are offering physical tokens at an "unbelievable" price it likely is a good idea to walk away OR redeem the private key before completing the transactions.
Or a believeable one, not all scammers are stupid enough to give discounts.
377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: casascius coins will be compromised as a medium of exchange. on: April 04, 2013, 03:52:43 PM
I don't think casascius coins are meant to be used for normal things, i see them more as a nice thing to have, show to friends and so on.
I completeley agree with you, but up to yesterday I would of also accepted one as a form of payment solong as the sticker was intact and the firstbits proved funds within. I believe I am not the only one.

What is new is how profitable this could be, even in small quantities... and that is exactly the point of my post. I doubt anyone forges Zimbabwe's currency, but USD, EUR ... we are no longer in the shallow end of the pool.

[edit] This "stirring of shit" can be fairly informative to newcomers and we do have quite a few of them these days. I'd like to add something insluting here, but Im just in too good of a mood right now, please check back for updates and have a pleasant day.
379  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My new mining rig, thoughts? on: April 04, 2013, 03:25:58 PM
Awesome. Thanks for all the advice! And I will keep them cool, no worries about that. As for strictly a mining rig, what about it needs to change to be just a mining rig? These parts are already coming in, and I like them for what I'm going to be doing. Rendering, mining and gaming. But, for a different build, what needs to change to be strictly a mining rig?
No harddrive, usb stick instead, a mobo that takes 6 Gpu's, a cpu that draws less power and a high quality psu. All those account to a better Mhs/W (watt). But like I said, I allready sold mine and wouldn't repurchase.

You should take a look at the official (hardware porn) thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7216.0
380  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My new mining rig, thoughts? on: April 04, 2013, 02:46:45 PM
Is this due to the next batch of ASICS due out which will put the difficulty through the roof?
Does the SSD have any affect on hash rate?
Is the i7 the best option or would an AMD processor be more efficient if this was purpose built for mining?

Smiley

Yes, difficulty in general. I believe that if even not one more asic came online between now and lets say the following three months the difficulty would keep rising. But also asics are real and coming, propably in very vast quantities.

The SSD makes no difference in hashrate. Most of my gpu rigs ran of 2Gb usb-sticks, while I still had them.

You do not want to mine with a processor, so the only thing that matters there is it's power usage, less is better. Cpu (processor) mining was obsolete long ago, you can google mining hardware comparison and take a look at the hashrates cpu's get.
